Weekend Trip to MCK's Pond

Great quiet little spot for a one night stay over on our way to Maine. We have little kids and were looking for somewhere quiet on the 4th and this fit the bill perfectly. The pond was perfect for a swim while our RV cooled down from the drive without AC and made for a lovely view to watch the sunset. We even saw fireworks in the distance. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely camping experience at Piggy's Cove. Really pretty, shaded area. Outhouse was adorable and very clean. Our dog also enjoyed playing with the rambunctious Hazelnut on property. Very nice owners. Enjoyed and would recommend to future campers!

Shawn welcomed us with some local area guides, which were great to have. He has a beautiful secluded area on the lake, yet only minutes from downtown. We would stay here again.

I, my wife, and two dogs needed a quick place to roll into, get a good sleep, and roll out of on our second stop from WY to VA. Songdog was perfect! Beth answered my last minute message quickly and was very welcoming. We were pulling a 19’ off road trailer with our Land Cruiser and simply pulled straight into the gate and positioned the trailer so that it opened onto the nicely mowed path to one of the ponds. I meandered around that evening and the property is gorgeous; fantastic for tent camping. Though I’d REALLY suggest not in June…unless you own stock in Off! or permethrin! The mosquitoes were out in force, but we were able to escape into the trailer and enjoy a stunning sunset and be lulled to sleep by bullfrogs. The firefly show in the morning was like nothing I’ve ever seen. We’d, gladly, spend more time here if future travel permits! And don’t let the distance to the road fool you. I don’t recall a single vehicle ever driving by!

They have a really nice property ( would be perfect for a family with kids). We just stayed 1 night as a stopover to break up a long trip. They were wonderful hosts, very friendly and kind. There is at least one 20 amp electric hookup available. Just a really lovely homestead kind of vibe.

2 nights at Tails and Trails Horse Farm

I had an incredibly relaxing time camping at the walk to site. It was the perfect distance to be able to make multiple trips, if needed. There were many trails to wander and the smell of the wild roses is indescribable. The hosts were very welcoming and hospitable. I asked them to bring some firewood to the site for me and had I not, I wouldn’t have seen them at my campsite. It was perfectly private. I reached out for a couple local recommendations and they did not disappoint. I had a one hour riding lesson with Kirsten. It was not my first time riding but I learned a lot. I would stay again in a heartbeat. The hardest part was leaving. Or maybe leaving without one of their dogs!!

First time using Hipcamp and it did not disappoint…Robin was absolutely amazing…her property was very peaceful…it was my first time ever camping and was the most perfect and safest place to get started. The campsite is a generous sized open space between Shawn's house and Shipshewana Lake, with full hook ups, a fire pit, and a beautiful view of the lake. There were plentiful wildlife, we saw swans, herons, geese and bullfrogs serenaded us at night. Shawn, the owner welcomed us and made sure our questions about the area were answered. We would recommend this camp to anyone.

Home Sweet Home, tucked in the heart of agriculture and lake life, Angola is a wonderful small town in the north east corner of Indiana. Songdog Meadows is our little piece of joy, from morning swims in the pond, long walks with our retrievers and sunsets to take your breath away, it is truly and deeply a treasure we cherish. The property host a variety of apple trees, open grass land, and a large cluster of trees surrounding a 3/4 acre pond, while being surrounded by wood lots on three sides and open fields to the west. It is truly a peaceful haven in a rural country area. Learn more about this land:Hang your hammock or pitch a tent just outside our 3/4 acre pond. There are two basins with a channel and a peaceful tree filled grass area between. The pond is in the corner of the 10 acre lot where we live at the end of a dirt road with only a small amount of traffic. The camp site is walk in on mowed pathways, with the driveway and parking area less than 200 yards away. There is a security light so you will never be in complete darkness. A stone fire pit and picnic table sit just off shore of the swimming area of the pond. There are several wide mowed pathways surrounded by prairie grasses, shaded by large trees. The area can easily handle several tents, hammocks and small RVs. The area is rural farm land with a handful of houses on the short dirt road. But this property is surrounded by wood lots and open fields. Two neighbors houses are visible but separated by trees. Our house is visible from the pond and camping area.

Not only is the scenery replete with natural beauty - the pond, the fields, the sledding hill, the nature trail through the forest - but also a setting to engage the imagination! Additional services may be arranged on-site. For example, who would you like to have breakfast with? A superhero? A princess? Or perhaps a souvenir caricature of you and your group is in order to commemorate the experience? Maybe an experiential art, dance, drama or music lesson? Guided tours of the grounds can also be arranged to learn more about the history of the farm and it's originality. If you're interested in a "day trip" or even a limited event, we have the facilities to accommodate your birthday or holiday, engage in art Classes, raise funds for your good cause or enjoy "something different" for this year's corporate party. We're also open to your ideas for a custom school, festival or carnival event. We can accommodate groups from 1 to 400 (maybe more, if we send a few enchanted creatures on vacation!) MORE NOTES ABOUT THE CAMPSITE: We're flexible with wherever you would like to pitch your tent, but the spots we have established are next to our cabin (where the lighting is best and the ground is flattest.) Parking is most easily found next to these sites as well (and the lighting is also excellent.) Also, in the near vicinity, a shared firepit is readily available and can accommodate at least 12 people. Fallen Tree Co is located directly next to Chain O’Lakes State Park, were you can swim, hike, fish, kayak, etc.!
