Alex was a wonderful host at EcoCamp. The yurts were so cozy and were wonderful (and dry!) during the rain. We had vegan waffles in the morning and there was a vegan coffee creamer available, which was an unexpected treat. :) Super close to hiking and biking trails, and a short drive from a brewery/winery if you’re into that. It can get a little dark at night even with the lanterns, but we brought a couple headlamps which helped us manuever around in the later evening. We’d love to go back in the future!

The Eco Camp was awesome, it’s the perfect quick getaway to just sit back, relax and enjoy a really unique glamping experience. Alex was an awesome host and we had a great time getting to know him and enjoying his coffeee and waffles for breakfast! There’s a few scenic options to drive to and hike around if you’re in the mood as well. The camp and our yurt was incredibly clean and the check in, check out instructions were simple and accurate. Definitely recommend checking out the Eco Camp.

This was an amazing experience. Alex, the host, was extremely hospitable. He made sure our stay was enjoyable while not being around too much. Honestly, a great camping experience!

After staying @theecocamp in Swanton, Ohio this weekend, it's amazing how quickly I adjusted to the life of luxury camping (shocking, right? haha). This place was magical, including but not limited to: a converted airstream common room (awesome & handy), a huge outdoor community circus tent with games, cozy chairs & endless grilling opportunities (I mean - they even have a pizza oven!), to beautiful, spacious yurts with actual platform beds and hidden private backdoor seating areas, to charming solar powered lanterns that you take with you through the mystical forest path to your yurt, to...drumroll please...the fanciest portable toilets you'll ever experience in life; I promise you that. Need a shower? Not a problem. Walk a few steps right next door to the super clean, well-maintained Bluegrass Campground where you have full access to all of their amenities. All that, and only minutes away from #toledometroparks and #oakopenings, complete with sand dunes, gorgeous family-friendly hiking, and kayaking only a bit down the road. And if none of that appeals to you, just sit back, build a killer campfire, and partake in some extreme hammocking (guilty). 🏕 All a one-man show, #theecocamp is run by Alex, a cool dude with big dreams who tools around on his #segway like a modern day #glamping butler, serving you french press coffee and homemade waffles with piping hot syrup each morning. So...yeah...this place is awesome and I would highly recommend it. Go there now! ⛺

Upon arrival to the Ecocamp, we were given a tour of the grounds and settled right in. The Lotus Belle tent is spacious and has plenty of room for a large dog to spend a comfortable night in the tent with you! The host Alex was very accommodating and available if we had questions. He even got a fire started at the camp (bring s'mores!). Though we arrived on a hot day, the tent got surprisingly cool at night with both of the large screen tent doors open to let in the breeze. The ambiance of the campground at night is magical with the solar hanging string lights in the trees and the option to take solar lanterns into the tent. The next day we woke up and swam in the pond at the neighboring campground, then explored the Oak Openings preserve right around the corner. We were pretty stoked when we found out that Alex the host serves waffles and coffee on checkout day!
This is a great place for a peaceful getaway in the woods with the option of exploring the surrounding preserve or just relaxing and enjoying a classic glamping experience!

My husband and I stayed at Eco Camp in a Big Lotus Belle Tent! And it was such a nice little getaway. Alex the host really thought about everything. From phone chargers to cooking supplies Eco Camp had it all! It was so nice for us to be able to get outdoors without having to pack up a ton of supplies! We really enjoyed our time relaxing in the cozy tents and exploring the area. Such a magical place to get away for a few days!

This is such a magical experience!! Alex, who owns and runs Eco Camp, is extremely hospitable and accommodating. Before we arrived he initiated contact via text and opened the lines of communication. We exchanged a few messages which made me feel supported and safe as we arrived to an unfamiliar area. When we arrived we were met at the gate and lead to our Lotus Buds at Eco Camp. There was a fire going when we arrived. Our tent was absolutely perfect. Comfortable bedding, solar powered lighting available for the evening time both in the tents and outside to clearly mark pathways. There was a large communal fire pit with a great seating area and hammock around it. Since we were there for a weeknight, we had the camp to ourselves. In the morning we had the option of having breakfast made for us, waffles and coffee. MMmmmmm. The showers and bathrooms were all in excellent condition. Alex is clearly a conscientious and informed business owner of tremendous integrity. I will definitely seek out Eco Camp in the future both for the personal experience and to support a business that is so aligned with conscious living. I highly recommend this experience. Excellent value. And I saw the big tents. Highly recommend those, especially if you're on a romantic trip, you're camping for more than one night, or you just want some space to move about.

Heated Yurt in the Forest
What a magical little camp area. We stayed here after a trip to the Midwest to catch the 2017 solar eclipse. The Eco Camp is developed by Alex W and integrated within a secluded portion of the Bluegrass Campground outside of Toledo area in Swanton, Ohio. Alex has an academic background in which he spent part of his PhD studies on the environment and climate change. He has put this knowledge base (and passion) to use in developing a low impact, yet highly comfortable camping experience for those that want a bit of a getaway. We rented a Big Lotus Belle tent with a queen sized bed and two cots as a family of four, and found the set-up to be commodious, clean, and comfortable. The cost is on par with cabin rentals at KOA and about half the price of room for 4 at the Hyatt, and much more interesting than either. Alex is also very involved in managing a pleasant stay for the guests, providing options to structure both the nighttime and morning. He really went above and beyond our expectations. It's the rare venue that I would rate 5 stars for both the experience and the value.
