3 nights at Ohio River Private Paradise

What an honor it was to stay here on Hollys Ohio River Paradise Pavilion! This place is gorgeous & pictures simply don't do it justice! The Pavilion itself gave an extra cozy feel for an easy camp kitchen set up & area to hang out & stay dry when the weather just isn't cooperating. There was more than plenty of room to set up our tent, & even with a cabin just a short distance away & within site there was plenty of trees and natural cover to tuck away & not be seen if you want a more private feel (we had the property all to ourselves so that didn't matter much to us). There is a nice and clean outhouse to use as well! The campsite is just a short walk from the river with beautiful views of the river from the campsite area itself. The fire ring was large & could hold a good size fire that several people could sit around. It was just 2 of us & it was quiet & secluded but the area is large enough that it would be an amazing group camp site. We enjoyed watching the barges & there is a train but we maybe only heard it 3-5 times the whole weekened. If your going for the fishing come prepared because it's a harder area to fish unless your experienced. Luckily we had everything we needed & caught a couple blue cats & striped bass. We also enjoyed a variety of birds & listening to the owls at night. So you may ask, beautiful place with a view, fishing, wild life, and privacy. How could it be better. The answer is Holly. She is kind, helpful, responsive, and makes you feel at home!

We had a great time tent camping at this site, it was clean and well taken care of. The area is beautiful and the wood bundles we got were top notch hard wood. We were impressed and will be staying again soon!

Whispering pines was a great site!! Jim and his wife are very nice people. The site it's self was very quiet, with multiple trees to choose from to hang a hammock from. There is also plenty of room for a tent as well.

Caleb’s property is beautiful and secluded. We have camped there multiple times, it’s always a peaceful stay. And only 20 minutes from HH state park.

The covered shelter area with the picnic table was great to have as the area experienced some massive rain during my stay. Great to be able to set up everything not have to worry about getting soaked. I'm sure in the summer it provides some great shade also. I requested some bundles of wood for the stay. Was not sure how much firewood would be avabile close by. The wood was dry and burned easily, even with the amount of rain we had. I would offer a suggestion to the owner. When I pulled up, there were turkey hunters hanging out and thought it was part of the forest. Was not a big deal. They packed up and left within a few minutes. To avoid confusion, I would put up some private property postings.

solid site! outhouse with flush toilet was really nice to have, and the site is very convenient for Hocking Hills access. we set up our tent on the wooden platform (Site #1) to keep away from the cold/wet. overall had a great stay

Weekend Trip to Ohio Red Barn

We really enjoyed our weekend at Ohio Red Barn. Even though there was a bit more traffic on the road than we imagined, we still felt like we had privacy. We enjoyed the quiet nights and being so close to the Amish bakery and general store as well as Paint Creek. Great hiking nearby as well. We would definitely camp here again.

3 nights at Altenbrauch Farm

We really enjoyed our stay. It's a beautiful piece of property you can tell they've put a lot of work into. Plenty of places to stay along the creek and many options to spread out so you have a bit of privacy. It's nice and quiet except for the occasional local dirt track driver coming down the gravel road. We just stayed there the whole time it was nice and relaxing. The Port-a-jon was clean the solar shower worked it wasn't very warm but it was mid April. When we were there my buddy and his son helped me rack it back to the left as the door was stuck. I'd advise walking the 4x4 paths before heading off on them if you haven't been there yet. It's a very cool place to stay.

We had such a blast on our Easter camping trip. Process was easy. Land well maintained. Only had 3 other groups out there so we basically had the land to ourselves. Had little things that we didn't think to pack available for purchase. Only downside was Digger bees at our site but they were harmless. Will definitely be returning this summer.

Weekend Trip to Altenbrauch Farm

Camped with my jeep with a rooftop tent . Only group on 69 acres can’t be beat. Very secluded No highway noise, no cell service (except Verizon), porta-potty was very clean and well kept, and all the extras you could get where right there if needed. 10-15 minute driver from Hocking Hills. If you have toddlers this place would definitely be good.

Weekend Trip to Trothwood Forest

Really enjoyed tent camping here. The hiking trails around the property were well kept and easy to follow. Found a waterfall I had no idea was nearby. The campsite was easy to find and I enjoyed the walk to it, made it feel very isolated which is what I was hoping for. The host was super nice and offered to get me anything from the gas station in town if I forgot anything. Highly recommend!

3 nights at Triple D Retreat

Frank was a great host. With all the rain we ended up stuck and he was gracious and came to our rescue. This, despite us ignoring his advice on where to park the camper due to the immense rain they've been having. This was our second time on his property and both have been excellent, quiet, secluded experiences. We'll be back again for sure.

5 nights at Yourway Camp

Great hosts, awesome site with sounds of small stream and privacy yet close enough to hocking hills hiking for easy day hikes. Hot shower and ample firewood are extra bonuses! Would definitely stay again!

Weekend Trip to Altenbrauch Farm

Absolutely amazing, checking in we saw that we weren't the only ones there but never saw another person once. Very quiet, and obviously full of wildlife (saw a few deer and heard some coyotes and owls) make sure to bring hiking shoes if you plan on going into the woods at all it's a bit of a hike especially if you don't have a 4 weel/ off road vehicle. Portable bathroom was very clean we didn't use the shower but seemed nice. Plenty of fire wood for collection if you don't want to buy it or bring it. Very secluded so make sure you have everything if you don't want to make a 30 min. drive to any grocery stores. Definitely plan on coming back !

Our little hobby farm was procured in December 2021. While we're just getting started our new home, we hope you'll enjoy sharing the orchard, meadows, forest, and swimming pond with us. "Roads go ever ever on, under cloud and under star. Yet feet that wandering have gone turn at last to home afar." Learn more about this land: Come relax atop the Appalachian foothills of southern Ohio. Enveloped in the heart of Tranquility Wilderness Area, our 11 acres has a mix of native pawpaw, peach, pear, and persimmon trees, deciduous forest, cedar woods, wild meadows, a small swimming pond, and a large, accessible field for ample flat for tents and room to play. Trails through the woods are being worked on, and facilities expanded as the seasons pass. Mellow nature’s soundtrack of birds, crickets, and frogs and enjoy an incredibly clear view of the night sky. Hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, hunting, swimming, and more are available at several state parks and historical sites like within 10-30 minutes of the farm. Amish country is likewise near at hand with several bakeries, markets, furniture shops, and greenhouses. Our primitive sites are spaced for privacy, with a gravel parking area near the cottage and additional field parking is available near the road on the opposite site of the main house. While most sites are walk-in only, the upper field sites may be able to be parked near and the Lower Meadow, Boneyard, and Oak Grove may be able to be driven to, as weather and site conditions permit.

Family-Owned 43+ acres. nearly all wooded. This property has been minimally developed so as to allow it to be as clean and as natural of possible. There are some trails making hiking the property easier. A few locations on the property are available for quite private camping stays or family friendly getaways. When you drive up the driveway stick to the right. The houses on the left are different properties. Park where the driveway first levels off or up near the flagpole. Trails are not meant for vehicles. Dual purpose / adventure motorcycles are ok to drive right up to the sites. No ATV's Solar/fire heated shower near the flagpole. Closed during colder months (Nov-April). Always test the water temperature before use. There is cell service on the property! This is an ideal location to give children adventures that are still within minutes to a small town and other attractions in the Hocking Hills area. Aside from our house, there are no neighbors in sight. Easily pitch your tent in an open field or trek through the hills and hollows to find your perfect campsite.As part of Ohio's famous Hocking Hills Region, Vinton County is home to the second largest state forest, in addition to multiple state parks and wildlife areas. You’ll encounter abandoned historical sites and relics dating back to the early 1800s, hidden away among the wooded hills of Ohio’s least populated county. If you're a lover of outdoor recreation, this is the place to be. Within about a half-hour drive, there are many opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, hunting and fishing, and birding. Nearby parks and forests include Hocking Hills State Park, Hocking Hills State Forest, Lake Hope State Park, Zaleski State Forest, the Moonville Rail Trail, Lake Alma State Park, Tar Hollow State Forest, and more!Set up camp wherever you like! There are 12 acres of open field space, surrounded by 50 acres of wooded hills and hollows with hiking trails and level spots to pitch tents. Vehicles can be driven to the field sites; we are still working on a road to access the hill sites by vehicle. The fields have about a dozen "permanent" sites with stone or metal fire rings and log seating. Portable fire rings are also available that can be moved anywhere. Dead wood for campfires is free to gather, or split firewood is available to purchase for $5/bundle. A toilet and solar shower are located at the center of the property. An outdoor water spigot is also available. Guests are expected to follow the "Leave No Trace" principles. Any trash packed onto the property must be bagged and taken with you.

Enjoy our private paradise with over 800 feet of riverfront on 17 acres along the banks of the beautiful Ohio River. We have a great landing for fishing, swimming, or kayaking. The sunsets are fantastic and the night sky incredible! Behold the barges passing by on the river as you unwind and relax in the peacefulness of nature! This is a primitive camp with three sites available for you to consider. We are dog friendly and allow all supervised, friendly dogs to be off leash. Some things to know: We will provide a key code close to your arrival time so you can enter the gate by the road. If you are coming by river, we will put a flag on our landing. You can drive your vehicle right down to the sites. The farm is flat and easily navigated as long as it is dry. There will be a 5 gallon cooler of potable water for you to use. More water is available if we are at the property. We have 2 outhouses located on either end of the property. This is a primitive camp. Please pack out all your trash and leave no trace. 2 kayaks with paddles and life jackets are available for an additional fee, but we need ample notice. Firewood is plentiful by the river in the form of driftwood. We have some wood under a black tarp by the pavilion fire pit available for an additional fee. We have one neighbor who can make some noise with ORVs especially on weekends. Activities in the area include: 4 nature preserves The Conservancy properties Adams Lake State Park Lynx Prairie Serpent Mound Cedar Falls Moondoggie Livery Shawnee State Park Shawnee State Forest with over 60,000 acres and 8.000 acres of wilderness.
