It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time. Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table. Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Walk the forested blue loop nature trail on an adjoining 13 acres that loops through BIG trees and large rocks of glacial till under the shade of an ancient chestnut oak tree. Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species. Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches. Minimize Campfire Impacts Campfires can cause lasting impacts to the environment. Use a lightweight stove for cooking and enjoy a candle lantern for light. Where fires are permitted, use established fire rings, fire pans, or mound fires. Keep fires small. Only use down and dead wood from the ground that can be broken by hand. Burn all wood and coals to ash, put out campfires completely, then scatter cool ashes. Respect Wildlife Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them. Never feed animals. We had a great time! We have trouble finding spots for winter camping and this space was great. We actually forgot our tent poles so the trip could have needed a lot of adapting- but with the access to the barn, we were able to set up inside. Facilities & amenities were clean & as described. Loved watching the animals in the morning and setting up my hammock back by the chickens. Allison was a fantastic host. Would absolutely stay here again!

We had a quick stop over at James farm on a road trip West and it was everything we needed. He responded quickly and even got us some fire wood last minute. We didn’t get to meet as we arrived late and left early but it was a beautiful place. The bathroom in the barn a great plus!

Great spot located right by CVNP. We enjoyed the campfire and laughed every time a goat would remind us we weren’t alone by sneezing. Even though the sun set early and the cool fall air filled the night we had fun. The barn was a nice surprise and good location for a small party. Woke up in the middle of the night to pee (very clean port-a-potty) and the stars were so clear and bright!

This is my go to spot. I come to this beautiful property a couple of times a year. James and his wife are so sweet and helpful. They maintain everything really well. Beware the wood site is full of ticks! We were pulling them off of our dogs constantly. But the site is very private and a perfect getaway.

Safe, quiet and level. But with all the goats and chickens and turkeys…it was wonderful to spend time with the animals. Several are comfort goats and we were invited to go into the pen and enjoy their curiosity and interest and individual personalities. Who knew? First rate experience. Highly recommend.
