Once roamed by Native Americans and now farmed by the same family for over 6 generations, Harmon Creek Farm is a working farm of over acres. Peace, quiet, tranquility and privacy are overflowing along the creek, and hiking throughout the hills on the backside of the farm (and on the other side of the creek) leads to interesting and abundant flora and fauna. The stocked, spring fed pond is 'brimming" with angler challenges🎣 Our cows, pigs, sheep, donkeys, chickens, ducks, geese are all eager to meet you, as are we! We had a wonderful time camping at The Oasis at Harmon Creek Farm! We were originally booked at Creek Front 4, but Cheryl kindly offered us the chance to move to Creek Front 5, which turned out to be perfect. She was very responsive and answered all our questions quickly, making sure we had a great experience from start to finish. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and well-maintained — the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. We’re already planning our next visit and inviting a few friends to join us. Highly recommend this lovely place!

Our stay at this mountain campsite was fantastic! The hosts were both exceptionally kind and attentive. Ken recommended a Newland tire business to work on our truck brakes and I'm not exaggerating when I say they might have saved our lives! While the space was a smidge tight for our fifth wheel, it worked out fine. All the campsite hook-ups were pristine and easy-to-use. The location was lovely - set in a charming country club neighborhood with welcoming neighbors who went out of their way to check on us. We love Newland and felt as though we were centrally located to the places we like to visit. Thanks so much, Ken & Lyn! We will be returning, for sure!

We absolutely love staying here! As seasoned campers, it’s in the top of our list of favorite places and we are so blessed that it’s not too far from home! The scenery is perfect and serene. If you’re looking for a place to escape the busyness of life and sit by a flowing creek for awhile, this is your spot! The farm store on site has fresh goodies, firewood and ice. The bath house is spotless and well equipped. The family that owns the farm will take very good care of you while you visit, but give you plenty of privacy

We cannot believe our incredible good luck to have found this place. Christine and Ken cover everything - with so many thoughtful touches in every area to make our stay over the top. There is ample space for multiple tents with flat sandy/dirt as the base and boat-ramp access to the river. The large open kitchen area is beautiful and would hold many if it were raining. Our group was there for an annual get-together, and we’ve decided not to explore other locations or venues, looking forward to returning.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Corner Pine for a weekend in a camper van to do some leaf peeping and sight seeing around the Highlands. The site was perfect for our needs! We especially loved the deck to relax and enjoy the moon while playing guitar. It was peaceful and private. Having access to amenities was fantastic, and it was so thoughtful of our hosts to leave a welcome basket with instructions and helpful tips!

We had a wonderful stay at The Oasis at Harmon Creek Farms. From the moment we arrived, Cheryl and Scott welcomed us with genuine hospitality—they couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. We ended up at Creek Front 3, a peaceful site right along the creek with plenty of space between us and the nearest neighbor, which made for a quiet and relaxing experience. The farm store was a charming bonus—we grabbed some fresh eggs and sausage during our visit. All in all, a fantastic getaway. We were in town for one night only but we’re already looking forward to returning and spending more time exploring the farm.

This stay was a first for us using this app and very pleasantly surprised and delighted with the spot with easy pull through and comfortable deck with fire pit. The variety of sweet, helpful and welcoming community members in the neighborhood was a plus. Reminds me of a great old campgrounds with lots of woods, shrubbery, unique vacation homes, camp sites or permanent little and large mountain homes. Walking around felt very safe and nice perks with the amenities.

Peaceful and private sights along the creek. Farm animals were fun to explore and even saw an owl land in front of us at our camp sight. Walking the property was nice along with visiting local breweries and wineries. Sight 5 was a good fit for our 22 foot travel trailer and felt like sight 1 would have been nice as well.

Grandfather Mountain State Park

Gather up the climbing gear and head an hour east of Wilkesboro to Grandfather Mountain State Park. The rugged terrain and severe weather offer a challenge of cliffs, cables, and climbing ladders for hikers and climbers in breathtaking biodiversity. Recognized as part of the United Nation’s International Network of Biosphere Reserves, Grandfather Mountain provides a home to 16 ecological communities and 72 rare or endangered species. Free permits are required for hikers who want to explore the park and must be filled out at the trailhead. Campers can spend the night on-site, though it’s only open to backpackers who want tent or group campsites.

W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir
