July 6th possible a small celebration. The historic pond was originally much smaller, and a mill pond in the 1920's and features a long dam along one side. It is a 22-acre lake, 2 smaller ponds and surrounded by woods, swamp, and farmed fields, a total of 90 acres. Divided by Duplin and Onslow County line making it very unique! Chinquapin, NC The Lee Baysden Pond was originally owned by Mr. Lee Baysden himself and first opened for fishing in 1956. The store/office is the original detached kitchen from his homeplace, which is the white house just up the street. We still use this today and it has Mr. Lee Baysden's handwriting in the store that states opened June 1956. The pond was owned and fished until the late 1990's. A hurricane damaged the dam and land was sold sometime after. The next owner dug the pond into the lake it is today and fixed the dam. It was deemed private and no fishing was permitted during this time frame. In 2020 My husband Tyler, and I decided to buy the Pond when we saw the signs up for sale. We created JCO, Juniper Creek Outfitters and Guide Service, fall 2020 and began to restore the lake and land to better than ever! We also have our first Glamping A-Frame cabin available. We have had several community events hosting fishing tournaments, fireworks, music, and food trucks. Our camp office/store is opened most weekends or by check-in requests and fishing passes available 7 days a week online from sunrise-dark. Our lake features fishing for Bass, Crappie, Bream, Catfish, Bowfin, varieties of Panfish, and more. Let us know if you catch one so we can record it! We are continually trying to make JCO and Lee Baysden Pond a great place in our community for friends and families! Enjoy the great outdoors unplugging from all the daily devices of reality. Enjoy bird watching for ducks, geese, heron, osprey or occasional eagle, owls, turkey, and more. We now have a lake Kitty that adopted us and is now part of the team. Her name is "Tail", named by our 4 year old, Beckham. You may see Tail roaming around by the office or patrolling the campground as lake security. Beckham and our new baby girl Atley will be with us most days in office or helping to check you in to your sites! Eight RV sites- # 2, 6, 7, 8 are 30/50 amp, water hookups, fire pit, and waterfront. We carved our 43 acre horse farm out of wild swampy land in 2007 and finished the barndeminium in 2008. My husband is retired from the Air Force and works full time doing the chores. I work full time as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner plus have a side hobby making homemade jams, pickles and flavored goat cheese spreads. We love the peacefulness of where we live...although the chickens, ducks, turkeys, guinea fowl, peacocks, goats and horses do get a little loud come feeding time. We are constantly looking for ways to upgrade or make our farm more fun to visit.

Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. We have a full bathroom available. We have a small camp store. We have group camp sites, pull through RV / Camper sites and a few glamping cabins. Located only 40 minutes from the NC coast and much more affordable and less crowded. We are still growing so we do not have a pool yet but will have one in the future. We do have a kids and youth program with weekly crafts and other activities. Picnic tables are available on some sites. Almost across the street is a wonderful boat ramp and fishing spot on the Cape Fear River. Canoe down to a sand bank about a mile down river and have a romantic picnic. A Celtic themed restaurant, the Mad Boar, is just a 10 minute drive if you are looking for a unique farm to table experience. And Duplin Winery is just 15 minutes away with tastings and tours. Located just 10 minutes from I-40 off US 41 we are easily found. A diamond in the rough.

The north side has a beautiful view of the neighboring farm. Cabin is furnished with a Full size bed. Please bring any blankets/comforters that you would like. 2 extra throw blankets are left for you to use. 2 fire pits, charcoal grill, solar lights, hammock, games, pond, propane heater for cooler month stays, outdoor camping loo. UNIQUE A FRAME W/ OPENING WALL CABIN Games provided: * Horseshoes * Uno * Deck of cards * Connect 4 * Tiki toss * Solar and hand crank radio POWER/WATER: * There is no ground electricity or running water * Solar power lights give a stunning shine into the night. battery operated lights and hand crank lights located in the cabin. * Propane heater for the cooler months, will provide 1 green propane tank per stay. Each tank last 4-8 hours depending on use. PLEASE BRING extras depending on length of stay and weather. PLEASE KEEP HEATER AT A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY FROM CLEAR PLASTIC DOOR OR OTHER FLAMMABLE OBJECTS. * High power Solar fan hooked up above door and can be moved around to cool you off for the warmer days. 2nd battery operated fan is also in the cabin to help with a breeze. (Southeast NC can be hot during summer months) * There is some firewood, can bring extra, it never hurts to have more dry wood available * There is no running water but a 7 gallon jug of water is provided for washing hands or anything. (Not recommended for drinking) as well as a 7 gallon hand pump shower jug * A portable loo (camping toilet/bucket) is available in the outdoor shower. Bags are located in the cabin. * Body bathing wipes are available for your use * no fridge but there is a cooler for any perishable items or drinks/water you bring. Just bring ice! * fire extinguisher, first aid kit available * There is a man made pond, still growing naturally to host plants and fish. Along with a waterfall with a solar pump, so will flow with the sun out OPENING DOOR: * The wall is on a rope pulley system with a hand crank. Simply crank the pulley and the door will open. Once open please grab each leg from the door running up the frame as seen in the photos and place them into locking positions. To close, push down the silver locking mechanism on the hand crank. PLEASE HOLD the rope as you do this so the door doesn’t slam down then slowly lower the door. You are surrounded by woods please remember there are bugs, dirt, and there is other wildlife around you such as; deer, turkey, bears, foxes, etc. Please remember not to leave food out to attract any unwanted visits. Ideas on what to bring: * Drinking Water * Extra green Propane tanks * Fire starters * Blankets * Bug Spray Anything that you want to enhance your camping experience Other notes: * NO SMOKING IN THE CABIN * PLEASE BAG YOUR TRASH and place into the outdoor garbage can provided. DOUBLE BAG IF ITS LEAKING PLEASE. * additional cleaning fees may apply if excessive trash is left behind and not bagged in can * You will be the ONLY cabin on the property! * There is a camera that is facing the gate to ensure safety * As we continue to build and improve this experience we will update the changes * PLEASE NO EXCESSIVE FLAMES at the fire pits. USE SAFETY MEASURES AND KEEP THE FIRE IN THE PIT TO AVOID DAMAGE OR WILDFIRES * Bring charcoal if you are using the grill. (PLEASE CLEAN THE GRILL AFTER USE WITH THE BRUSH) * There are paper plates and plastic utensils. * Extra guest up to 6 are allowed with pre approval. Bring a tent for a $20 fee for extra guest. * The woods behind the cabin is available to walk around. The farm is not. Currently the pond is still naturally filling up so it may not be fully filled during your stay as it takes some time. When fully filled the pond can reach 12-14 feet.

The Secret Sanctuary Farm is a co/op located on a portion of Prince George Creek that has a double Oxbow or hairpin turns in the creek. This unique feature prevented loggers from logging the property. As a result, there are many huge old-growth trees on the property as well as a variety of fauna and flora. A truly unique blend of farmland. Including an assortment of friendly animals to interact with. Woodland, wetlands, and a deep spring fed fresh water creek that connects to the Cape Fear River. There are four permanent 4 shelters on the property. Composting toilets. Showers are still in the works. All of the shelters have their own composting toilets. Small propane heaters are available for each shelter. The first 1gallon bottle off propane is free with your stay. it will last 5-7 hrs. each additional bottles will cast $6.00 per bottle. There is also solar, powered lights, usb charging stations, fans, and air coolers. each Conestego hut has a locking front door to keep your belongings safe Campfires, hiking, canoeing and kayaking. All the Wilmington beaches are within 30 minutes.

This farm has been in my family since Thomas Jefferson was president. I began management of the farm in 1980 and remodeled an old farmhouse into a guest house for a family or for couples to find an escape from the chaos of city life and the modern world generally. The house sits on a gated, 10 acre wildlife preserve, beside a 3 acre pond, which adjoins our 100 acres of fields and forest. Our entire farm is in a conservation easement so it can never be developed, and we are one of the few private properties on the NC Wildlife Resources Commission "Birding Trail"; we have documented over 100 species of birds here in different seasons of the year. Our pond, private for guest house users, offers good fishing and we provide a boat. We also have over 2 miles of walking trails through our woodland and along the pond. Although we permit no outdoor fires, we do have a fireplace in the house and furnish free, seasoned firewood.We grow organic vegetables, alliums, and fresh herbs, along with a great many flowers to attract pollinators.Because some of our guests are allergic to pet dander, and because pets often frighten the wildlife away, we do not accept any pets here, nor do we own any ourselves.Learn more about this land:We offer a two bedroom private guest house with central heat and air, situated in a 10 acre, gated wildlife preserve which adjoins our 100 acre farm and which overlooks a private fishing pond (with boat). We promise no TV, radio, newspaper, telephone or internet connection, but do have a small library in the house. For the convenience of the ladies, the kitchen has no stove but does have a large, sheltered smoker/grill (charcoal provided) on a covered patio beside the kitchen, a full power microwave, and all other kitchen amenities, including a French press with a bean grinder and electric kettle; we also provide our own blend of fresh roasted coffee beans as well as tea, herb tea, chocolate and popcorn. The bathroom has a large claw footed tub and we provide bath salts and fresh organic herbs for the bath. There is a working fireplace and we provide seasoned hardwood for it. Guests may enjoy our farm which offers about two miles of woodland trails and abundant wildlife and birds but no domestic animals. NO pets are permitted at the guest house because many guests have allergies to animal dander. In short, it is a place for individuals, couples and families to find ease, to enjoy a bit of peace, quiet, and privacy and to go home refreshed, restored, relaxed. The house is so private it has a shower on the screened porch overlooking the pond.We are a little over an hour from historic Wilmington and several beach resorts, only 30 minutes from Fayetteville with museums, a fine botanical garden, and Fort Bragg, and very close to both I-95 and I-40 interstate highways. We are an hour south of the state capital city, Raleigh, with many attractions. TEMPORARY RESTRICTION: For the safety of our guests and ourselves, we request that those who have not completed their pandemic vaccines please finish these immunizations before requesting a reservation. Because we try to keep our guest house toxin free for those of our guests who have compromised immune systems and chemical allergies, because we ourselves are older adults with compromised systems, and because we are in a pandemic hot spot, we prefer not to host unprotected travelers until the pandemic ends. We regret the necessity to do this, but believe we can best protect the health and safety of our guests, ourselves, and our friends by this policy.
