2 nights at The Black River Xscape

The property was beautiful! Perfect river views, if you are looking for a place to just escape and enjoy the river views and nature for a couple days I would highly recommend! The restaurants and downtown are about a 20 minute drive which we made sure to walk the harbor in Georgetown. Ate at a couple restaurants on the water and made some memories. We did fish off the pier at the property but the water is pretty shallow there so we weren’t able to hook anything or get the line far enough out to deeper water to get anything. The camper was so nice and we enjoyed relaxing inside when we needed a break from the heat.

Weekend Trip to Laurel Oaks Estate

We absolutely loved our stay at Laurel Oaks! We took out the Jon boat while it rained in the pond, saw the gator Stephen and even a river rotter in the pond doing some laps! Caught a crappie and enjoyed good drinks, laughs and memories outside on the property. We did stop by the game room for an hour or so and played some darts and pool and enjoyed ourself. Had some good food and drinks at near by restaurants. The little AC struggled in the little bear cabin at night however, it still provided some relief from this brutal summer heat while we slept. The tent was clean and had everything we needed. I also loved the little shower and sink set up they had it was very refreshing to clean up in. I would highly recommend! I will say I did at one point fall out of the Jon boat into the pond, it’s surprisingly deep. I would not recommend taking a plunge as I did especially knowing Stephen the gator was a few feet away watching me struggle to get back in the boat while I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe. 🤣

We had such a great time at this treehouse stay on Hipcamp! The whole experience felt like a little adventure—being out on the island was absolutely amazing and so peaceful. Jeff, the owner, was fantastic—super friendly, helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed from start to finish. The kids had an incredible time exploring, playing, and just enjoying being outdoors. It’s one of those trips they’re still talking about! The camper was great. Loved the fenced in property so the dogs could be outside with us around the fire. And the view on the water was beautiful. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to The Fern Getaway

We had a wonderful stay! Everything felt thoughtfully planned and genuinely welcoming. The hosts were warm and attentive, and we loved meeting the animals on the property, including a momma cow and calf and several goats. It added to the charm of the stay. A wagon was provided at the parking area to help move our gear. Incredibly helpful! Clearly marked light paths through the woods made navigating after dark easy. The fire ring was set with enough wood for our first night, and the welcome note, trail mix, water, coffee, and kitchen items were generous, hospitable touches. The tent itself was beautifully done—tastefully decorated, cozy, and well equipped with everything we needed. The king-size bed was very comfortable, as were the feather pillows. A heater kept the tent warm despite nighttime temperatures in the 20s, though winter guests may want to bring an extra blanket (we were glad we did). We traveled with our two dogs. The off-leash freedom was especially appreciated—it made the experience even more relaxing for all of us. We highly recommend the breakfast option. Alissa prepared a healthy, delicious meal of bacon, eggs, bread with butter and jam, yogurt with fresh berries and toppings, and the best oats we’ve ever tasted. The only minor issue was the distance to the loo in the middle of the night, but it didn’t detract from an otherwise excellent stay. We highly recommend The Fern to anyone looking for a peaceful, well-hosted glamping experience.

Weekend Trip to In the Pines RV and Cabin Village

We had another great stay in the cabins here! We were able to walk some of the trails on the property and were very happy with all the amenities in our cabin. This is a perfect spot for when we travel to the Wilmington area, but want to be out of the city. Love that the cabins are dog friendly too!

3 nights at River Island Venture Resort

Overall the stay was great! Very peaceful, great amenities, great location, & I would 100% recommend to someone else. Kayaking was so much fun as well. Overall this place had everything we needed & we would 100% comeback in the future.
