Weekend Trip to Babbling Brook Campground

We had a great weekend staying at the newly-constructed Birds' Nest Tent and Hammock site! It was well-equipped and just what we wanted for a weekend getaway, and Elizabeth and Mark were extremely helpful & hospitable. It was a nice bonus to go see their farm & animals at a time that was convenient for them also - it is their home, so we wanted to be respectful of their privacy and time. Pack light - it's a bit of a walk downhill to the site, and she has a lot of things you may need down there already! Water shoes for playing in the creek were well worth bringing along with a bundle of dry, larger firewood. It's a great site, would recommend.

My fiancée and I stopped for a night at Hilltop Glamping and absolutely loved it! Beautiful views, private setting and all the amenities you could possibly need. Had an amazing time. We will be back!

Really loving camping spot! The sites were in good condition and farm area well maintained. The historic cabin was cute as well. The couple was very helpful and even loaned us an extension cord to reach our tent. Definitely would stay here again!

Brian and his wife’s campsite was very peaceful, clean, and well-ordered. The sound of the stream was very relaxing - the barn bathroom was very tidy, warm, and cozy. Grateful for this campsite, especially after a long drive/hike.

We really enjoyed our stay at Eden Oaks campground! Sandra and Roy were great hosts and we loved getting to see their animals. We camped down by the creek and it was a peaceful, flat spot. Roy brought us a bunch of dry firewood since it had been raining. We would definitely go back!

Weekend Trip to Farmhouse Gallery & Gardens

We were warmly greeted when we arrived, and treated with kindness like old friends the entire weekend. It’s a beautiful location, with an idyllic lily pad pond and captivating serene spots to rest in every direction. The grass was cut nicely on our site, and to allow us easy hiking around the bison pasture and goats. Curious peacocks followed us about. The barn swallows swooped and stole goose feathers and blooming dandelion. And I witnessed a bison stampede, only so briefly, when I suspect they thought I was planning to feed them. After which they returned to peaceful grazing. I can’t say enough to share how much we enjoyed this retreat. Thank you Pat for sharing your Walden Pond with us.

We had a great time at Starlight Hills, the views both during the day and at night are incredible and we really enjoyed the privacy our site offered.

Amazing place… I am recommending it to everyone. The shared lookout space with grills hammocks and picnic tables encourages community in a beautiful setting.

2 nights at Stormbrew Farm

We enjoyed a perfect 2 day stay at this gentle and peaceful farm. Being 1 mile from a trail head for the VA Creeper Trail, was why we chose it The welcome by lots of kitties, chickens and the Gentle giant dog made us feel right at home. While we explored down the hill towards the creek, we found and took advantage of the special place with chairs available. Also, the access to a very nice bathroom was a bonus on top of having power and water hookups at our site. Nicest folks you could ask for! I thank them all and wish them all the best.

3 nights at Greener Acres

The Glampsite is as beautifully situated with an expansive view, and as comfortable and as private and as well-supplied as the reviews and descriptions stated, and the port-o-john on-site and the bathroom down the hill are both immaculate. Brian was quickly responsive to our questions prior to our stay and Sarah greeted us warmly and with a thorough introduction to the site and the use of the Gator. Highly recommend!! And we anticipate returning again!

I've been camping for all 40 of my years on this planet and this was the best camping experience I've ever had. I'm usually the primative camping type but my GF along our dog and I were on a road trip from Minnesota and I wanted to find the best campsite with the best view of the mountains while we were down there, despite not having any of our gear with us. I'm absolutely convinced that we found it. Everything was easy to find when we showed up and we had the whole place to ourselves since it was a Monday into Tuesday. When we arrived our tent was unlocked and ready for us, and the firewood already stacked next to the pit. We literally got out of the car and went straight to the hammocks and enjoyed the view. I specifically booked the only clear-sky night of the week and was rewarded with one of the top 3 sunsets I've ever seen. Absolutely phenomenal. William eventually came to check on us and make sure we found anything, what a friendly guy!! We BS'd for a little bit while he played with our dog and I loved every second of it. It felt like such a privilege to be in such a beautiful place with an amazing host. William, we can't thank you enough! Definitely hope to make it back one day. My only regret is only staying for a single night. What an absolute gem.

The campsite “Buckeye Bank” was absolutely gorgeous. The grounds were very well kept, and the cleanliness of the porta potties was a very nice added bonus. The site was secluded, but easy to find. Communication with the host was quick and extremely helpful. Blair was a huge help in helping me pick the appropriate size campsite for our group and vehicles. I would love to camp here again and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Linville area.

This ride is only 22 miles from our camp. There is also The Blue Ridge Parkway and Lake James Loop that includes “The Devil’s Staircase. Make The Earth Center Camp your base. We do offer long term parking for those who have trailered their bikes here. "Adults only" doesn't mean anything other than just "no children", so as to preserve the natural peace and quiet, and assurance that there won't be loud and unruly children on the property. Inquiries and booking requests received after 9: pm may not be answered until the next morning. Dark Ridge Hide Out, is a 20 acre parcel in the Blue Ridge Mountain's on the back side of the Beech Mt Ski Resort in a secluded quiet and safe community with less than a dozen homes in a one mile radius. Away from light and sound pollution. Except for an occasional passing vehicle "and often none at all from 10pm to 6am" all you will hear is the sound of the creek which runs through the lower section by the RV sites, cricket's and frogs at the nearby fish pond and only the light from the moon and star's in the clear mountain sky and fire flies. It is my home place with a tobacco barn and a big combination cattle/tobacco barn built almost entirely just by my Mom and Dad in early 1940"s. My parents and grand parents lived off of the land here and raised cash crops like cabbage, corn and tobacco, we also raised sugar cane and made molasses, we had free range chickens, as many as 50 honey bee hives and over 50 head of cattle, two or three hog's and of course a horse. There was four main fields; two for cow pasture, one meadow to grow hay "now Christmas trees" and the main one on my part where all crops were grown is where the camp sites are. I grew up helping with the crops and other farm chores, one was to go to the pasture and bring the milk cows in and do the milking every day before and after school, feed the hogs and chickens, gather the egg's, let the chickens out in the morning and close the chicken house in the evening to protect them from critters like opossums, raccoons and wildcats. This is where I grew up, my dad grew up and, near where my mother and both of my grandparents grew up. My house was built in 1905 the same year my dad was born. The campsites are on my 20 acre section section of the original 82 acres with the house and barns, the remainder went to my brother but now is out of the family. The section of Elk River with the Compression Falls "45 ft high" and Twisting Falls which is part of Pisgah National Forest is less than two miles from here, and an old logging road going around the mountain above the river for about three miles to another Falls "Elk River Falls, 65 ft high" is a great place to hike or mountain bike. You will be free to explore and hike any part of my property except the house and out building's. The pond's are full of Trout and Blue Gill fish that are like pet's they love little pieces of bread. You can feed the fish but no fishing.

Supplies can be found at the state park camp store or in town at Redi-Mart or Dollar General. Water and showers are down by barn. A Gator is available for the duration of your stay. Please arrive before sundown so we can meet you the first time you stay to show you the way and make sure you are comfortable driving Gator. We will have you follow us up to the campsite and from there you can come and go and just leave the Gator by your car near the barn when you are out and about and when checking out. A small Bluetti power charging station will be available in the tent (for light charging of cell phones, other) which can be recharged by the barn if used heavily. A Coleman stove with a small propane tank, pots, a frying pan and utensils is also included in the site. Another small propane tank is provided for the radiator in the tent.

While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables. Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October. The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.
