The Pineola - Camp, Lodge, Taproom

The lights were a really cool touch! I loved the site and the surrounding area! Definitely recommend this place!

Not Bad! Just not for Me.

I want to start by acknowledging that we camped over Labor Day weekend, which is understandably a busy weekend! There were some things we enjoyed and others that were not bad, just not my preference. Pros- responsive to questions during booking, pet friendly, free ice, food and coffee onsite, bathrooms and showers available, fire pit at each tent site, firewood sold onsite, ability to drive right up to the tent site Not my preference- engine revving and yelling late into the night (11:30pm); limited staff on arrival- when we arrived there was one incredible lady managing the bar, checking people in, and managing the gift shop who did a great job juggling it all but it did create very long wait times; adults riding dirt bikes very fast and irresponsibly around the site; no hand soap in the dispenser in the bathroom; close proximity to other tent sites with ability to hear others’ conversations, coughs, and sneezes; limited staff again throughout the weekend with 20 minute wait time to pay for a Gatorade and Red Bull even though I was the only person waiting to pay; the pond on the map near the tent sites with fish drawn in it is actually a puddle. This is a really neat place, but just not quite the vibe I was imagining. It could be your vibe though! Don’t count this place out. Lots of amenities and entertainment. If you want to escape into nature and quiet solitude look somewhere else. Then come back here when you are ready to be a little more rowdy and make new friends.

The spot that I camped was super nice, it felt secluded but not too far away from the other places. The live music was super fun and the food trucks had amazing burgers and fries. The Showers were clean and hot and it will definitely be a spot that I come back too!

Great atmosphere, things were always happening at the taproom but tent sites were tucked away when you wanted a more relaxed pace. Bathrooms impressive for campground.

Camping in beautiful NC!

The tent area was nicely secluded from the RVs and had a great restroom with showers. We were there in unusual heat so it was nice to take refuge in the cool taproom with a good selection of beers and drinks. We also enjoyed the close proximity to great hiking!

We loved the privacy between the campsites. The sites are in a relatively small area but each site is separated from the neighbors by thick rhododendrons. Bathrooms were clean and close by. There were many other amenities at Tony’s land in Pineola but we were short on time and really just needed a flat place to spend the night. There is a taproom, food trucks on site, and activities for kids.

Great camping, close to hiking

I loved tent camping at the Pineola! The campsites were comfortable and quiet, firewood avaliable at the store for a nice campfire at night and it a great location one to some amazing hiking spots! It was my second stay at the Pineola in a month and I will be back again in the future! Overall great place to camp!!

We did one of the tent camping spots and parked our camper van there! It was a little tricky getting in because it is not super level in the tent area so finding a good spot to park the van at one of the sights was a little rough. During the week days there was only one other group camping though so we had plenty of spots to choose from! Oh and the bathrooms/showers are nice and close with a gravel path to get to. Super clean. Primitive and peaceful. Highlight was also the coffee truck!!

Tent camped w/my dog. Each site has picnic table, firepit & pearock tent pad, facing a semi circle around a grassy lawn that had a gazebo w/ Adirondack chairs ( came in handy when it rained just to chill out) and a sink to wash dishes in . Bathrooms w/ hot shower & laundry were steps away. It was convenient having the food truck/ restaurant on site. Had a delicious portobello sandwich:). Pineola is located 8 min to Blue Ridge Parkway & 22min to Hawksbill trailhead.

Camping and Festivities

The Pineola is a wonderful place, the team reached out shortly after booking with all the necessary information, the location and campsite was easy to find and the campsite was in a beautiful spot. The only recommendation I have is to contact the Pineola before booking to see if there is a love band that will be playing outside as this happened during my stay and made it difficult to go to sleep as I could here the band/music until they ended around 10:00 pm. I would definitely book again, but will call ahead next time to check.

Great campsite for kids and family

Fun place to camp!! We stayed at site #2 which felt the most "private" of the 7 sites, though its not an especially private campground. Sites had very nice raised gravel pads for tents, a picnic table, and a nice fire ring. The bathhouses were top notch - super clean and well-maintained. We did the live music on the back patio of the inn Friday night which was fun and unique for camping (in the summer they typically do live music on friday and saturday evenings). Convenient location to tons and tons of amazing hiking - you can be anywhere in 15 minutes. We also were able to grab pizza and Mexican food from two nearby restaurants, making for easy, worry-free, dinners. Our kids loved the campground and it felt safe for them to wander around on the trail. While the tent sites are to the back of the property, this is still very much on-the-grid and light sleepers may want to bring a little battery operated white noise machine to block out the cars on the roadway (it was not terribly loud, just don't expect only the sound of crickets). I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend to friends coming up here to visit.

Our new favorite campground!

The tent sites at the Pineola were nice with a gravel tent pad surrounded by nice soft grass, a picnic table and fire pit. The bathrooms were nicer and cleaner than I’ve ever seen at a campground. The 2 stand alone bathrooms had a toilet and shower with locking doors. Even though it was a busy 4th of July weekend I never had to wait. The taproom had a large selection of beers and live music on the deck. The food truck was convenient after a long hike. We were happy to not have to cook. We are planning on coming back soon. Lots to do in that area from checking out quaint mountain towns to remote hiking and fishing.

The automated text was very clear on the location of the tent site. The bathroom and showers were very close to the tent camping sites with the RV sites. They had a pub and a spring festival that weekend for Mother’s Day and we enjoyed it very much!

Very convenient and clean, but a large setup with rvs, cabins, and rooms, which is fine if you want that. It was perfect for us because it was off season so no one was around. Great pub on campus and personal were very friendly.
