Weekend Trip to Ancient Spring Farm

This was my second time coming to this wonderful spot. Rebecca does everything right. Last time I came solo and this time I came with my partner and his very anxious little dog. It was the dogs first time camping and they did great. They both loved it as much as I do. Can't wait to come back again.

Weekend Trip to Free Spirit Cottage @ Aurora Farm

We had an amazing time in this cute little cabin. We were warm, even though it was cold outside. We hung out in the inflatable hot tub and looked at the stars and will definitely be coming back.

Weekend Trip to Container Experience

I hosted some friends for my birthday at The Container Experience. We’d rented two of the three containers for 6 guys. It was a great trip, and we mostly used the containers for cooking and sleeping, spending most of the time outside in the common area and by the firepit. Practically, we fit 2 guys in each container (1 on the bed and 1 on the couch) and the other two camped on the lawn. Luckily we had perfect weather the whole weekend, as it would have been hard to enjoy good company if we’d all had to fit into the container! The kitchenette was sufficient for heating food up, and I’d also brought a cast iron and camp stove for more cook-ability outdoors. The best part was the availability of a hot shower right inside, and the large concrete pad for hanging around outside. We were surprised that there are other rentable units on the same property, so it felt more like a campground with lots of different groups in proximity. But everyone was kind and respectful, and the weekend was well worth it. I plan to go back sometime soon with my family!

Had a lovely quick overnight trip. Host was very friendly and super responsive. Greeted us upon arrival too. Site is nice and well maintained. Location is pretty too. Got the campfire package which is a huge bargain with plenty of wood for a nice fire. We car camped under the barn and was nice and dry after a quick morning shower passed over. Fairly quiet and peaceful. Looking forward to a return trip.

Our farm is a beautiful, private 25 acres with an 1830s house, outbuildings, animals, orchards, gardens, pastures, old trees, wildlife habitat, a spring, and woods. Here you can relax; watch nature; meet our chickens, goats, horse, cats, and dog; learn about archaeology, history, plants, and mead making; and get eggs and homegrown seasonal food. Listen to birdsong and watch clouds during the day, wander a path through our ca. 5 acres of woods, see fireflies in the evening, and star watch at night. Nearby are hiking, horseback riding, historical sites, fishing, antiques, wineries, shooting, and more. We are located in a rural area and have many different domesticated and wild animals so you may hear diverse animal noises and see or smell animal poop, although we try to keep things clean and tidy. Our neighbors have dogs, cattle, and chickens/roosters and occasionally shoot guns during daylight hours (one neighbor is a sporting club with skeet shooting and hunting dogs) but typically our farm is a quiet and peaceful place. We mow regularly and our rooster and chicken ladies wander far and wide eating bugs but, in the summer, they can't get every mosquito and tick so please plan accordingly for your own comfort.

While the main focus of Crossings is always to be a community farm, we love opening our home and farm to respectful visitors. The loft is over our farm store and accessed by a curved staircase (no door between) . The farm setting offers a comfy spot for someone looking for a quiet spot to relax and rest after a day exploring out and about. The cozy space it perfect for 2 people who are looking for a unique spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of their normal lives. The farm store space on the first floor is a public area that is frequented by our regular customers during the day, especially on Saturdays. We allow our Airbnb guests to lock the farm store from 6pm to 9am each night for ultimate privacy and enjoyment of the space. There is a bistro table can that be used for picking up take-out or a simple meal cooked on the wood stove or outdoor grill. The back porch is a perfect spot to enjoy a nice rock in our Troutman Co. rocking chairs while listening to the farm sounds and seeing our crew gather eggs, move the cows, or re-stock the Farm Store. Not in the mood to hike into a spot? You can pull straight into the driveway and park to the left of the farm store. Other things to note **Please note that you are staying on a working family farm. There are multiple farm animals (chickens, pigs, cows, horses, farm dogs and cats) that are in close proximity to the Farm Store. We ask that you maintain and do not go into the fenced areas, greenhouses or our barns for biosecurity. We also ask that you not feed the animals, even though they may come up to the fence. *We do have farm workers (including ourselves) who are in and round the farm all day feeding animals, tending to the garden areas, filling orders and re-stocking the farm store. All of our team will maintain social distancing, but feel free to ask any questions of them while you are here. *Saturdays are our "busier" days on the farm. Our Farm Store is "open" and staffed that day for our regular customer needs. We are normally cutting wood, moving animals, fixing fence, building structures, re-stocking the farm store, mowing and weed eating. *If you have any concerns around our Farm Loft stay, please reach out to us prior to booking so that we can answer any questions with transparency. We have tried to give you an honest picture of what our Farm Stay is like since we are a very active working farm.
