Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic.
While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.'
When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends.
Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind.
LOCAL ACTIVITIES:
To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away.
15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking.
Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away.
Heading east, you can find several fine wineries and vineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town.
About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday.
To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public.
To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river.
There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages.
Merlefest, the last weekend of April, a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town.

We have had several 40+ft rigs stay with us with no issue. For those not accustomed to mountain travel or new drivers please know that travel off NC 18 on the state road is a typical two lane paved mountain road with curves, some of which will require you to swing wide, a couple of areas of moderate incline but that does not exceed 8%, a short state maintained gapped section of gravel and an occasional low hanging branch. At the campsites there is a slight incline and some loose gravel.
Caution: Wildlife present in the area including bear, bobcat, deer, turkey.

Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground was a tobacco farm (antique tobacco barn still on property). The house was built in 1910 and has been updated. We purchased it in 2014 and converted it into a vineyard.
We have RV sites with 50 amp and 30 amp electric hookups and water, and tents sites. For 2023 our rates are $30/night for RV Sites (50 amp or 30 amp electric hookups and water) and $25/night for Tent Sites. Tent sites do not have electricity or water hookups, but water is available at the well. (Due to inflation, 2024 our rates will be $30/night for RV Sites, $25/night for Tent Sites.) We do not have a dump station, but we do have a Port A John
and a list of dump stations nearby.
Campfires are allowed unless we have a state issued burning ban. Campers are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires. Please be extremely careful during dry or drought conditions.
Conveniently located one mile from Hwy 421 but remote and peaceful with plenty of room to roam on our 22 acres with grapevines, fruit trees, forest, creeks, fields, goats, Beagle and Jackabee (Beagle/Jack Russell) dogs, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. Also, we have wildlife such as birds, squirrels, groundhogs, deer, raccoons, opossums, etc. We are about 15 miles from Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro (home of the Merle Fest and Apple Festival). Eden Oaks is 18 miles from W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir, 24 miles from Stone Mt. State Park, and 10 miles from Elkin (sponsors of the Wine Festival and Pumpkin Festival).
Eden Oaks is in the heart of the Yadkin Valley and Swan Creek AVAs
(American Viticultural Area).

The site was just as described, and I was able to get level without any blocks. My time there was quiet and pleasant. The only thing I would’ve liked was for the porta potty to be a bit fresher.

We loved camping on Christina's land! It was secluded and gave us the opportunity to really rest and relax when not in town for busy activities. Christina was responsive and they were so helpful, even lending a tarp to cover our site when a storm rolled in - providing extra security from the elements, without even being asked. The best part? THE VIEW! We are already talking about when the next trip will be. Thanks to Christina and family for their hospitality!

We had a great time! We were greeted at the gate when we got there and got into our spot without any issues. Had a chance to check.out some of the trails. The pre Cival War chimney was pretty cool and a little bit of a hike. Janet is a great host and the sites are very large.

This place is truly a little slice of heaven! The property is beautifully manicured with well-maintained trails, and our site was level, private, and peaceful. We loved seeing the deer and relaxing on the swing. There was also a fire pit with complimentary firewood available, which was a thoughtful touch.
The hosts were amazing and welcomed us so warmly- just genuinely great humans. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return!

With kids
I loved this spot! My little family and I camped three nights by the river and it was picture perfect. We swamp 3xs a day, cooked the fresh eggs and sausage from the farm that we purchased from the host, and the firewood bundle we bought was big and great.
We lucked out with being the only guests there and enjoyed the privacy so much. The host was kind and checked in. I would certainly return!
