3 nights at Hidden Acres Mountain Camping

Hidden Acres is truly a magical place to experience. So much thought and creativity has gone into each and every campsite. Spring Haven is the second site I have had the pleasure to stayed at. I appreciate our hosts for being so nice and welcoming to us. We had such a lovely time and have never relaxed more during our camping trips as we did this past weekend. The campsites are very spacious and not too close to each other so you can definitely have privacy if you want. I enjoyed the free range chickens that were always happy to greet you as you make your way to the bath house. The bath houses were always clean and are very nicely built as well. We also enjoyed feeding the fish in the water feature pond at Spring Haven. They were fun to watch. If you get a chance to experience Spring Haven or any sites available at Hidden Acres you won’t regret it. One of the best camps I have had!

Weekend Trip to Harmony Glen

June greeted us along with her furry friends. The land was gorgeous to walk around on. Wish we could've stayed more than 1 night but would look this place up to stay again. One thing to note on the driveway, we have a 23 ft RV and it was narrow for us with a tall leaning tree on one side and bushes.

Weekend Trip to Hidden Acres Mountain Camping

Great campground. Probably the nicest bathhouse I've ever been. Heated toilet seats? LOL I didn't even know that was a thing but I didn't hate it. Plenty of room to spread out and the handmade log benches and tables were a nice touch. Cheap firewood was available on site as well which was great for us on motorcycles since we couldn't bring any. Even had WiFi since there's spotty signal. Will definitely come back. Thank you for letting us stay!

We absolutely loved tent-camping here for the weekend! Large space for our family of 5. Beautiful views, quiet and peaceful. Facilities were clean and easily accessible. Super close to many trail and hiking options in the Smokies. We loved hearing the many sounds of nature as we fell asleep. Host was very kind and helpful. It was my first time camping ever. And It was an AMAZING TIME!! ⛺️ My boyfriend and I stayed at Woods & Water. Very peaceful, birds chirping, chickens clucking, surrounded by tall trees. It’s a great location because there is paradise falls, looking glass and other falls/hikes super driving distance. The creek was peaceful. Also very clean brand new bathrooms, heater and warm water shower right on site! It was a perfect private spot great for couples. The host was very kind, checked in on us and made sure we were good. My advice is to bring a lot of firewood and keep it safe 🪵 because it rained once and made every wet. The string lights were super cute and not too bright. Also the drive there is beautiful. There’s a small marketplace/gas station super close by down the road too. Thank you so much Georgianna!

My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. The views are hypnotic and look down and out over the continental divide. Good morning sun and sunsets can be seen in the same spot. Your car is parked within feet of your deck so Car Campers and experienced campers can enjoy. Designed with campers and dogs in mind. The deck is large (384 square feet) with a tin roof. Some roofs are full size, some 2/3rds and some 1/3rd, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. (See pictures of each site/deck) Each deck has sun and rain curtains for helping keep comfortable in normal weather. Dogs enjoy a two gate system so quests and dogs can be leash free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned weekly. Lights and electrical is 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets fans, etc. I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low level string lights so one can see the night sky. Many of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, fickle solar shower and pop up changing room along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial wipes. I provide various size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away and All Trails is a great app for finding trails suited for your interest. Be respectful to the place and please be friendly to the people you meet. Learn more about this land: Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well socialized dogs. Help me keep it dog friendly. Never block the road with a park car.

This property is situated on 50 acres, surrounded by private property with views of the nearby Pisgah National Forest and a 10 minute drive to DuPont State Forest. Campsites are adjacent to the French Broad River. Excellent fishing and boating. It is heavily populated by deer and other wildlife. For this reason, dogs must be kept on a leash. Please note that due to the campground being in low-lying land, the drive in is subject to being slick and muddy, 4WD is always recommended. Message us with any questions. Due to the property proximity to the river and situated in floodway, the sites are subject to flooding during heavy rain events. Voluntary and/or mandatory evacuation may be necessary during any reservation due to high waters or forecast for high water events. If evacuation is necessary, unused portions of reservation will be refunded. Campers are advised to be self-sufficient with water and shower facilities. We do provide a port a potty and firewood is for sale on site (Venmo, PayPal or cash). IF YOU ARE CAMPING WITH A RV OR TRAILER, PLEASE CONTACT US TO DISCUSS A SITE. Cherokee Waterfall Campground

Please read the entire listing because I have updated this page. The booking is for 2 people, any guest after the initial 2 or pet will be $10 per night. Add them as extra guests Pull down a paved road and get out of your car and sit down at a picnic table in front of a private waterfall! This site has a pull through, full hookup spot with 30amp for campers but tents are always welcome or a combination of the two. I've had a 33' camper, popup camper and 6 tents at this campsite all at the same time so there plenty of room for your family and friends! We're 2.5 miles from the Cherokee Casino and 3.5 miles from down town Cherokee If you're tired of crowded campgrounds then you'll love the privacy this campground offers. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November. There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund. Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm. No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. No fireworks. No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible) Do not cut down trees alive or dead If you move picnic tables please move them back Dogs are permitted but message me first to see if your do will be a good fit. There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. If your into that they would love to have you come down. The EBCI opened a dispensary around 3 miles from the campground. It will open to all adults over 21 starting September 7th 2024. Quiet Troublesome Gap

My parents bought the 120 acre property in the 1960s. I started clearing and building the campsite in 2019. Watch the sun rise on one side of Troublesome Gap and watch it set on the other side. There is a circle drive for 2 teardrop / squaredrop or pop up campers and plenty of spots to pitch tents. There are also great spots to hang your hammock. Camp where my family camps. My parents bought the property in the 1960s and we have camped up here, hiked, hunted, and cut firewood many weekends. We decided to share the property so you can enjoy camping up here too! The property is in a remote location where you can enjoy the wildlife and the cooler temps in the summer. You'll have 3 acres all to yourself. You wont have to share the spot with anyone else unless you bring them. The closest grocery store is an hour away but the Trust General Store with a restaurant and gas approximately is 7 miles away. There is also a burger joint (Dave's 209) on the way to the Trust General Store. This camping site is in a remote area and the nearest neighbor about 1/2 mile away. Max Patch is about 25 minutes away and features beautiful hiking. The quaint town of Marshall is about 30 minutes away. Asheville is about an hour away. The campsite is easily accessible from Baltimore Branch Road. However Baltimore Brand Road (public road) is steep in places and we don't recommend an RV bigger than a popup camper. If you are pulling a trailer you'll really want to consider having 4wd. If you aren't used to driving on steep dirt mountain roads, you may want to bring your 4wd vehicle. If you have a 2wd vehicle, then you'll want to come to the site via Big Pine Road. This route will take you through Walnut, NC We also provide a porta-a-john for your convenience. Once the reservation is made, I'll send out an info sheet with important info like the gate combination. Please let me know if you haven't received the info sheet within a week of making the reservation. The inclusion policy below is from HipCamp corporate. Our policy is much simpler. Be respectful to others and the property and have a good time. This is a campsite where have the whole 3.5 acre property to yourself. You are surrounded by properties that vary from 40 acres to over a hundred acres. You are with the people in your campsite and pretty much no one else. We just want you to have a great time and bring home great stories. It seems like every visitor to Troublesome Gap has a great story. Come camp with us and build your own story. Important Note: Water is only available on the site from May through September. If you camp on the site Oct through April, you'll need to bring your own water. There is a camera on the property. It faces the gate (and away from the campsite). The camera is mounted on the apple tree.

Overview

Maggie Valley is a cozy North Carolina mountain town that sits on the banks of Jonathan Creek. It’s 10 minutes from the Cataloochee Ski Area and makes an ideal basecamp for exploring the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway. Maggie Valley is close to hiking trails, mountain biking, and whitewater rafting. It also borders the Nantahala National Forest, where hundreds of miles of trails let you explore waterfalls, lakes, and old-growth trees. At 3,000 feet elevation, Maggie Valley is accessible year-round. The deciduous trees surrounding Maggie Valley put an an astonishing fall foliage display of golds, reds, and oranges each autumn

Where to go

Maggie Valley Area

Ten minutes from Maggie Valley is Soco Falls, an iconic double waterfall. The three mile section of Jonathan Creek that passes through town is designated Mountain Heritage Trout Water. There are multiple creekside RV parks and RV resorts with full hookups and wifi, as well as mountain cabins with hot tubs and glamping sites in this area. If you aren’t satisfied with your options in the Maggie Valley area, checkout nearby Waynesville or Asheville.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Maggie Valley is just below the Great Smoky Mountain National Park’s Balsam Mountain area. At 5,130 feet, the Balsam Mountain Campground has sites with picnic tables, fire rings, and mountain views. If you enter the center of the park on Route 441, you’ll intercept numerous hiking trails, including the Appalachian Trail and the approach road to Clingman’s Dome. There are beautiful hikes to waterfalls and lookouts throughout the park, and if you’re lucky, you’ll spot its famous fog or black bear residents. The park’s central campsites have excellent RV camping and tent camping, but book early for these popular spots.

Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway bisects Route 19 a few miles west of Maggie Valley. This scenic byway starts at nearby Cherokee and travels a whopping 469 miles to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. The Parkway traces the ridge-line of the Blue Ridge Mountains in a winding course with incredible views. There are multiple overlooks and spur-trails for hiking along the Parkway. It’s also a popular road ride for cyclists. The Waterrock Knob Visitor Center is a local highlight with great sunrise and sunset views.

When to go

Maggie Valley is a fun getaway year-round. Summer has the best temps and the most sunlight, fall has peak foliage, winter is ski season, and spring has powerful waterfalls and the least crowds. The summer is the busy season in this area, so book well in advance. Winter visitors should also be prepared for road conditions with snow and ice.
