This was my second time at Holly Forest- stayed in two different units and had a great experience both times. Jim and Becky are so welcoming and attentive to details. Even on a cold December night we were warm in The Lodge with the heated mattress pad. Thanks for having us!

We stayed at this cabin at Holly Forest for a few nights over thanksgiving. The cabin held our little family (2 adults 2 young kids) well on the loft bed and the pull-out couch. The grounds are beautiful and we had a ton of fun at the basketball court and the field next to it. We cooked food in the provided toaster oven/air fryer but could have easily used the common area equipment too (grill, griddle pan, pizza oven). Hosts were responsive to our needs. Bathrooms were clean and close to our cabin. We would come back!

Monte and Tracy (and Woody of course) are wonderful hosts and you don’t leave there without establishing a long term friendship! 50amp, water and sewer hookups were all new and worked perfectly. They held an evening fire down at the wood pile where all the guests are welcome and encouraged to come, have a beer, relax and tell stories! Great nature walks to see beaver dams or other critters of the beautiful surrounding woodlands. Our dog Cali loved the nature walks! We will definitely come back to visit our new friends again!

Weekend Trip to Kerr Lake Glamping at Holly Forest

It was quite cold at night but we were given a space heater and the mattress had heating pads on both sides of the bed. The common areas had large space heaters and the showers gave us super nice hot water. It was so very cozy. We enjoyed fishing on their pond. The bathroom was so close to the lodge, we really didn’t need the golf cart they gave us, but it was fun to have anyways. They had huge jackery batteries that they made sure were full daily. This was genuinely a glamping experience. I loved it because we still definitely felt like we were “camping” just with high end amenities. We envisioned the entire space would be so perfect for any kind of weekend event just with all the different facilities within the sight. We stayed with our pups and they loved seeing the cows in the morning!! First time we took them camping and they did so great. We had a great stay :)

The site was lovely, but not as private as I’d hoped. I could see the neighbors, and hear everything from the neighboring campers on the other side of the barn. The property was beautiful. My dog really enjoyed walking around and seeing the donkeys and such. I never did locate the trail. If you pay extra for it, like I did, ask for specific directions for it.

We stayed at the screen house for one night and wish we could have stayed another night. The screen house itself was top notch… secluded yet close to the main area, clean, well maintained, and cozy. Jim and Becky did a great job of adding conveniences to the experience with heated beds, battery for charging, lighting, cooler with ice, bathhouse, cooking area with seating, and more. There are a few different options for accommodations including glamping tent, screen houses, and a cute little cabin with a loft. This is a great place for a group. They can cook together and enjoy the community space, very cozy. We will be back.

I found this camping option when looking for a place that had a shelter we could camp under. My daughter and I go camping every fall and the night we were supposed to go camping it was supposed to rain, a lot. And it did. I reached out to Emma to see if we could secure a cover to place our tent under and she had one available. The location was cool, as it's about 150 yards from the Neuse River Greenway. They also have horses, so my daughter was thrilled to pet them. We fished some in the river and caught one fish. James, Emma's son, I think, met us when we arrived and showed us to our site. He's great and seemed excited we were there. He was helpful in giving us the lay of the land. Overall it was a great experience. The heavy rain on the tin roof of the cover kept us up most of the night but it was better than a wash out. I think we'll camp here again, but we do like to experience new places, so it may be a couple of years. I do highly recommend trying it out if you're looking for a place. It was unique (in a good way) and a good change from somewhere like Falls Lake campground.

Christopher was very responsive to every message, and he showed us around the property when we arrived. He even had his own farm fresh eggs and honey for sale. The campsite was on a well-mowed area, tucked into a corner by the forest. We really enjoyed walking on the path along the edge of the woods and through the pollinator meadow. I photographed at least eight butterfly species on the wildflowers, and saw a few more than that.
