We are 15 minutes from Blue Ridge Parkway with 2-lane, less traveled access road to get there.

The treehouses are quiet, secluded, and actually border GSMNP property and Cherokee National Forest land; the Appalachian Trail at Davenport Gap is ¾ mile away. Nearby GSMNP entrances: Big Creek is 2.5 mi, Cosby at 8 miles. Only 3 to the Pigeon River whitewater section, and accessible to hundreds of miles of mountain biking and hiking roads/trails.
Each treehouse was built by hand by hosts (husband/wife team) Anthony and Brenna. A long history of camping and working in the outdoor recreation industry inspired a design to intentionally interact with nature. By utilizing rain collection, solar power generation, composting toiletries, outdoor cooking, each treehouse is completely off-grid.
Rest from your adventures on the comfy, queen and full-sized beds. A spacious queen bottom bunk and lofted double mattress can accommodate four adult campers. All bed linens and pillows are provided.
The treehouses offer private, indoor bathing and toilet facilities. Every treehouse is equipped with a propane-heated, rain-collection shower and maintenance-free, vented composting toilet. All bath towels/washcloths, plus shampoo/wash are provided in each treehouse bathroom.
You can dine al fresco in the trees! The kitchenette boasts wide concrete countertop table dining with four stools, two-burner propane cooktop, potable water and drain sink, and separate propane grill. Provided cookware includes pots, pans, cooking/grill tools and utensils, cutting board and knife. There are complete place settings for 4 glampers, plus coffee percolator and mugs (bring ground coffee.) There is no refrigerator, bring your own cooler and ice.
Unique, spectacular views of nature are seen from each treehouse. Snowbird Mountain to North, Mt Sterling to East, Chestnut Mountain to West and Mt Cammerer to South.

When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling.
Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood.
You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7.
Note: Since we opened in October, 2014, guest reviews consistently tell us us best thing about staying at Good Egg is being off the grid and the treadmill of modern life, unplugging from the dominant culture and experiencing oneself as humans did 100 years ago and more.
Whether it’s the absence of electricity (in the cabin), the quiet of the country, no city glow in the night sky, or the once common experience of the natural world dominating over human-made or human-crafted things, it’s astonishing for many of us to see and feel and experience without constant communications via text and email and the distractions of modern life. The treehouses are quiet, secluded, and actually border GSMNP property and Cherokee National Forest land; the Appalachian Trail at Davenport Gap is ¾ mile away. Nearby GSMNP entrances: Big Creek is 2.5 mi, Cosby at 8 miles. Only 3 to the Pigeon River whitewater section, and accessible to hundreds of miles of mountain biking and hiking roads/trails.
Each treehouse was built by hand by hosts (husband/wife team) Anthony and Brenna. A long history of camping and working in the outdoor recreation industry inspired a design to intentionally interact with nature. By utilizing rain collection, solar power generation, composting toiletries, outdoor cooking, each treehouse is completely off-grid.
Rest from your adventures on the comfy, queen and full-sized beds. A spacious queen bottom bunk and lofted double mattress can accommodate four adult campers. All bed linens and pillows are provided.
The treehouses offer private, indoor bathing and toilet facilities. Every treehouse is equipped with a propane-heated, rain-collection shower and maintenance-free, vented composting toilet. All bath towels/washcloths, plus shampoo/wash are provided in each treehouse bathroom.
You can dine al fresco in the trees! The kitchenette boasts wide concrete countertop table dining with four stools, two-burner propane cooktop, potable water and drain sink, and separate propane grill. Provided cookware includes pots, pans, cooking/grill tools and utensils, cutting board and knife. There are complete place settings for 4 glampers, plus coffee percolator and mugs (bring ground coffee.) There is no refrigerator, bring your own cooler and ice.
Unique, spectacular views of nature are seen from each treehouse. Snowbird Mountain to North, Mt Sterling to East, Chestnut Mountain to West and Mt Cammerer to South.

When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling.
Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood.
You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7.
Note: Since we opened in October, 2014, guest reviews consistently tell us us best thing about staying at Good Egg is being off the grid and the treadmill of modern life, unplugging from the dominant culture and experiencing oneself as humans did 100 years ago and more.

This cabin was the perfect mountain escape—quiet, tucked into a ravine, and surrounded by winding roads and beautiful views. We arrived late Friday, please note when arriving in the dark it may be a bit hard to find but for us it just added to the laughs. There was no signal out near the cabin, so it took a bit of teamwork, but we got it figured out.
Saturday was all about the outdoors: breakfast at Bear Necessities Café, then hiking Amicalola Falls (about 40 mins away, but again we appreciated the drive through the mountains and we're not rushed to do anything). We tackled the 425+ stairs at the falls, and tag-teamed carrying our dog, who absolutely refused the metal steps 😂. Sunday’s rain slowed things down in the best way—gold mine tour, incredible Mediterranean food at Pharaoh’s Feast, then soaking in the hot tub and ending each night with a campfire. Peaceful, cozy, and dog-friendly. Couldn’t ask for more.

This was a perfect weekend getaway! We only stayed a single night, but this tiny gem is equipped with everything you need. Beautiful setting, even in winter.
We weren't concerned but we were wondering how well heated the cabin would be. When we woke in the morning it was 24F, feels like 9F, and we had had a toasty night. Blankets provided were perfect. Space heater was excellent. The floor and bottom level were cooler, but the heat rising to the sleeping loft necessitated turning on the fan to circulate and ease a bit of stuffiness, as crazy as that is.
And the hot tub was blessedly HOT, even in the freezing weather. Towels provided. We thoroughly enjoyed a bit of stargazing even with the string lights lit.
We wished we had remembered our firewood. The fire pit by the creek is so inviting, with log formed benches and a bar height one for ease with refreshments. It was still a great coffee spot in the morning.
Jodi and her team are excellent communicators. I was able to consult with them about some of the forest roads in the area as we wanted to do the short day hike to the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. MAJOR TIP: approach the parking lot from the north/west direction on the forest service road.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The view is the star of the show. Add a hot tub and fire pit and that’s a bonus. Inside is very comfortable and cozy. The kitchen setup was adequate. It could use a toaster/counter top convection oven. The grill outside worked well however. Also the fridge was a good size for the 4 nights we stayed. Google maps ends short of your destination so getting there was a bit confusing. We were lucky Ravi was on sight to escort us. Hopefully better signage will be added. The road is a bit rough but manageable for the last 1/4 mile or so. Again, once there, it’s all about the view and the isolation. Shower was roomy and nice. The bed was huge and comfy. The geo-domes were close but it all felt private enough and our neighbors were quiet. It’s close to the Smokies which was our draw but not much else. Fine by us as we didn’t even leave the premises for a day and a half. Did I mention the view?

This little cabin was cozy and had all the necessities! A shower, toilet, bed, and outdoor stove top and grill! Its even supplied with chairs to sit on, cookware, utensils, cleaning supplies! But the best part is, its away from everything.. not gonna walk outside and see anyone next door.
The owner Brenna is wonderful and very communicative. She even made a binder with tips and things to do nearby!
I was very impressed with the rainwater shower being heated well and quickly along with the compost toilet as it doesn't smell at all. We want to come back again!!
Also, last but not least there is alot of shade provided by the trees making it alot cooler even with hot weather. The cabin is very clean and was bug free. Perfect little getaway!

Staying at Smoky Mountain Sky Camp was a dream! The treehouse was the perfect place to start and end every day with my best friend. From cooking breakfast on the front porch to ending the night by the campfire under the stars, this was a magical glamping experience! You are literally in the trees on the side of the mountain and it is so quiet and peaceful. Everything in the treehouse is so well thought out from the usage of the space for the beds, bathroom and heated rainwater shower, to the supply cabinet where everything is labeled and a guestbook with clear instructions on how to use each area. Brenna was a great communicator and this place made for the perfect home base to see the Smokies.
Do note that the last 10 miles to the house is a very curvy, but paved road that boarders the National Park, so getting there before dark is quite helpful. Brenna gave us great directions so it was easy to find, and the drive was beautiful. We even saw a black bear cross the road (as well as squirrels, rabbits, and a possum). This treehouse is truly a nature lovers dream! Thanks for sharing your home in the woods with us!

Brenna did such an awesome job making our group feel right at home in the woods. A perfect balance of rustic comforts, VERY comfortable beds, and being deep woods. The property is set up as good if not better than a national park, way more cozy, without the traffic, all the campsite amenities you could hope for and very clear helpful instructions from Brenna, she doesn’t leave you guessing at all, and can feel comfortable and confident in respecting their space. We stayed with two couples in a treehouse and had an awesome time. Cooked lots of food (brought our own cast iron pot for larger meals) and bring plenty extra water if there’s more than two of you. Five gallons goes quick if you are making coffee, cooking, and hiking.
The trails on property were also so amazing, perfect for stretching our legs out after a late arrival being stuck in accident riddled interstate traffic. I immediately had my shoes off to enjoy the cushy moss bedded trails of the forest floor. These folks are awesome! Their property truly shows their passion for nature.

Weekend Trip to Smoky Mountain Sky Camp - Cosby
My husband and I spent 2 nights here and it was the PERFECT weekend getaway! It feels very secluded. I loved that we could not see or hear the other cabins. We really felt alone in the woods. The cabin is simple and cozy. You are able to get the “unplugged, off-the-grid” feel without sacrificing convenience. It really is equipped with everything you need so don’t worry about packing a lot. We could have just brought food, a flashlight and our clothing and been just fine. The only thing that would have been nice to bring would have been an over-the fire-grate or a big cast iron pan for cooking over the fire if you would rather do that than use the stove. The little trails were also great. Don’t be deceived by the lack of mileage; the incline is pretty intense and still provides a great workout. We loved it and will definitely be back!

Where to go
Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Blending the border of North Carolina and Tennessee, Great Smoky Mountains National Park is an action-packed nature playground north of Franklin. Featuring frontcountry and backcountry campsites, group camping, and horse campsites, campers can hike or horseback ride the surrounding trails from base camp. Step into the largest nearby national forest just moments from Franklin. Offering on-site campgrounds with tent sites, cabin rentals, RV campsites, and group camping, Nantahala National Forest provides serenity year-round. Home to over 600 miles of trails, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and off-highway vehicles are popular throughout the area. With winding rivers and plenty of waterfalls, the forest also hosts fishing, hunting, and white water rafting. Picnic areas throughout the park make this the perfect place for a single-day trip or multi-day getaway.

Franklin’s unforgettable environment provides campers with adventure every season. Late spring to early fall sees warmer temperatures ideal for tenting, backpacking, and RVs without heat. Reaching average highs over 80°F in the summer months and average lows dropping to the 40s in the shoulder months, campers should plan ahead to enjoy some of the area’s water activities comfortably. The winter months bring highs around 50°F and drop below freezing overnight, so cold weather camping experience or cabin rentals are recommended this time of year.
