Weekend Trip to Riverside Retreats

I liked tent camping here because of the access to the river and the private scenery. It was good for hammocks and tents plus was very close to go to Hanging rock state park. Will definitely be back!

2 nights at Infinity Acres Ranch

Actually we were moved to the Lakeside Campsite based on our needs and Laura's recommendation. Thank you. Laura and Rick were fantastic hosts, they don't come any better. From the time we arrived, to the time we left, we were made to feel at home. The campsite was clean and very scenic. The animals were amazing, each with their own personality. Laura and Rick do amazing things for the animals in their care, as well as the interactive experiences with schools, special needs children, nursing homes, and churches. If you have the time, a Llama walk through their trails will restore your soul. It truly felt like staying in Narnia. Greatly recommend staying at Infinity Acres, we will be back soon.

This was my second time coming to this wonderful spot. Rebecca does everything right. Last time I came solo and this time I came with my partner and his very anxious little dog. It was the dogs first time camping and they did great. They both loved it as much as I do. Can't wait to come back again.

1 night at Rural Chapel Hill Forestry Stay

This place is amazing, well off the road and quiet. It did rain, so the owner allowed us to park on the driveway, which was just as good as being in the field. They really have a hidden gem out here. Their driveway is super long and adds to the feeling of being even more hidden away from society...it was an easy drive in, plenty of room. They have big plans for the area out there and I see them having nothing but success!

We arrived at The Rocky Knoll late in the day, during a break in the rain- to find a beautiful vista overlooking woodlands covered in mist with the mountains beyond! The site had a couple of lawn chairs, two picnic tables and benches waiting for us, and if the weather had been drier we would’ve loved to have built a fire in pit with some of available stacked firewood. We have a campervan, so we didn’t use the tent area, but appreciated the care that was taken in making that space easy for pitching a tent. We also appreciated the circular driveway- it was so much more convenient to circle around, rather than backing out. All in, we loved the care invested in the site and the privacy it offered! We’d love to return someday!

We genuinely enjoyed staying here. The family greeted us with smiles, giving us a tour around the property. We stayed in the shade and got to fish. Different types of fish too! Only caution, ticks. Within the first few minutes of setting up camp myself and my Sister In Law had a tick on us. So, make sure you have repellent.

This site feels like a state park campground all to yourself! Spacious with beautiful views and a nice breeze. The tent pad was wonderful, and the owners have left comfortable chairs and a nice picnic table to make your camping convenient. We didn’t use the poop shed, but it was adorable.

My friend and I found this spot to “meet in the middle” for one night with our dogs (she’s in Durham and I’m in Greensboro). We had a great evening. Super convenient. Would definitely return. Easy directions to the campsite. Felt very private while we were hanging out at campsite. Yet still close to town/conveniences if needed. We made a quick trip to the brewery down the street and it was great. Didn’t interact with the host at all bc there was no need. His Instructions were clear and accurate. Everything mentioned in the post was available and easy to find - including fire wood, which was greatly appreciated!

The fallen trees were harvested and the land was cleared and a pond was built and a blueberry patch was planted. Pitch your tent(s) in our private meadow with a small pond on our 21 acre property. You're welcome to fish and walk around the property. Enjoy a peaceful evening by the firepit and the beautiful starry nights. We have a very friendly farm dog named Luna that does roam the property and will likely visit you. Chapel Hill, Mebane, and Hillsborough are all short drives from your campsite. Our farm is a beautiful, private 25 acres with an 1830s house, outbuildings, animals, orchards, gardens, pastures, old trees, wildlife habitat, a spring, and woods. Here you can relax; watch nature; meet our chickens, goats, horse, cats, and dog; learn about archaeology, history, plants, and mead making; and get eggs and homegrown seasonal food. Listen to birdsong and watch clouds during the day, wander a path through our ca. 5 acres of woods, see fireflies in the evening, and star watch at night. Nearby are hiking, horseback riding, historical sites, fishing, antiques, wineries, shooting, and more. We are located in a rural area and have many different domesticated and wild animals so you may hear diverse animal noises and see or smell animal poop, although we try to keep things clean and tidy. Our neighbors have dogs, cattle, and chickens/roosters and occasionally shoot guns during daylight hours (one neighbor is a sporting club with skeet shooting and hunting dogs) but typically our farm is a quiet and peaceful place. We mow regularly and our rooster and chicken ladies wander far and wide eating bugs but, in the summer, they can't get every mosquito and tick so please plan accordingly for your own comfort.
