My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. My Neighbor has started his own Campsite, "The Swimming Hole". If mine is booked up and you still want to camp, look him up. His is better suited for small groups but has much more privacy. We have a new road to the campsite; you can now drive down with two-wheel drive vehicle or RV down and park near your tent! There is plenty of soft sand to set up one tent or ten tents; large groups are welcome for an extra fee. A Porta-Potty is available at the campsite. Swimming is usually possible at the base of the falls; however, large amounts of rain can change conditions and make it unusable. I should also add, this is not a completely private campsite deep in the woods. The camp is visible from a shared driveway, and my residence is up a hill that overlooks the area. Also, I do not own the land on the other side of the stream. Occasionally, the owners of that land will spend a weekend afternoon enjoying the waterfall view also. Still much quieter and more private than a regular campground. Glamping tents and additional camping tents are available through a local company. Weekend Trip to Barnhill Mountain in Fletcher, NC

We had a great time and will definitely be back! The view was great and the site felt private. It was honestly hard to pick which fire pit we wanted to use. If you’re tent camping the top one is probably better. We used the bottom pit since we were truck camping. The closed in shed serves as a good shelter in case of inclement weather and the on-site outhouse was a nice added feature as well. I feel like the price is reasonable as well, not too cheap but not too expensive either. There are a good bit of downed trees around but not much can be done about that and I believe it’s helped open up the view too. Overall we were very happy and will definitely be coming back!

Amazing property, with thoughtful planned out campground. I love to sleep outside in the hammock and this was an extraordinary experience for my wife and daughter staying at Luna Glamping spot. Great showers, the spa spot is so ingeniously tucked away while having the freedom of enjoying a beautiful evening under the stars. Will definitely return.

The campground is well organized, clean, and has beautiful views. The only downside is if you are staying towards the back of the property the bathroom is a long walk away, but the scenery is so lovely we didn’t mind! Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to TangleWood Creekside Campsites

All of us absolutely loved TangleWood. We'll definitely stay again. The property was beautiful, safe, clean, quiet and VAST. Blair recommended a perfect site with privacy and the stream wrapping around it: Buckeye Bank. We had a tent, truck and and a small camper van. There was plenty of room. Driving in along the stream to our spot were a few other cool options for stays (mini homes, safari tents). The sites are well spread out and the pora-johns (about one per 2 sites) were immaculate. We went on 2 hikes on their enormous property. Our dogs played in the stream together right beside our campfire. The stars were magnificent. We'd love to come back again.

This was the perfect spot for us. A group of long time friends wanting to spend time together. Have some comforts that make it easier then camping but still enjoy the outside was a perfect fit. The tent was incredible and the location was secluded. Definitely hope to make it back here in the future.

Blair was an exceptional host. He takes great care of his guests and responded to things very promptly. He brought up a second solar generator for us because the first wasn't fully charged and got us tiki torch oil when we needed it. The property is beautiful and I definitely plan on going back. The hilltop safari tent is a great spot and I highly recommend it. The tent was in immaculate shape and ready for us to have a great weekend.

William’s campground was so lovely. Plenty of room to spread out and explore. The stars, oh my gosh! We loved sitting at the shared lookout point at night and just staring up at the sky. Check out the spa add-on! The sauna was perfect on a chilly Fall day. Would love to come back in the warmer months.

The host responded very quickly to any requests. I love this site and have been twice now. It’s cute, each spot has its own privacy and I love having the security of the locked gate. Well maintained and perfect location to get to any hikes around.

Weekend Trip to Starlight Hills

This was a really awesome camp site, a lot of great views, good amenities, and great location. The actual sites are a bit close together but still spread out enough that you have you privacy, and there’s a lot of great views around the camp. They had running water which we used to refill our bottles, and the showers were really nice and got very hot. If you need wood, then the bundles they offer supply plenty for a long trip. The sites also were set up very smart with plenty of room for parking, a hook to hang up either food or a lantern, and a large container of water given to you for the fires. I would definitely come back here if I was in the area again.

We loved our visit and will very likely return! The safari tent was exactly as described, and it made for an easy and relaxing overnight after a big hiking day. Really enjoyed the creekside spot, winding-down around the fire-pit and the Adirondack chairs on the deck. Other campers were around but were no bother. The peaceful sound of the creek reduced any noise, plus wooden dividers around sites increased privacy. Thank you Blair for hosting us!

Amazing campsite. The glamping tents were spacious, clean, and the beds were so comfy! The sites themselves were spacious with a picnic table and fire ring. Definitely would stay again.
