The E-volving Hearts Wellness Farm is 14 acres of mostly wooded land in Old Fort, NC. Just a short drive to Black Mountain and approximately a 30 minute drive to Asheville. Here at the farm we provide a sanctuary setting for humans and animals and provide Equine Facilitated Wellness with our two mini rescue horses. We are offering our small, semi private (we and two other tenants live on the property), primitive campsite area to the public this fall in order to generate income to support our mini horses in their continued rehabilitation process. While you are simply renting the campsite, if you desire to participate in some Equine Facilitated Wellness I'd be grateful to discuss adding this to your stay. The campsite is a small tent area carved into the woods near the front of the property and is next to our cleared pasture area and Ceremonial Grounds. It is a short walk from the outhouse and while there is no running water, we will happily fill up jugs. While the property is 14 acres, due to the private dwellings, any private wellness sessions that might be happening on the property, and the fact that we have not recovered our trails after Hurricane Helene, we will ask that you limit your activity to the space provided. Please note that we have many roosters who enjoy celebrating the coming of the morning light! We also have the friendly, mostly free-ranging "Bird Herd". There are coyotes that hunt in the fields around us and bring their celebrations at night and we aren't sure if Little Bear has moved along or not. Overall, this is a great place for those who want more privacy than a campground but don't want to haul yourself deep into the wilderness. You are safe and secure on the property but do know that wildlife is all around. We welcome those who are quiet, peaceful, with an open mind and open heart who are willing and able to honor this sanctuary. We cannot have dogs on the property. PLEASE DO NOT ASK. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, a fickle solar shower, and a pop-up changing room, along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial. I provide various-size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away, and All Trails is an excellent app for finding trails suited for your interests. Be respectful to the place and please be friendly to the people yo Learn more about this land: Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well-socialized dogs. Welcome to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina! At approximately 3,455 feet elevation we enjoy mountain breezes all summer PLEASE DO NOT ‘photo book’! We ask guests to please read through the details BEFORE booking a site. For example: not all tent sites are park at sites. Some of our more secluded sites in the woods are far from bathrooms etc. Sites near the winery/bathrooms are not secluded and you can see/hear ‘people’. The ‘wildlife’ sites require parking in guest parking and a 5 minute walk. As of Jan 2025 we change to an age 13+ campground. No one under the age of thirteen years old is permitted to camp overnight. Younger children will still be permitted to visit the winery next door to the campground during open hours but must have an adult (18 years plus) with them at ALL times! Due to an incident that could have ended in tragedy we have a zero tolerance policy of unsupervised children. You will be asked to leave if your young child is unattended by an adult. During the summer months we often have free range chicken eggs and organic produce and herbs available for our campers. We are next to our own winery/cidery that features home brew wines and beer. We also offer sodas. Firewood is for sale. You may bring your own firewood as long as it’s not from out of state. We have a few primitive sites in our woods for those who love more seclusion and places to hang hammocks. Again, PLEASE read through all the descriptions of each particular site to make certain you choose the right fit for your camping needs. We offer Hiking/jogging trails at the campground with more trails on the nearby blue ridge parkway. We are just around the corner from the famous Emerald Village Mines and only a 5 minute drive to downtown Little Switzerland. We are also only a 5 minutes drive to the famous Diamondback scenic mountain road. Approximately 20 minutes drive to Crabtree Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our cantina next door at 539 blue ridge gem mine road is open for the season and serving home brew beers and small batch ciders for ages 21 and older. Photo ID required. Sodas available for purchase as well. We now have a well lit covered porch area and club house with free WiFi and available 24 hours to our campers. Note: absolutely no outside alcohol or underage alcohol consumption permitted on premises. Anyone not in compliance with North Carolina state laws and federal laws will be evicted from campgrounds without refunds. If the campgrounds happen to be under a burn ban please understand that we can’t and will not break the law for you! All campers must obey the burn ban if in effect or face possible penalties under state law! This is for your own safety as well. Anything sold by us may be legally consumed at your campsite and is covered under our winery ABC permit. Camp host can’t go to bed until all campers are checked in so no late night arrivals please! Thank you for your understanding. Adult horseback trail rides are available at nearby Springmaid Mountain Retreat. Maps provided to Springmaid Mountain. All minors must have ADULT supervision at all times at the winery next door (older siblings do not qualify as adult supervision). With farm animals and 140 acres of woods nearby and three deep ponds in those woods it can be a dangerous situation for young, unsupervised children. If we are babysitting your children to keep them out of danger or from damaging our property you’ll be asked to leave. We want everyone to be safe. Up to 2 dogs are allowed per campsite. Dogs Must remain on leash at all times and have proof of up to date rabies vaccination. We have chickens and horses on our mini farm so please keep dogs under control at all times. Also, please do not feed our chickens, horses or any of the wildlife on our property. It is the responsibility of our campers to check the weather conditions, noting any burn bans for the area or rain etc, looking at all the rules and property details, before booking is the campers responsibility. Please do not blame the host! HipCamp now offers rainy day insurance Watch for our special events like ghost story campfire tales/walk with local guest authors, mountain yoga, herbal remedies classes, trail treasure hunts with prizes, mushroom identification classes etc. Additional parking is available for added cars in the guest parking lot area if campers have no more room at their campsite for visitors or any extra cars. We have a hot/cold shower and modern style flush toilets available in large cargo container. We also now have free Starlink WiFi in the Cantina/clubhouse area and some of the closer tent sites. Our clubhouse stays open for campers 24/7 with a microwave available, games, television and comfortable seating areas. Note: The quarter mile of gravel drive is steep but I drive my two wheel drive car up and down it every day. However, if you have a vehicle that chugs and struggles up hills (older RV etc) you may find it a challenge. We are working on getting that section paved to help out the older RVs and buses. Caught without a last minute hotel room and rather not park your family in Walmart lot? We offer car camping in our parking lot for $15.00 a night. You’ll have access to bathrooms and a hot shower! We also have tents, sleeping bags and camping mats for rent. Summer of 2025 will be our third year open and there have been many wonderful improvements! ❤️ We made it through Hurricane Helene with minimal damage and with the help of some kind volunteers we have some great updates!

My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. My Neighbor has started his own Campsite, "The Swimming Hole". If mine is booked up and you still want to camp, look him up. His is better suited for small groups but has much more privacy. We have a new road to the campsite; you can now drive down with two-wheel drive vehicle or RV down and park near your tent! There is plenty of soft sand to set up one tent or ten tents; large groups are welcome for an extra fee. A Porta-Potty is available at the campsite. Swimming is usually possible at the base of the falls; however, large amounts of rain can change conditions and make it unusable. I should also add, this is not a completely private campsite deep in the woods. The camp is visible from a shared driveway, and my residence is up a hill that overlooks the area. Also, I do not own the land on the other side of the stream. Occasionally, the owners of that land will spend a weekend afternoon enjoying the waterfall view also. Still much quieter and more private than a regular campground. Glamping tents and additional camping tents are available through a local company. Look in the pictures for the tent with red, white, and blue balloons. Message me for details. Close to US National Whitewater Center (mountain biking, whitewater rafting, kayaking), Kings Mountain National Military Park (Horseback riding and history), Crowders Mountain (Hiking), 3 miles off of I-85 and US-321 for people passing through.

3 nights at Outercamp, Blue Ridge Falls Retreat

I can’t say enough about how great this place is! The property is beautiful, and also secure. I felt safe being there. The different sites are far enough from one another that you don’t feel like you’re there with anyone or on top of each other. The yurt itself (I stayed in the Gnome) was clean and well kept, had every thing I could need or want. It was comfortable and felt very cozy on the chilly nights. Sitting on the deck for breakfast and dinner was perfect. The view is beyond words! Having utensils, propane heat, electricity for basics like charging electronics, and everything I need for cooking was perfect. Add on top of that the little additional things like games, towels, a little rechargeable and portable lamp, and cleaning supplies, this place was perfect! Even if I never left the property it was an amazing vacation with great hiking and a beautiful serene escape. My dogs both loved being able to explore off leash and I never felt like they were unsafe. I’m already planning my trip back next fall with my entire family!

Weekend Trip to Barnhill Mountain in Fletcher, NC

Edwin’s Hipcamp was wonderful! It has a very remote feel without being too far away from a few other houses on the mountain. The road up the mountain was very windy, but the directions provided were easy to follow and we had no issues. There is a small shack at the tent site with some solar powered lights, camping supplies, and even a wooden bed you could use to get shelter from rain or wind. The views here at night of the city and stars were incredible! Would definitely camp here again if in the Asheville area. Also for anyone with dogs, there was a long lead that will give your pup room to roam at the site! We did hear some trees fall during the night as it was very windy and many other trees were already fallen. I would definitely be cautious of where you place your tent.

The ability to cook some warm meals on the stove was helpful, and not have to deal with a tent was very convenient. Mattresses on the bunks were comfy. We loved hammock camping here! There were enough space for us to comfortably fit two hammocks and a tent. The fire pit was elevated which was really convenient for cooking. There were also pretty walking trails that were decorated for Halloween (we went in October). Would definitely come again!

Starlight Hills provides great privacy while still providing the amenities of a larger campground such as showers and potable water. The overlook provides an excellent view of the surrounding area, and it is only a couple hundred yards from the site we stayed at. The campsite itself was quite spacious with a good size fire ring, and other sites seemed similar. Would recommend and stay there again if I’m in the area again.
