The sight has a campfire ring, free firewood and a table with 4 chairs. The owners will not disturb you at your camping site but may use the south end of the lot near the pond. We are a dog-friendly location. Off-leash is okay, as long as your dog responds reliably to recall commands and is friendly with children and small dogs. The owners have two small dogs who are occasionally off-leash. Looking to explore off-site? Ithaca: Cascadilla Meadow is located just 5 minutes from Cornell University and 10 minutes from all downtown Ithaca has to offer. Ithaca is well known for its many incredible restaurants, Farmers Market, local stores and art, theatre, wineries and breweries and of course, live music. Finger Lakes: In just 10-20 minutes from this location, you will find an abundance of waterfalls including Ithaca Falls, Buttermilk Falls and Taughannock Falls. Cayuga Lake is great for Sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Lake swimming is available at Myers Park in Lansing or Taughannock State Park outside of Trumansburg. Jump off a diving board into the pool at the bottom of Lower Treman Falls or hike upper Treman to Lucifer Falls, possibly the most beautiful short hike you’ll ever find. The area has hundreds of incredible hiking trails to choose from. Plus, Seneca Lake and the Finger Lakes Wine Trail are just a bit farther west! Jan and Ken are great hosts and their attention to detail is unmatched. The tub is deep. Its the perfect place to visit. Cannot recommend it enough.

We absolutely loved staying here! We are full-time trailer-towers and have a sweet older pup. Although we booked stays at Treman as with previous years, this time required four moves in two weeks, so I looked for alternatives. Summer Dream popped up only 15 minutes from my Dad's house near the Commons. PERFECT! Tina is a lovely host - from the first conversation to our goodbyes, she made sure we were comfortable and then some. The area where our trailer sat was level, drop and go. You do need to be right next to her trailer though, as the hookups are in an enclosed box behind her trailer. The land was treed and mowed, with a cute picnic table, a fire pit, and wood available. The best part was the quiet, as cars were not frequent and nobody walks by. We were able to walk a few miles daily with no issues which was wonderful for the dog. I'm already looking forward to next year, so better beat me to it! :)

The location was perfect! We were just a short drive from Watkins Glen, Buttermilk Falls, and Taughannock. The site itself was spacious, with full hookups and plenty of room for our two doodles to play. Tina was a wonderful host—attentive and friendly, checking in each day without ever being intrusive. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely camp here again!

Another great visit tent camping at Cascadilla Meadow! Janelle is a fantastic and responsive host, we greatly appreciate the firewood and water they provided. There’s hiking spots within walking distance from the site, and the location isn’t far from many other neat hiking spots. The goldenrod in the meadow are so lovely this time of year too :) absolutely recommend!!

I stayed for 5 nights and loved it. Lots of birds and sounds of wildlife here. The property is beautiful. There was fire wood and water waiting at the site. Minimal to no service with Verizon in the area. Comfortable bike ride into the university for this area.

Nicely located to be quiet yet quick to central Ithaca and the many other attractions nearby. The Host is very helpful when needed, and there is a set of good hookups that she shares with visitors. Also nice tent sites and a fire ring. But this is basically a simple place for a couple or a small family just to unwind, kick back and enjoy time in a peaceful setting. All the while being close to the action. Perfect for what it does.

Tina’s property was a perfect spot to rest for me and my pup. It is a beautiful shady property with hammocks and a firepit. My trailer fit nicely in front of hers on the property and it the water, septic and electric made it an easy stay. She is super close to all the waterfalls, trails, parks, charming towns and wineries/breweries/ciderys too. And Tina was really lovely to talk with and generous in welcoming me. I’d love to stay again.

Although it was a bit difficult to find, the site itself was huge! My partner & I were the only ones there during our stay but the whole area might be big enough for about 5 other tents. The campground is located right across the road from a Nature Preserve. The camp is very open, with tons of options for where to put your tent. Theres a big firepit in the center with backup wood in a sheltered shelving unit. There is a composting toilet in a zippered tent-like structure on the edge of the property. The location is about a 5 min drive away from the center of Ithaca. It's mostly far away from other buildings but it looks like theres a factory across the street, neighbored by the Nature Preserve. The building has some pretty bright lights in some of the windows, otherwise it's mostly dark. The only suggestion I have is maybe upgrading the composting toilet situation from a tent to a tiny wooden structure. We were only able to use it the first day, before the heat & the flies made it pretty unusable. All in all, I would recommend this spot for any couple or small group for camping. I would also love to return again!

The staff are so friendly. They had a live band the night we stayed lots of fun! The neighbors in the site all seemed like regulars. Super clear campsite and even ground for the tent. The bluffs were a super quick drive down the road.

What a stunning piece of magic! We got rained out for the weekend, but even so, we had the best time hiking (the waterfalls were in all their glory) and cozying up in our skoolie - reading, playing card games, and dancing. We slept like babies. Janelle (who was great) greeted us and set us up with firewood, and although we had no need to use it, we peeked in the camping toilet, and consider that a great perk. We haven’t seen that in many Hipcamp sites. Great location, quiet, beautiful, and the land has great energy. We loved it and if we’re ever in the area, this will be our spot!

Amazing! Is an understatement! The yurt is completely equipped for everything you could possibly need! I noticed sunrise from the bed, which was amazing! Big fan of the soaking tub and big fan of the heated toilet seat!! All in all incredible spot!! Totally what we needed a weekend away in peace!

Perfect get-away for humans and their four-legged friends, it's a dog's dream vacation spot. Enjoy a week or weekend, or your vacation in a place where the "noise" is the melodious sounds of nature. It is remote enough to completely break from urban life, yet close enough to Ithaca, NY to enjoy its beauty and attractions. Amenities: outhouse, hand water pump, two-seater outhouse, propane grill, some pots and pans, grill utensils, wood stoves, private, gated entrance, pond, trails. Winter camping is special - cozy wood heated cabin, hundreds of acres for snow shoeing, cross country skiing, or snowmobiling. Plan ahead, we do not plow the driveway in winter; plan to shovel an off-road parking space, and transport your gear up to the cabin (1100'). Wood is provided. Onsite: water pump, 2-seat outhouse, wood stove, campfire ring, wood, & propane grill. Exclusive access for nature hikes, streams, forest, pond, swimming, bird watching, star gazing, etc. A wheelchair that can navigate grass and some ruts can enter the cabin, but not the outhouse, and the sleeping loft is up stairs (there is room for a cot or mattress on the first floor); the porch is accessible through the cabin. When you book, you are confirming your understanding of the following: there is no electricity, running water, or std. bed/mattresses. You bring own air mattress, bedding, and gear you will need. All-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. We welcome special events, family reunions, or weddings, if your plans do not require utilities (you may bring a generator or other battery operated items, as needed). Note for winter guests: We do not plow the driveway in winter, you need to be ready to shovel an off-road parking spot, and transport gear to cabin (e.g. by sled, snowshoes) Here's a brief list of the basics to bring: Light source: Lantern propane or battery. Air mattress or cot and whatever bedding you need. Paper products (cups, plates, utensils, toilet paper, etc.) Matches/fire starter (there is wood on-site, and a propane grill for cooking that has a self-starter). Bug spray. Cooler and ice. Lawn chairs.  There are a few tables, several chairs and benches. There are 2 picnic tables (one outside and one inside). The benches can be moved outside if you'd like, just move them back inside before you leave. The propane grill should only be used outside. There is a hand axe in the cabin to shave kindling, and the wood is already split to be the length for the wood stove, as needed. Gas: 5 miles away. If you plan to grocery shop when you get to the area, the closest store is at East Hill Plaza in Ithaca, about 9 miles past where the cabin is (I can give you all that info if you like). There is lots to explore/see/do in the Ithaca area if you decide to come down off the hill one of the days. I'll have some brochures and things in the cabin, and can answer questions (aka where is the best ice cream, dinner, etc.).

Looking for some peace and quiet? Up for an adventure with rustic camping? Our property was once part of a much larger business farm. It has not been under a tractor since 2010, except for mowing. We have been hosting for HipCamp since 2019 and we are eager to meet you and hear what you think of our acres.  The gorgeous sunsets over Lake Ontario are world renowned, and our primitive camp sites are just one half mile from the lake.  The terrain is hilly, elevation ranges from 320' - 380'.  Due to the location on the hill, great views of the spectacular sunrise can also be seen (from the ground) and pretty much most of the sunsets. Excellent opportunities for bird watching, we have seen everything from goldfinches to bald eagles, with sightings of indigo buntings, sparrowhawks, snow and Canada geese, according to season. Wildflowers, berries and herbs are in abundance, when in season. Being right near the fourth largest Great Lake the campgrounds is a great spot for cloud watching, kite sailing and star viewing - there is no light pollution.  Fresh water divers?  There are dozens of sunken shipwrecks in Lake Ontario and, NOAA national marine sanctuary in eastern Lake Ontario to protect historically significant shipwrecks and maritime heritage resources. Oh, and did I mention the world class fishing? Co-owner, Valerie, is a permaculturist and welcomes conversation about anything environmental.  The flattest part of the hill was once under cultivation but since 2010 has been allowed to revert to woodlands.  I farm trees, the only animals here will be the ones that Nature sends (or if you bring a pet). Fruit and nut trees have been planted, as well as some berries, so since 2010 they are not very large.  My trees are very important. Please take care not to injure them. Seasoned firewood is plentiful from the prunings as well as from deadfall and extra can be purchased at the farm - $6. per bundle.  (Per New York State DEC regulation, untreated firewood may not be moved over 50 miles.)  There is a working rocket mass heater in the barn and it will be fired up and roaring between October and April.  Knitting and crocheting lessons are yours for the asking.  Co-owner, William, may also be persuaded to show you some guitar licks.  Children 12 and under are discounted 50% off. Children under 2 are free. At the edges of the property you can see neighbors' houses but campsites are secluded from the neighbors as well as from each other. All campsites are drive in but you may be driving across a mown field. Sterling Nature Center (Great Blue Heron rookery!) and Sterling Renaissance Festival are each 4 miles away.  Gas station and farm store (Ontario Orchards -- great home-baked pies there!) are each 3 miles away. Sterling Creek Canoe- Kayak Launch - 3.5 miles.  Fair Haven Beach State Park and Little Sodus Bay - 7.5 miles.  City of Oswego and NY State University - 6 miles. And, if you are of that persuasion, the nearest McDonald's and Subway are 7 miles and Walmart is 10 miles away. Because I could be anywhere on the property and I would like to be available when you arrive, please advise me if you know you will be arriving after 5 PM.  All revenue from camping goes back into the property to continue to improve your experience. While we are open to winter camping, the farm road is on a hill that must be navigated to reach the campsites. In snowy or icy (or extremely muddy) conditions this may prove impossible for a typical vehicle and even give some 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles some trouble. There is room at the bottom of the hill for off road parking for one vehicle. It would then require hiking up about 500 feet to reach campsites. Also, when the weather is dropping below freezing (which could be between late October -- early May), you are advised to bring your own water as water left overnight will freeze. Please take responsibility for the energy you bring to this space. Campfires are encouraged but bonfires are not allowed. If you are unsure, just ask. This is also a 'leave nothing but footprints' campsite. We do not have trash removal. Thorndon Meadows acknowledges we are on native land originally inhabited by the Cayuga (Guyohkohnyoh – The People of the Great Swamp) of the Haudenosaunee  Confederacy who were scattered by European settlers in the early 1800’s.  We honor their stewardship and those who care for the land generations after.  This land is not ours, it is our turn, and we are grateful to share it with our guests.  We are committed to learning and protecting the land as its temporary caretakers.  We invite you to appreciate the land with us, all are welcome.

The cabin is located in a remote area of Bear Swamp State Forest. It is about 5 miles from the nearest paved road but has seasonal roads that take you to the cabin. There are many close attractions like Skaneateles Lake and Carpenters Falls. The Cabin doesn’t have electricity or water but we do have a generator available.
