Sleep comfortably in a quaint cabin with easy access to Adirondack hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hunting and relaxing. Our cabin is tucked away, bordered by NYS Forever Wild land to the south and west and few neighbors to the north and east. Built by a local doctor in 1924, this cabin was his family's summer home. He was also a talented watercolor painter and his original work is displayed throughout. We are only the third owners and we have been enjoying the cabin since the 80's. In the last 30 years we have introduced some creature comforts (hot/cold water, electricity) while maintaining its original charm. In a time where it is so hard to disconnect from the world, we offer a comfy bed, fresh air, starry nights, a fire and no cell service at the cabin. Learn more about this land: Come, sit back, disconnect and relax in our unique cabin in the Adirondack Park. Our 100-year-old cabin comfortably sleeps seven. There are two small private bedrooms: one with a queen and the second with a full bed. The third room is open to the living room and features a bunk bed. Linens, blankets and towels are provided. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, a full-sized stove, refrigerator, microwave and farmhouse sink with hot and cold running water. The bathroom has a flush toilet, sink and tub with handheld shower. There is a pellet stove (pellets provided) in our kitchen/dining area and a wood stove (wood provided) in the living room. Both bedrooms have thermostat controlled electric heat. The cabin is a true escape: no internet, no telephone and hit or (mostly) miss cell service. There is electricity if you need to recharge a device and there is a great sound system to Bluetooth your tunes. Built by Dr. James Cormier in 1924, our cabin became a summer getaway for his family. He was also an artist and his original watercolors still adorn its walls. We are only the third owners in nearly 100 years and we have been building cherished memories there for decades. We have made improvements to the property while retaining its charm. There is one P/T neighbor who shares our driveway but the property provides privacy. We are adjacent to a NYS Forest Preserve and surrounded by woods. The cabin is a short drive from Lake Placid and Saranac Lake and close to hiking the Adirondacks, canoeing in the St. Regis Canoe Area, close to the Six Nations Indian Museum and an easy drive to the Visitors Interpretive Center at Paul Smith’s College. For the water and fishing enthusiast a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk brings you to the North Branch of the Saranac River, Rainbow Lake and Lake Kushaqua. Local fishing, and hunting opportunities abound. The cabin’s location also offers history buffs a chance to explore the impact of tuberculosis sanatoriums which served patients from the big cities in the early 20th century. Sites are available to explore within walking distance and a small museum in Saranac Lake is worth the trip. Lastly, there is a cool antique store within a few miles whose owner is always available for conversation about the area. After a day of ADK fun, you can kick back around the fire ring (outdoor burning wood supplied) and take in the stars. If the weather isn't cooperating, stay in with a good book, play some card/board games or just spend some uninterrupted time with people you care about. Willow Hill Farm is a family-run working horse farm. We train , teach, board horses, and run a day camp. We had a resident camp for 40 years. We have mountains in our backyard and the Au Sable River with world class fishing bordering our meadow for a half mile. We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We are installing an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with an outlet, but no well. We will be putting an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. is

Our family has owned the property since 1906, and we often stay in a house down the hill (not visible from the cottage). Keene Valley is a very special place for us, and almost everyone who comes to visit feels the same way. Learn more about this land:Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. It has a gorgeous view of Giant, Hopkins and Spread Eagle mountains. The summer cottage overlooks a cliff and is a few hundred yards from the nearest house, a classic Adirondack camp that shares its driveway but can't be seen. Even so, it is within walking distance of the village of Keene Valley, where you won't want to miss homemade donuts at the Noonmark Diner. Hikers love it because it's a 20-minute walk to The Garden, one of the largest and most popular trailheads in the Adirondacks that has very little parking.The cottage has a huge covered porch (not screened) that looks out on the mountains and functions as an outdoor dining room with a view. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable: a bedroom with a double bed; a kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker; a bathroom with a shower/bath; and a large sitting room with a stone fireplace and a futon that sleeps two. A Little HistoryThe original "A FRAME" camp was built by Randy Mearkley grandson of the depression era farm owners Leon & Lena. Randy and a few friends built the camp on a couple of fall weekends in the late 60’s for $2,000 and a keg of beer. After a few years of enjoyment in the tranquil setting by the river Randy sold the property. Eventual new owners were a retired couple from Long Island...Ed and Alva Jones. Ed and Alva visited every summer for more than two decades and made significant improvements to the property while still keeping it very rustic with gas lamps and no plumbing. Ed and Alva became great friends of ours over the many years. In 2018 Sandy Maine purchased the property and 12 acres from Alva after Ed passed away and fully updated the cabin. The property is surrounded by Sandy and husband Lou’s 68 acre parcel of woods, river frontage, fields, farm house and barn. The original farm house dwelling on the front of the property was built in the 1860’s by Otis Cudworth who left for the civil war after the house was completed. Sadly he died as a POW in Virginia and never returned to enjoy his country life on the edge of the wilderness. Your hosts:Sandy Maine began her career as an Adirondack Wilderness guide in the 1990’s and worked for private individuals as well as SUNY Potsdam Wilderness Workshop. She also developed and ran the wilderness Outdoor Recreation with Education (ORWE) program for youth in Massena in the 80’s. As a compliment to her guide services she developed a body care manufacturing business and has since become a prominent influence not only in soapmaking as a craft, but also in inspiring those who shared her passion to turn their craft into thriving entrepreneurial ventures. There is electricity and wifi on site. The house has both heating and air-conditioning. The lot is 1 acre, private and exclusive use of guests only. There is parking for a medium RV or 2 cars, the property is fenced and lockable if required. There is a storage shed onsite available for guest use if needed, for your bikes or other sport equipment. Willow Hill Farm is a family-run working horse farm. We train , teach, board horses, and run a day camp. We had a resident camp for 40 years. We have mountains in our backyard and the Au Sable River with world class fishing bordering our meadow for a half mile. We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We are installing an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with an outlet, but no well. We will be putting an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. is
