Leishman point is owned by the Town of Waddington and was created during the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Dredge spoils were transported and placed creating a tract of land
that rises 50 feet above the river and surrounding lands.
The New York Power Authority acquired the property from the Leishman's who owned and operated a farm on the surrounding lands.
In 2000, the New York Power Authority deemed the property surplus and conveyed it to the Town of Waddington.
This Hip-Camp endeavor is hopefully our first step in creating a fully functional RV Park and campsite for everyone to enjoy.

Our property was purchased and farmed by my ancestors in 1803. They cleared the meadow area of trees and rocks and established the stone wall, enclosing the area. A hemlock and pine forest at the edge of the meadow leads to our 50-acre wetland preserve which provides habitat for many bird and wildlife species. Located adjacent to our horse farm, Hipcampers are welcome to hike on our trails. We offer horse back riding and carriage driving lessons. Conveniently located between the St Lawrence Seaway and the foothill Adirondacks there are lots or opportunities for outdoor recreation. There are plenty of hikes for all abilities and duration. You don't have to be an interpretive dancer (though it's probably recommended) to understand the helpful interpretive signs that describe the six distinct habitats through which the Beaver Pond Nature Trail passes at Higley Flow State Park. Despite the otherwise heavily-wooded and hilly terrain, there is a sandy beach for swimming and plenty of leveled campsites so you won't roll your own little dam down stream. Take advantage of the many amenities this camp has to offer, even for winter visitors (ice fishing, anyone?), but be aware that they do allow hunting during certain peak seasons so be sure to check the calendar and throw the oranges in tow!

Such a great find! This campsite was really awesome and you get so much for the price. We stayed in an RV site and had plenty of tree buffer between us and the next site. The bathrooms were nearby and this direct access to miles of beautiful hiking trail right at the site. We also had a lot of fun at their beach and rec center. We are definitely interested in coming back.

Massawepie holds a special place in our scouting family. Kids attended and worked there, adults attended as leaders. The hip camp portion is on the old scout camp known as Camp Mountaineer. The Rv sites are basic with 30amp power and water. The waterfront is basic but functional. There are shower houses and a recreation building with games and hang out area.
They have only been renting “Family Camp/Camp Mountianeer” for a few years. Every year we return for a few nights to drop off or pickup a scout at a camp Pioneer down the lake. Every year the facilities and offerings are better. The only issue we have is the dump station is poorly designed and difficult to dump at because of its location at the top of a small rise in the parking lot. It is impossible to have the trailer level at the dump station. The sewer inlet is also recessed in a box that makes it so you have to continuously lift the sewer hose to get the black and gray tanks flow over the edge of the box.

This is a great campground on a beautiful lake in walking distance of rare, huge bog. There is lots of scout activity across the lake so don’t be surprised by yelling and cheering, especially in the evenings. There are also day campers who use the area. The hot showers are a nice touch.

The RV spots were far apart with lots of trees. There was a nice walking trail right behind the campsite. It was lovely and peaceful. Matt was very nice and helpful. It was a pleasure to camp at an old oy Scout site!

Lots of room in this site and there was a ton of gravel that kept the site from turning into a swamp when it rains. There was a power failure from the 30 amp electric hook-up. The camp hosts were very responsive and contacted the park ranger and he quickly fixed the problem and the power was back on.
One of the nice features of the RV sites each site has a trail that leads into the white trail. The family camp office also had a full inside shower and flush toilet.
