We have about 9 acres set back from the road. The cottage has a queen sized bed, dining table, and small kitchenette. The kitchenette has a mini fridge, dishes, toaster oven, french press for coffee and an induction stove top. There is basic cooking supplies such as pots and pans. We wired this vintage beauty to run on solar power and has an outhouse with a composting toilet, sink, and heated outdoor shower. Outside the cottage is a small garden, picnic table, fire pit, and chairs. Our land is mostly sloped fields that we are slowly turning into meadows full of native flowers and plants. There are mowed paths through the tall grass. This is perfect glamping spot, a mixture of comfort and nature. Lake Taghkanic is a great place for both summer and winter stays, with plenty of tent campsites as well as cabins and cottages, and a variety of activities to do year round. For winter folks, there's cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails, as well as ice skating and ice fishing areas, and plenty of fire pits to warm those chilly bones. For summer lovin', there are two beaches, so if someone kicks sand in your potato salad (accidentally, of course), you can just go to another beach and pretend like it never happened. The only sleeping quarters that are on the water are some of the cottages in the West End Cottage Area, so if you're planning on playing Beach Party Bingo, plan accordingly or be willing to walk a bit from your tent or cabin.

We are 107 acres of forest, a 9 acre lake, ponds, creeks, labyrinth, a Holistic Retreat Center & Organic Permaculture Farm at a 2000 foot elevation in the Heldeberg Mountains. 500 million years ago during the Devonian Period this was a sea, so we live in shale based mountains with lots of fossils! The Heldebergs are one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth, these mountains have been worn down to 2000 feet over time. Native Americans lived in the area many years ago and we are quite sure this was Native American sacred ceremony land. Hiking, canoeing, swimming and fishing (catch & release only) are available on site. There are many places to hike in the area, an Eagle Trail and in winter, 2 miles away, is a Nature Preserve that rents snowshoes and has trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing, Very rural and private, even though we are only 25 miles SW of Albany, NY the capital of NYS, here it is quiet and peaceful. We do have 3 very friendly dogs that will want to be your best friends. Also farm animals that you can meet. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you! Your host, Thom, invites you to property to explore 75 acres of meadows, woods and water. Choose one of several sites either in the woods or open areas. Weekend Trip to High Peak Meadows

We have the most fantastic time at this site. Our two dogs were happy and calm the entire stay and with the creek is just down a small path the dogs were always well worn out and tired. The creek can easily be seen from the camp. Karen is a super friendly and wonderful person that wants to ensure you have a great stay. We will be going back quite often.

Had an amazing weekend reset at the East Campsite!!!!! Paula and Bill were very quick to respond and so helpful! The site was very well put together and had everything you could possibly need a toilet, water for showering, dishes, a Coleman cooler, a shaded picnic table, a lamp, speaker by coleman, even a fan…. you name it, they had it! And they even provided free firewood! 🔥 This place is truly magical. My dogs absolutely loved it, and we had such a cozy, relaxing weekend. 🐶❤️ We’ll definitely be back!

This was my second stay at Upper Shire campsites and it was as great as my first stay. Comfortable, quiet, peaceful & beautiful. My new favorite place to stay while doing all my Berkshires activities.

Weekend Trip to Upper Shire Campsites Hudson Valley

My friends and I had a wonderful time staying in the Bell Tent! We fit 3 people easily in the tent itself. The land is absolutely beautiful and well maintained with nice paths to walk around on. It was clear Joanna had put a lot of thought into what we might need and included a charging device, lantern, fans, and a sleeping bag in the tent. The showers were the cleanest camping showers I’ve ever seen in my life. Joanna was very easy to communicate with and when the string lights weren’t working our first night, she came out immediately to fix them. She also gave us great recommendations for what to do in the area. If you go by the pond you can see the other sites on the property but it felt secluded and we never saw any of the other people staying at the other sites (and barely heard them or the road).

2 nights at The Little Witch Cottage

This is our second time staying at the cabin with our dog and we absolutely love it! Caitlin is a wonderful host and the place feels private while being close to cute towns and gorgeous hiking and nature. We also love the cute style of the cabin, so even if the weather tutns is is still a great and relaxing time. Much gratitude to Caitlin for sharing her wonderful space and making it dog friendly!

Weekend Trip to Hucklebuck Railway Campsites

Hucklebuck Railway Campground was an amazing experience! Our family had the best time and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the campground and the surrounding area. Paula and Bill organized everything in such a thoughtful way that we had way we needed as novice campers. They were responsive whenever we needed anything and gave suggestions for places to view the abundant wildlife. My children and fur babies loved being next to the water most of all. Truly this is a hidden treasure and we’re already planning our next trip back! Again thank you Paula and Bill for your hospitality and accommodating our families every need!

Weekend Trip to Haines Falls Mountain Retreat

We stayed at the RV and it was great. Comfortable, the site was nice, RV was clean, enough space for our group of 12 with an additional tent. We had a few neighbors but enough distance to keep it pretty private.. The night view of the stars was incredible and the nearby hike at Kaaterskills falls.

Weekend Trip to Locust Grove Waterfall

The site was so beautiful. The water was pristine! Quiet. It was everything we wanted. The layout with the other tents is crazy! I wish my daughters wanted to go! It was like a tent town! Thankful that they can't be rented out while we were there. Provides the privacy and stillness we prefer. The wagon accommodation is key. Electric in the tent was very helpful for my old phone and keeping the music going. Highly recommend! Maybe next year I can convince the family to come! Lol

3 nights at Wyomanock Farm

We had the most relaxing stay at Tom's beautiful farm. The campsite is very secluded and the sunset view from the deck is sublime. The bed is very comfortable and there are many conveniences provided, such as the mini fridge, gas grill, plates, cutlery, etc. Tom is a very gracious and accommodating host. We would highly recommend this site to anyone who wants a total getaway.

A beautiful, private retreat that is well-kept and inviting. We mostly go camping for Henry … Monica’s site is Henry approved. Oh, the private waterfall with the cleanest water, providing white noise capabilities at all times? 10/10. It was just us two & the pup occupying the main tent, but I can see how this would be an amazing option for a group of friends. Thank you!

2 nights at Otters and Eagles Cabin

The location was beautiful and wonderfully private while still being easy to get to. Mark was very friendly with just giving us a basic tour and then left us unbothered the rest of the time. The name of the place is accurate as we watched otters play our first night and saw eagles a few times as well as a lot of other wildlife. I have put this place at the top of my list for when I need a peaceful woodsy getaway in the future. It was perfect.
