MAPLE SYRUP/SUGARBUSH Want to learn about the maple sugaring process? We are always happy to give you a tour of our sugarhouse and the woods, and explain how we turn the tree sap into yummy Maple Syrup. (We only boil January-early April.) We do have this year's crop bottled and available for sale! Buy one for morning pancakes, to add to your morning coffee, or to take home! WILDLIFE/BERRIES/MUSHROOMS/FIDDLEHEADS Depending on the time of the year, you can find wild raspberries, blackberries, mushrooms, and fiddleheads. (Please do not pick or eat something if you don't know if it is poisonous!) And, wildlife are around. Look for tracks in the soil, signs they have been there, or if you are really quiet (usually in the early morning or at dusk) you might see deer, geese, or wild turkeys! We milk a herd of fifty holstein, jersey, guernsey, and ayrshire cows. We are right off the Long Trail, Catamount Trail, and VAST trail systems. We have mountain bike trails on the farm as well as a great swimming hole. We have miles of hiking trails that link up to the Beaver Meadow trail network in the Vermont State Forest as well as Morristown Forest trails. Our camp has two full size beds and sleeps four people. Learn more about this land: Texas Hill Brook camp site The Texas Hill Brook site is a flat, wooded campsite on Texas Hill Brook in Huntington. The campsite is roughly 10m x 30m (30' x 100'), large enough for several tents or a small camper/RV. It is accessed by a sloped 50m (about 150') gravel driveway. The narrowest part of the driveway is 2.6m (about 8.5 feet). There is a 3m x 3m (10' x 10') tent platform and a large picnic table. Firewood is provided. Near our home about 120m/400 feet away through the trees but relatively private. Within a short pedal or drive to some of the best mountain biking and hiking Vermont has to offer, 15 minutes to Richmond and Hinesburg, and just a half hour to Burlington. Electricity on site, primitive fire pit, but no other facilities, so ALL waste must be packed out. We have a bucket commode to loan if you don’t have your own.

Weekend Trip to Karley's Cabin

Karley's Cabin was such a beautiful cabin! As the instructions will say, you will need to bring your own sheets, towels, and pillow covers; however, the views totally make up for it! It had all the basic amenities (coffee pot, microwave, toaster oven, regular oven, personal space heaters, pots and pans) that you could need! There are a few card games, and books to read there. There is also a wood stove for nights where it's extra chilly! When we were there, there was some wood ready for use, but there's also a bunch of firewood stands along the roads. The hardest part was finding the driveway! It's going to take you all the way down the road- don't listen! It's the first right and it's uphill. Glad we used to truck to get up there, but I'm sure a SUV would be nice! Overall, would recommend this cabin to those who need a nice, intimate get away!

Weekend Trip to Mount Norris Scout Reservation

The camp facilities are well maintained, providing all that our group required. The handicraft lodge provides both enclosed berthing space, with electricity, and open pavilion space for outdoor activities that can benefit from a roof overhead. Ranger Eric's support was top notch and he had ready answers to any questions that we posed to him. This is a great place to camp, particularly for those that don't want to have to hike into the woods.

There's a beautiful brook just down the hill with a path you can walk along and a bench to sit. Ted and Sue were great hosts...so friendly and helpful. Its in a great location. Weekend Trip to Harold's View Farm

I stayed here with a group of friends and had such a lovely time! The site was beautiful and conveniently located near lots of great hiking. Westford was also incredibly friendly - be sure to visit Black Orchid Café. We especially enjoyed the warm outdoor shower, farm-fresh eggs, plentiful firewood, and beautiful sunset views. The cabin kept us dry through pouring rain and was reasonably priced when shared among four or more people. It did have quite a few bugs, but that felt par for the course for a rustic cabin stay. Even have solar powered lights! The site can be tricky to find in the dark, so I highly recommend arriving before sunset on your first day. The tent and RV sites looked great too. I would happily stay here again!

The property was perfect for a 3 day camping trip. We appreciated the hilltop lean-to as an isolated and private spot to enjoy nature, while the bath house down the hill provided some welcome creature comforts. Having a full size fridge saved us the hassle of bagged ice and the shower was very refreshing on a 92 degree day. Would absolutely book this spot again!

Ken's lean-to was the best! The views were incredible, and the walk to the bath house was a sweet trail (only about .5 mi). Definitely a good place to crash after long hikes. One great addition would be a guest book in the lean-to. As it would be awesome to hear about other campers' adventures. Overall we had a great stay!

Weekend Trip to Camp Way Wild

Ken's property is very nice. I camped here with my two dogs and it feels very safe and private. You do hear some car noise. One of my dogs is obsessed with porcupines and found one and got quilled within 5 minutes of arrival. We saw the porcupine several times over the course of our stay but I kept my dogs on long lines after the porcupine incident. The road to the lean-to is steep and narrow road. I went up and down following Ken but didn't feel comfortable driving it alone as there was one spot that was almost too narrow for my vehicle (a Rivian R1s). So I camped down at the main entrance near the bathhouse which has lots of level area for camping and easy access - no 4wd needed. The people mentioning 4wd are referring to the road to the lean-to which you can avoid. My dogs and I walked up to the lean-to a few times. The bathhouse is right off the road and it has hot and cold water in the sink and shower as well as a flush toilet, electric outlets and lights, a wood stove and a table and chairs. There's a barn with a picnic table inside. There aren't any tables outside. I went on a hot summer weekend and was so surprised at the lack of tourists in the area but it's a beautiful area with nice hikes and pretty little towns. Ken's a great host - quick to answer questions. We'd definitely return.

We loved our stay at this enchanted little fairy tale cabin in the woods! It was exactly as described - no running water, no wifi, yes electricity, a very comfortable bed, cozy factor off the charts, so quiet and private, and if you’re blessed with clear nights, a zillion and three stars. We hope we have the opportunity to return here again someday.
