I offer dog sitting while you soak at Ojo, healing modalities that you'll find in the Extras section, and my dear neighbor Jackie takes appointments for massages with homemade essential oils. +++ 6 miles to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. There you will find the best restaurant in the area, with locally/organically farmed produce. The land is naturally and beautifully wild- it is not a manicured campsite. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars.  With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August only. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and a repellent work great. Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away.  *No cell service in the greater area. The property is in the agricultural village of El Guique just north of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, where indigenous settlements have existed for many centuries due to rich soil, proximity to the Rio Grande and Chama rivers. While we are in a rural area, you will be 10 min north of the town of Espanola and 5 min from the Ohkay Owingeh rest stop (with a great El Parasol Norte takeaway restaurant- don't miss their tacos!). It's easy to run to Espanola's Wal-Mart, Lowes or other stores if you forgot anything or need to purchase supplies. In terms of the campsite, our 5 acre property is a narrow agricultural strip that extends from the irrigation acequia (ditch) at the top of the dirt road down into a dense bosque (forest), ending in a path to the Rio Grande. The campsite is in the bosque (forest) a little distance from our house in the privacy of the cottonwoods and elms. At this time we do not have other campsites sharing the space so you will be camping by yourself and have the bathroom to yourself. It is a short walk from the camp to the Rio Grande where you'll find stairs to the river. The river is wade-able in the late summer but in winter/spring the currents are strong and not advisable for young children or non-swimmers. You and your family are welcome to walk back to our farm to interact with goats, chickens, and our friendly dogs, use the playground, or swing on the large swing by the pond. This property is at its best Summer through mid Fall when all is green, the pond is full and river is calmer. Winter camping is still doable but may include snow, a frozen pond, and leafless trees, as well as visiting sandhill cranes. The site is spacious, has a firepit with a cover. We can supply wood if you need it (just text us). In summer we have mosquitos being so close to river so come prepared with some serious sprays or creams- citronella candles and herbal stuff won't be effective here. You will have a lot of privacy in the bosque, and it is relatively quiet from urban noise. But you will be in agricultural country, so you will hear sounds of roosters, horses, goats, peacocks as well as our neighbors doing their thing in the farm land all around you. There can be dogs barking so if any of this noise bothers you at night you will want to bring earplugs.

Fruit trees and grass, glades of oak trees and stands of cottonwood. The banks of the creek are shaded by Alder and Willow trees. There is a simple treehouse and a zipline near one young orchard. By the river is a simple, old A-frame, log cabin that has a porch for shade/cot sleeping. Composting toilets (2) on property.  Farm enjoys quiet and privacy, occupying its own stretch of the river valley from ridge to ridge. The river runs year-round and has excellent trout fishing. There are horses on the property, and frequent sightings of turkeys, riperian birds, coyotes, snakes, deer and bears.  Incredible mountain and river views.  Nearby hiking, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking. All roads to and through property are rough, 4WD roads. Property is boundary fenced. Canyon walls are very steep and impressive, having bouldering and rock climbing features. The canyon is so private you cannot see another light at night. No highway noise. Spectacular in all seasons. Exceptional culturally - day trips to Santa Fe, Taos, Chimayo, Abiquiu, and Ojo Caliente. Perfect for families or large groups. Unforgettable experience.  One month minimum stay due to local ordinance.

The location and convenience of the spot can't be beat. We ran into a bit of an issue with muddy conditions trying to get into the parking spot but it sounds like thats very irregular. The view is beautiful and had it not poured rain, the fire pit would have been lovely! For sure on my list of places to revisit. Thanks for the hospitality Ben.

Wonderful spot. Was extremely quiet, peaceful and beautiful. With this spot, you will get the view of the sunset through the trees pretty much every single day. I am a writer and business owner, and this provided a really great inspirational spot for me! Highly recommend! When I went, the owner had just poured in new loose gravel, so leveling for my 28ft trailer was a bit tough, but if you bring ample equipment, very doable!

Ben and his campsites were great!! Super hospitable, easy communication and he did everything to make sure we had a great time! Sites are level and close to hookups for easy connection. He even made a pull-through pathway for one of the sites so we could easily drop the camper and go drive around the woods! Beautiful area, lots of great backroads, and a super safe neighborhood. We even had deer browsing outside our camper right at Ben’s sites!!! Great experience, highly recommend, both for the RV hookup sites (which I used) as well as his tent sites, which looked great. Thanks Ben!!

5 nights at Balloon Fiesta RV Parking Space

Our friends & I had a great time camping in our RVs at this location during the Abq Balloon Fiesta! It’s about 2 miles from the festival park, in a safe/gated location, and centrally located to so many things. The best part was waking up and having coffee and breakfast in our PJs while watching balloons drift literally right over us on one of the mornings we didn’t actually go in to the park. One even landed at the lot right across from us and the balloon crew let us watch it deflate. Such a cool experience. We had water and electricity and plenty of space to enjoy ourselves. Host was helpful and responsive to all our needs. Camping was a unique experience for those 5 nights and a memory we’ll cherish forever.

Private, quiet, and peaceful in a very healthy and happy desert environment. It’s a little tricky to find, but well worth the effort. 4WD for sure, especially if there has been rain in the area. The site had a nice sandy spot that was clear of vegetation, so a tent was perfectly happy and level. We really did enjoy our stay! Thanks for making this available, Mario!

This was such a fun place to stay! The road in can get muddy but our big cars managed it fine. I loved how large the sites were and how family friendly it was. We brought several toddlers but never felt worried about their safety because we could always see them, the stream is fenced off in most places and it’s all flat. Host was wonderful and we can’t wait to come back.
