Our trails feature hand and machine-built features for riders of all skill levels. Under an hour of driving will get you to Mt. Moosilauke on the Appalachian Trail, renowned climbing at the Rumney Crags, and dozens of pristine NH lakes. Back on the farm, our swimming holes, hammocks, and communal fire pit offer peace and community connection after a full day of outdoor adventures. Guests are encouraged to recreate and restore amidst the natural beauty of our rural property, explore our orchards and vegetable gardens, and enjoy open-air, leisurely dining at our on-farm restaurant. Wise Pines is a holistic and sustainable Bed and Breakfast/Hiker Hostel with a unique farm stay experience. It sits on 40 acres of land with wooded trails and a pond to sit by. We have a veggie garden, fruit trees, chickens, and goats. *electric fencing is LIVE!* We utilize solar energy and have energy efficient rated buildings. Goats are natural escape artists and love to explore the property to eat trees and more grass. You may see them running around or taking an afternoon nap on the hill, outside of their fenced in area. The owners of the property, Chelsey and Jon live with with their two young kids and dogs on the premises. The dogs are unleashed and friendly (though they will come running and barking loudly to say hi)! We have a yoga studio and offer classes upon request and Reiki sessions by appointment. BREAKFAST is available at 9:00am Thursday-Sunday (October-May) and daily June-September at 8:00am. Breakfast items rotate with the seasons, and change daily. Much of our food is sourced from our own garden and hens or other local sources. You can expect, and are not limited to an offering of: frittatas, breakfast tacos, quiches, quinoa breakfast bowls, root veggie hash, fresh fruit, sausages, smoothie bowls, pancakes, baked goods and more! All food is prepared by our Chef, Alex. Each day we have one offering, but can easily accommodate dietary restrictions. "At Your Leisure" or To-Go breakfast options may be available as well! We have many games for you to use, a bluetooth movie projector, walking trails (sometimes needing a bit of maintenance), a fire pit and grill. The property is in the woods rustic woods of Vermont, amongst all of its seasons. Please note that we do our best to maintain the property as weather arises, but the walkways, some of which are a bit steep, may be snowy, icy or otherwise. Please come prepared with a vehicle and shoes that are suited for the season of your arrival (mud, snow and ice) for both our property and the town road we live on. Checking in during daylight hours is advised. Nearby, the town of Woodstock in only minutes away with cute shops and restaurants. There are many local hikes, national and state parks, the Quechee Gorge, white water rapids, The VAST (snowmobile trails), ski resorts and array of local events to attend.

Overview

Laconia is one of the many small towns that dot New Hampshire’s Lakes Region. Set largely on the shores of Lake Winnisquam, Laconia reaches all the way to Lake Winnipesaukee, providing ample opportunities for enjoying the water, whether by boating, paddling, or swimming. Besides being out on the water, you can go hiking in the mountains that surround the lakes and explore the attractions in town, which include historic sites such as the Belknap Mill and several restaurants, including classic diners.

Weirs Beach

Around a 15-minute drive north of Laconia, Weirs is the most popular beach in the Lakes Region. Along the beach’s boardwalk, you’ll find multiple attractions, including the Scenic Railroad, which makes several daily runs along parts of Lake Winnipesaukee; the Winnipesaukee Pier, with restaurants, games arcades, shops, and boat rentals; and the Weirs Beach Drive-in Theater.

Gunstock Mountain

A 15-minute drive east of Laconia, Gunstock Mountain Resort is an all-season destination that is home to one of the longest ziplines in the United States, as well as many miles of cross country and snowshoe trails.

Castle in the Clouds

In the Ossipee Mountains of Moultonborough and Tuftonboro, a 45-minute drive from Laconia, Castle in the Clouds encompasses over 5,000 conserved acres with trails, waterfalls, and excellent views of Lake Winnipesaukee and the surrounding mountains. The area is named for Lucknow, an Arts and Crafts-style mansion built in the mountains in 1914.

Sabbaday Falls

In the White Mountain National Forest, and a stop along the scenic Kancamagus Highway, the three-story Sabbaday Falls drop 45 feet in total and are reached by an easy trail. Other nearby waterfalls along the highway include Champney Falls, Lower Falls. and Rocky Gorge.

When to go

Laconia and the surrounding area is a four-season destination, with something going on any time of year. Winter offers snowsports and brings the Laconia World Championship Sled Dog Derby, while the Laconia Motorcycle Week, held over nine days in June, is one of the world’s oldest motorcycle rallies and features races, stunt shows, and live music. The area is a very popular place to view fall foliage, especially along the Kancamagus Highway and Scenic Railroad.
