sanctuary on 17 acres of land abutting Massachusetts State Forest. We
currently have a one-room, wood stove warmed, cozy sleeping loft for one or two - with two benches below on either side of room - for two sleeping bags; plus, a separate 22 foot Sioux tipi with two cots. There are two chairs in the tipi, which if removed at night, make floor room for four other sleeping bags.
'Forest Bathing' for miles!
If you're a larger group booking Salamander Hollow main camp with its Sleeping Library, Tipi & Slovenian Beehive House, you might consider renting this additional Tiny Cabin want to entertain all in glamping style, utilizing its amenities; as well, providing another bathroom/shower and guest bedroom for those who prefer being indoors while in the great outdoors.
Note that Kula Bata Tiny Cabin abuts the wheelchair accessible larger bathroom/shower which is available to those at the Salamander Hollow main camp, yet you are secluded with your own private entry points and private bathroom.
A ten minute drive takes you to the parking area to hike up Tully Mountain. There is a grill, wood fired pizza oven, two fire pits and a hygienic Incinolet electric toilet on the property for night convenience, with small camp sinks for washing & teeth brushing.
Take a short hike off the property to organic Chase Hill Farm for milk, eggs, seasonal veggies, grass fed meat and other goodies. Say hello to their cows, chickens, pigs, goats, pups and kids. Nestled across the road from Salamander Hollow is Timber Haven Farm, where you can schedule your pickup of bacon and eggs, while loading up on delicious Owl Energy Bars for your adventurous excursions. For those interested in the glamping side of camping, you will enjoy a remote rustic experience with a few creature comforts to keep you well read, clean and fed. Please bring your own bedding - pillows, sleeping bags, comforter, teddy bears.There is a wall mounted blue tooth car radio/CD player in Sleeping Library, so bring your pre-digital favorites. Classical CDs to listen to. Lots of eclectic books to peruse.Walkie talkies, a set of 4, are available upon request. Chess & poker sets, too.

Bring fire-starters/newspaper for tinder. We suggest if you are staying more than a night or two in winter, you bring supplemental wood or we can direct you to a nearby stand. Next season, our own cut and split wood will be seasoned and available on site. We ask that you carry out trash and recyclables.
An established Western facing four point sacred Medicine Wheel site being established on Askari Ridge - our name for the slope starting with the two fire pits - 'Askari' being Swahili for night guard.
Here is where we envision a great touch-point area for those leading groups to be for a base-camp by day or night, where eventually a multi-use tenting platform/performance stage will be constructed for outdoor entertainment, creating an authentic 'stadium style' seating on the hill.
You will see on your way up to Salamander Hollow main clearing - the Kula Bata Tiny Kabin on the left of the dirt road- now available to rent with its small guest room for two, infrared sauna, hot shower, kitchenette, dishwasher and laundry.

Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. If you prefer a roof over your head, check Fox Farm Cottage @ Fox Farm. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water.
Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders.
The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet.
There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest.
The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders.
I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs.
Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making.
In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe.
Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far.
All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too!
Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do.
For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail.
The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience.
Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

Our 2 acre property and house is located in the center of the small town of Leverett. We have two sites, a private camping spot located down by the stream, and a yurt at the edge of the yard. We are near a paved road with moderate traffic.
The property abuts many acres of woods and there are a number of great walking trails nearby. A half-mile walk behind the house takes you through the forest to an outlook on Leverett Pond.
The Peace Pagoda is just a few miles up the road. Other nearby destinations include Cushman Market and Cafe, the Montague Bookmill, and Mt. Toby waterfall, caves, and lookout tower.
Leverett Pond has a public boat launch nearby. We have canoes, paddles, and lifejackets available for rent--inquire for details!
The area has excellent bike riding as well. We enjoy all these activities and are happy to share further destinations, routes, and suggestions!

We loved our stay in the treehouse! The treehouse was clean and beautifully furnished and Swift was an amazing host and very responsive. We felt the privacy of being in the middle of the woods while still having the comfort of a full kitchen and the town nearby for supplies or a dinner out. Fantastic getaway spot! A private, peaceful, and perfect place to unplug for a few days. The location was beautiful with great hiking trails nearby! The host, Jon, was very welcoming and incredibly responsive to questions. There is great cell service here (Verizon), a fire pit with chairs, camp stove, king sized bed, a speaker !!, pots, pans & utensils. Many games and books to play/read. Lots of outdoor equipment! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway! I will absolutely be coming back!!

Enjoyed a peaceful stay at Wapack Trail Cabin. The cabin was clean and had everything I needed. I took a weekend getaway with my two dogs - needed to get away from the day to day AND this place was perfect. Jon was very nice and friendly, explained the amenities, the trails, weekend local activities and gave me fresh eggs from his chickens. My visit was mid-July and the temps were very comfortable, I wasn’t swarmed by bugs, most of the cabin windows have screens and the cabin has a portable fan for additional comfort. I’m just an hour away and look forward to more visits.

Fell in love with this spot Labor Day last year. A week stay was even better. Location feels private, being right on the water is ideal for me and my chocolate lab. Personally enjoyed swimming. While I didn’t fish, I saw many people doing so.
Even on hot days nights are refreshingly cool. Amenities are close by. Accommodations are simple, but I found them to be very comfortable.
Bonus, owner Judith is a joy to work with.

I went to stay on Johanna’s land with my niece and her son. Myself and my great nephew were new to camping so this was a good place to start.
The yurt was in a peaceful area and had everything we needed for the long weekend. The town of Newfane is so cute. There were 2 swimming areas on the river with easy access and a nice waterfall close by.
Brattleboro was within a 20 minute drive for a bit of shopping and snacking. Everyone enjoyed the stay!

Weekend Trip to SnugLife Camping
In my five years on HipCamp, SnugLife has risen to the top my list. I’ve stayed at both the tent site and the glamping site. The two sites sit just a few feet away from a beautiful babbling brook, you can spend a hot day lounging in the river. You can’t get more peaceful than that. I would recommend staying at the tent site in the summer and the clamping site in the winter. The glamping site isn’t quite is nice spot for river access, but it has everything you need for a great winter camping trip, including both a barbecue grill outside and a woodstove in the tent along with bunk beds and cooking equipment. TENTRR site was amazing!! Loved the seclusion of the site. The “amenities” at the site itself were fabulous!!! Although we had to clean before & after our stay it was very comfortable and again secluded!! No kids no other people just us and nature. Listening to the dam all day and night was probably the best part!!! Besides the eagles flying around and perching right above us!! What was included was phenomenal and what others left for the next was just as amazing so we made sure to pay it forward and left some of our daily use things behind as well.
The “amenities” of the Retreat itself were great at most.
The hot shower, hot tub gazebo & beach/boating area are a fairly far distance away. There were bikes for use complimentary but we were unaware if we were able to use and keep these at the site to get back and forth so we instead drove down.
The pricing for use of the boats was awesome. Unfortunately we didn’t give ourselves enough time to use them. Next time most definitely.!!! The gazebo & beach furniture was not cleaned very well. I know we are outside but the amount of dirt, pine needles, cobwebs and spiders at the gazebo one could clearly tell this was not attended to. The beach furniture was the same. We did go swimming to one of the docks that did have the “lily pad” attached to it but due to the geese droppings we didn’t use that. The pontoon dock and slide/diving board dock were just too far away to get to.
We WILL FOR SURE STAY AGAIN!!!

Weekend Trip to Winimusett Brook Farm Retreat
our second time visiting the cabin was as magical as the last. The weather was beautiful the breeze was just right and mistys hospitality was unmatched and communication was a breeze.
The only downside in the summer is the bugs which as you can expect in the summer can get brutal when the sun goes down and the breeze is no longer blowing. perfect time to visit here is spring or fall or even winter when you can cozy up to the fire and not worry so much about the bugs. we love this cabin and look forward to it being part of a new tradition for our family of 3

Tad pricey but 20/10 experience from hosts and "glamping" site- you will need muscle if you're bringing more than a pack- check for ticks! Again, hosts were lovely, available and accommodating- would recommend- thank you!

We loved our stay at Salamander Hollow. An absolute gem 💎 ✨️. The property has so much to explore, Mary is responsive throughout the stay making sure everything is in order. We went during a heatwave and even in 90° it was enjoyable to stay in the library. You can feel the love and care that shows in this place. When dusk settled in, we were surrounded by fireflies 🪰💡. Pure bliss and magic. Went with 2 young kids and we had the time of our life.
