Omg, the alpacas. Loved the fuzzy hosts so much. This is a beautiful spot, and would repeat. Word of warning: if you’re coming through in spring, be careful with the grassy field. We got stuck in the mud and were only able to get out after airing down tires. Host was helpful on resolving, and quick to support.

Beautiful piece of land to set up camp and even more beautiful alpacas! We left this site with a new respect for alpacas, they were so personable and cute! Stacey was great at accommodating us and even letting us feed the alpacas.

We had a series of unfortunate events, so we did not get to stay overnight. But! We were able to come by in the morning and we were greeting with so much hospitality. The spot is beautiful and the alpacas are sweet and adorable! We truly could feel the magic of the place with just a few hours spent there. We can’t wait to return and actually stay overnight!

We had such a lovely experience staying at the alpaca ranch. We loved spending time with the animals. They were so cute!! Stacey was very friendly and helped us get set up with a heater to stay warm in the intense wind.

This was a fantastic stay! The tent was perfect set in the middle of the ranch with alpacas wandering right up to our door. It was easy finding our way around and they were very accommodating with our odd schedule. Definitely would recommend.

Tent camping here was a great choice! My friends and I set up our tent and stayed the night and got to hang out with all the alpacas and other animals around the next morning. I would definitely recommend staying here 👍

I love the area and camp site 3 by the creek. It was very private and the camp host was friendly and great to talk too. Great base camp to go explore the surrounding areas. We will definitely be back.

Everyone thought I was crazy for tent camping in February but Stacey made it possible! The property, hospitality, and animals were great! The view was beautiful!

Great space for a quick getaway! I live in Reno and had a friend visit from California. Between us for this trip we didn’t have much trunk room but both love camping. Stacey had all of the essentials so all we had to bring was sleeping bags and food! Definitely would recommend for friends. There was a fire ring and we were allowed to have a camp fire with wood they provided! Perfect for winter camping!

Stacey was such an accommodating host. This was a unique and fun experience. The alpacas were fabulous and very friendly and curious, even with our doggos. Beautiful piece of land, perfect place to get away from the city and experience farm life. The glamping tent was great, we opted for a propane heater, which kept us nice and toasty for the night. We hope to return in the summer!

It’s the place you forget about the everyday stress and immerse yourself in nature. Of course let’s not forget the highlight of the stay, being among the alpacas. We woke up and they were grazing around the camp. They were not shy and so curious they come right up to you. Everyone on the farm was so helpful and welcoming. Our pup also had an amazing time here.

This place is amazing. It was a real pleasure staying on the farm and waking up surrounded by beautiful, well cared for, friendly animals. My dogs enjoyed the freedom too. We will be back for sure.

The cabin has a great little deck that gets tons of sun. (And at night it makes for a good stargazing platform!)

Weekend Trip to Victoria Forest

A really beautiful, secluded campsite with lots of woods surrounding you. Very spacious. The night sky was one of the best I’ve seen compared to other hipcamps. Cabin was a comfortable shelter against the cold. It was starting to get a little snowy so it was nice to be able to warm the room up with the portable heater inside. There is another cabin nearby with host’s parents, not sure if it was occupied at the time because we couldn’t tell at all. We felt it was very private. Dogs had a lot of fun roaming and exploring. Porta potty was clean. Host was responsive. Only thing I would note is not to come at night. A bit dark and difficult to find. Came from the bayarea and the directions indicated coming from ca- 20, which my Waze app wouldn’t recognize as a route. Waze tried to keep taking me to the long windy, dirt path road. Use Apple or Google Maps and follow the host’s directions, go up I-80 and then down CA-20. The road to the address might be easy to miss, as well as the driveway to the site so I definitely recommend coming when daylight is still out. Other than that, after we found the gate, it was easy to find and get to the campsite.

Stacey communicated very well before we arrived and gave us a ton of info. While we were there, she was happy to show us around, answer all of our questions and even gave us a complimentary bag of feed to give the alpacas. There were so many alpacas! They were all so curious and friendly and made the stay so special! In the morning we even got to see them migrate to a different part of the farm right past our camper. It was so obvious that every animal on the farm was not only cared for, but truly loved by Stacey. We can’t wait to go back and see Stacey and her alpacas again and can’t recommend this stay enough!

1 night at Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

Weather was rather unkind for our brief stop in November, poured with rain the entire time, but we received a warm welcome from the host, who was very helpful. Hard everything that was needed, conveniently located and well priced. Indoor and outdoor plumbing was a plus.

Just step outside the cabin to access miles of single track through the Tahoe national forest, or jump in your car to access lakes, rivers and streams within a 10 minute drive. Snowboarding and; skiing is a 25 minute drive away and snowshoeing and; cross country skiing can start right off the front deck! Come relax in your own private off grid cabin with a cozy loft and a view of Tahoe National Forest. At just over 5,000 feet in elevation and a dirt road drive Muir's Muse is the perfect place to disconnect. A three minute walk will get you to the Pioneer Trail which is a 25 mile non-motorized trail meandering through Tahoe National Forest, Bear Valley, and mountain lakes at its terminus. Open to hikers, bicyclists, equestrians and all lovers of the outdoors, the adventures are endless! Although there is cell service, there is no electricity or running water. There is an outdoor fire ring, a pit toilet on site and a portable heater and small camp stove for you to use... Just bring your own small propane canisters.
