Narrative about Selby Farm:
Selbys have lived on this farm since 1990. Doug and Brenda are retired from teaching at nearby public schools. Our Farm is now dedicated to boarding retired horses for their owners.
We practice rotational grazing for the health of the horses and the health of our pastures. The horses live in a herd as they would in the wild. Basically, they are hanging out with their friends! They also get regular care and feed and so are VERY happy. You will see and probably interact with the horses if you wish. They are guaranteed to come closer if you have treats like carrots and apples slices.
Our quiet county road used to be the main road along the river. A hundred years ago it was called "Shanty Road". The shacks that were along it housed workers that harvested food from farms in the river bottom. The only evidence of those shacks now is perrenial flowers growing in unusual places. The area is inhabited by professionals working in nearby towns and cities. In fact there are only five homes along our 1.5 mile section of Copps Chapel Road.
The native Americans who used this area did so because of the great diversity of wildlife and availability of water. Also the view is amazing in all directions. Was using this ridge top encampment for security, or just because the view is so satisfying?
The Missouri River is on the far side of the bottoms now, but has been very close historically. There is also a large spring flowing from a cave nearby. These river hills are composed of soils blown in from the end of the last ice age. Being near the river, erosion has cut down the surrounding area making the scenic topography associated with Missouri River valleys and river hills.

D'Ranch at Clearwater is a small, 40 acre hobby farm located on the north side of the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri. What started as a simple love of backyard chickens has now become a dream farm for Tracey Durant and her husband Theodore. Nestled in the valley between two forest covered hillsides, and running adjacent to Clearwater Creek on the east and the Lake on the south, D'Ranch could not have been a more perfect location for the Durant's to plant their roots and get their feet wet.
While they continue their love of backyard chickens with their small egg and hatchery operation, they have expanded their interests to an array of friendly farm animals including horses, milk cows, pigs, sheep, ducks, geese, and an occasional turkey or two. We have two private sites, a primitive campsite directly on the Lake of the Ozarks, and a RV spot with full hook-ups (water, 50 amp AC, and sewer). The two sites are separated from each other, but both have access to the lake, including kayaks, a canoe, a paddleboat, excellent fishing, a boat-ramp, floating dock and a one-mile perimeter nature/hiking trail.
*** NOTE *** From January until early May, the lake level is dropped about five (5) feet, so boating and fishing access range from difficult to impossible (though, arrowhead hunting is a fun activity you might enjoy during the low water months!).
Primative Campsite - A private 1.5 acre campsite with a firepit (and plenty of wood to burn in it) and direct access to the Lake of the Ozarks. Amenities and features of the campsite include: a private camp toilet with a door and a concrete pad, picnic table on a gravel pad with an umbrella, a fully equipped cornhole game, fishing pole holders, a garbage can and three (3) level wood tent platforms.

This land has been asking to be shared. First it was swings and little things for the grandchildren and their friends. Then the Cabin by the pond began to welcome visitors. Soon the steep slope anchored a Yurt with a wrap-around deck that puts you up in the trees. Our gathering spot by the creek became a camp site. Recently the grandkids' Bunk House found its way in. Our Retreat is 10 acres, narrow, but 1/4 mile deep, stretching down a steep wooded slope to a creek - and up the other side to the top of a bluff. A quiet country retreat nestled in the picturesque rural outskirts of Higginsville, Missouri. Our place consists of three RV sites with water and electric hookups, two camping sites and one on-site travel trailer for rent. Wifi is available at all sites, except for Site 3. Green Acres at Red Brick Farm is located just 50 miles east of Kansas City off of I-70 at Exit 49. Once you are off of I-70 your drive is less than 8 minutes away on all blacktop roads.
Site 2 is on gravel with 30 amp hookup and water, preferably best for RV’s and trailers 25’ and under. Site 1 and Site 3 are on gravel with a 20/30/50 amp hookup and water, best suited for larger RV’s and trailers. You may choose your site location, but due to the small number of sites we have we may have to alter your choice. This is so we can accommodate our guests in the best way possible, depending on the size of each rig.
If you are towing a vehicle or pulling a trailer your total length should be 55’ or under. We will not accept Triple Axels. Site 4 and site 5 are for tents, pop ups, very tiny trailers and are in flexible locations. A 20 amp standard outlet can be provided for site 4 and site 5. For your use is a shower, toilet, and bathroom sink in our farmhouse basement. Please arrive before dusk, so you don’t disturb other campers.
Site 6 Is the on-site travel trailer, ‘Ain’t She Cute’. No Pets are allowed when reserving ‘Ain’t She Cute’. The vintage style travel trailer is completely renovated and decorated with collectibles and antiques and is available for booking. It is furnished with a queen size bed, tiny kitchen, TV, wifi, and full size, not trailer size, bathroom. The trailer is for 2 guests, but an additional guest may sleep on the daybed, preferably a child or small adult.
We live onsite in our 1920’s Prairie Style home which is also Red Brick Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast with three Guest Rooms available for booking. Look us up online.
At your disposal, is the use of our outdoor furniture, a large yard to walk around in, a fire pit, a BBQ grill, and even a tire swing.
Our restaurant, Red Shanty Cafe and BBQ, is located in the town of Higginsville, about 5 miles from Red Brick Farmhouse. Red Shanty Cafe is open Weds and Thurs, 11am - 8 pm and Fri and Sat, 11am - 9pm.

Beautiful, peaceful location. The kids loved seeing and petting the horses along with the opportunity for a hike with the dogs and a bike ride. Electric hook ups and potable water were great along with fire pits and picnic tables. It was a short drive from where we live but made us feel a little more secluded. The owners are fantastic. They checked in once or twice and couldn't be friendlier. We'll definitely be back.
PS- only toilet is a clean, well-kept port-a-potty but that didn't bother us in the least. Just an FYI for those wondering.

My wife and I spent two nights at this campsite, and I couldn’t recommend this site more! It’s an amazing property with even better owners. Mike checked in with us to make sure everything was going well with our stay, answered all our questions about the surrounding area and the wildlife, and told us about the history of the property!
We felt spoiled with the wooden platforms to put our tent on! We already have a tent that is on a cot platform, but having the extra wooden area around the tent to hang out in the early morning while you’re still waking up is the absolute best.
When the description says firewood provided; they mean it. We had a stack of wood that would have lasted the two of us for WEEKS. They even provided a separate bin of kindling wood!
Thank you so much for an amazing camping experience this weekend! We have already planned to come back soon :)

The property was great the cabin was awesome super cute the entire lot was well managed lots of room to move around nice fire pit nice amenities bathroom was a little sketchy but still work nice you need to give better warning of road conditions when going back definitely need a off-road vehicle truck SUV etc. if it's rained at all definitely suggesting four-wheel drive but all in all great experience definitely will be back
