Weekend Trip to Eminence Cottages and Camp
We stayed in the glamping tent, it was our first time ever staying in something like this. We typically either tent camp or stay in a cabin. It was a great location on the scenic byway. It was close to everything we wanted to see and do for a short weekend. The site was clean and the bed was super comfy. The night got cool so we were thankful for the heated bed. Thanks for a great stay!!

The host were very friendly and helpful. We had everything we needed right there at the campsite. Catching smallmouth in the creek was anwesome and we put them all back for future fishermen. It was a short drive to Johnson Shut-ins one day and the Current river another day. We had a great stay!

Michelle and Paul's land was a simple, well thought out area that provided everything our group needed for a multi-day stay on what was the hottest weekend of the Summer so far!
I unfortunately had to leave early, but the rest of our group was able to stay and enjoy the sights in the area as well as at the campground itself. The creek was beautiful, with crystal clear waters and tons of little critters for kiddos (and kids at heart) to find. The reviews are correct that rock hounding was also a solid 10/10 here!
Michelle greeted us upon arrival, and had been kind enough to move us to a spot in the shade so that we didn't have to worry about fighting the heat even more. Her directions were spot on, and she was always available either through text, or as she rode around checking on her guests. Amenities such as the bathrooms and shower were simple, which is to be expected when you take the camping route. We were simply happy to have them available!! Lots of enjoyable wildlife, good people, stunning sights, and good memories to be made. We would be happy to stay again! (when it's not 115° index 😅)

We reserved the entire Williams camp for float trip group and it worked great! Had 4 campers setup and half dozen tents. Water and electric worked great also! Floated the eleven point river with Hufstedlars outfit. They were able to pickup/dropoff at our location, which is clutch, nobody had to drive after the float. It was really nice to have a place for our group all by ourselves, very secluded but still easily accessible. Phone service was 50/50 for some of us, but personally my phone worked well the entire time while at the campsite. You are definitely in the woods, so be ready with the bug spray and tick prevention. Overall, my group of 18 had a great experience here, we would def reserve this again when we come back to the 11pt River.

Beautiful campground,from what I could tell the RV and camp spots were not super close and right on top of one another like some camp grounds, we enjoyed our stay ,staff was friendly,I would stay again and recommend it.

MY HUSBAND AND I LOVED CAMPSITE 31! IT WAS SECLUDED, SHADED, AND HAS GREAT VIEWS. YOU ARE NOT ON TOP OF YOUR NEIGHBORS. THE BATHROOMS WERE CLEAN. WE DIDN'T GET TO SWIM BUT THE POOL WAS CLEAN AND VERY INVITING. DOG FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT. STAFF WAS EASILY REACHED AND NICE ABOUT ME CALLING TO GET FIREWOOD AND STAY AND EXTRA NIGHT. WE VISITED STATE PARKS CLOSE BY, THERE WERE PLENTY OF SWIMMING HOLES WE ENJOYED. THEY HAD A STORE YOU CAN CALL STAFF TO MAKE A PURCHASE, LIMITED MERCHANDISE. WE WERE ABLE TO RELAX AND ENJOY OUR TIME AND PLAN TO GO BACK AS SOON AS WE CAN!

1 night at Eminence Cottages and Camp
Wonderful camp with lots of space and amenities. Beyond friendly and helpful staff, who provided free coffee and advice on area activities. We stayed in the glamping tent, which was an excellent value and very cute and comfortable. All we had to bring was our clothing. Super close to town, but tucked into the woods and very secluded looking. Loved the porch and corn hole area, as well!

2 nights at Eminence Cottages and Camp
This safari-style glamping tent was awesome! I went with my three kids on a spontaneous trip in early July (we brought an extra cot), and it turned out to be the perfect little getaway. To my surprise, the tent even had A/C, which made a huge difference in the summer heat.
The tent is located right at the front of the campground—not deep in the woods—but it’s nestled against a tree line, so it still feels peaceful and close to nature. It struck a great balance between comfort and that true camping vibe.
We didn’t pick the spot for the location, but it ended up being ideal. It’s just 20 minutes from Rocky Falls, an incredible waterfall and swimming hole, and there’s a great little burger shack just four minutes down the road.
We cooked all our meals right over the fire using our Dutch oven, and it worked perfectly with the provided fire rack—super easy and satisfying.
All in all, it was the perfect two-night escape.

2 nights at Eminence Cottages and Camp
We had a wonderful stay in the glamping tent—it was the perfect mix of comfort and nature. The ambiance was peaceful and cozy, and everything was incredibly clean, from the tent itself to the bathrooms, which were some of the cleanest we’ve seen at a campground. The heated bed was a great touch, especially on the cooler nights.
The owners were very nice and super accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed. The campground was quiet, which made it easy to relax, and we loved meeting the friendly campground cat who wandered by to say hello.
We had no issues with cell phone service, which was a plus, and the location was close to downtown Eminence, so it was easy to pop into town for food or supplies. We’d definitely come back again!

My husband and I had a terrific week on Michelle and Paul’s land. We had originally reserved a few days by the creek and a few on the ranch so we could hook our trailer camper up to power. We didn’t know the layout of the place. When we got there they had us set up in a spot by the creek and ran a power cord for us to charge up without having to move to a new spot half way through the week. Our 2 mini Aussies loved the freedom of being off leash and playing in the water. Bathrooms and shower house were clean. Lots of room to roam and explore. The creek is full of drusy quartz and lace agate. Rockhounding is one of the reasons we were in Missouri, so unknowingly picking a place to camp that had such a great creek was a huge bonus. It was mid April when we were there so there were only a few other campers there for 2 days of our stay so we had the place to ourselves. The swimming hole was too inviting to not at least try. It was so cold it nearly stopped my heart,lol. I don’t know if it gets warmer but it’s not too deep and would be great for kids in the heat of summer. And if the things to do around camp aren’t enough you’re close to lots of great state parks and things to see. Blue Spring is only a short drive away and worth a visit, Cave Spring is a little farther and a wonderful 5 mile hike out and back that’s also totally worth it.
Michelle checked in with us several times during the week to see if we needed anything. Everything was exceptional! Highly recommended!!

I loved it here. It’s quiet and the hosts were phenomenal. I spent 90% of my time walking through the beautiful beaches of rocks and clear water. Everywhere you look there are druzy rocks filled with crystals. As a huge rock nerd myself I was in heaven. I will definitely be back!
I bring my own portable toilet and tent to put it in cause I never use public restrooms. I looked inside the camps restrooms and they looked clean and didn’t smell so that’s a plus! They are definitely old but who cares.
The grounds were clean and had very little traffic of cars. I basically had the entire campground to myself!

Where to go
Ozark National Scenic Riverways
Spend your days exploring the best of the Ozarks along the shores of the Jacks Fork and Current Rivers. Then, sleep under the stars, which shine even brighter in this remote region. The National Park Service operates several campgrounds across this 80,000-acre unit, with a mix of electric and non-electric sites. Some are suitable for tents only, while others can accommodate RVs. Alley Spring and Big Spring are home to the largest, most developed parks. Primitive and backcountry camping sites are also available.
Mark Twain National Forest
If you haven’t had your fill of rivers, head to the Eleven Point/Doniphan Ranger Unit of Missouri’s Mark Twain National Forest, where you’ll find the Eleven Point National Scenic River. With undeveloped shorelines, this river provides scenic serenity for paddlers and anglers. A number of primitive float camps welcome boaters—or venture off the river to find more developed RV parks and glamping rentals.
Van Buren, Missouri
Van Buren is a hub of activity and camping in southern Missouri, located 40 miles north of Doniphan. Grab an ice cream cone or home-style meal at one of the many restaurants in town to fuel up for your outdoor adventures. Big Spring, one of the largest in the U.S., is a must-see, with dazzling blue waters feeding into the Current River. Public camping can be found on National Park Service, Army Corps of Engineers, and national forest lands. Private RV parks and glamping rentals provide amenities like electric hookups and family activities.
When to go
Summer is when the action is at its highest, as Doniphan’s float trip season kicks into high gear. The waterways are at their busiest, bursting with tubes, canoes, and kayaks, and yet, there is still solitude to be found. The spring-fed rivers provide a refreshing break from the heat and humidity. Though the water isn’t as inviting in spring and fall, the weather is, with moderate temperatures and scenic opportunities for leaf-peeping in the Ozarks hills. A hush falls across the region in winter, as cold temperatures and occasional snows descend.
