Peaceful, private, close to bike trails, Jay Cooke State Park and Duluth. Both cabins have their own special ambiance. These are comfortable, rustic cabins with NO running water (drinking water supplied). “Not "ADA" *Well-behaved, house-broken, supervised dogs, and older children welcome. *It helps us to know your ETA in advance and to update us so that we can plan our day as well! Once you are in the area, message us a bit before your arrival so we can meet you and set you up properly! If we miss you, follow the arrow on the wheelbarrow down the hill. Park at Dragon Loft at 1st right, and Raven Watch at very end of drive. *We have free range chickens and friendly border collie. Sometimes there's a dog staying at the other cabin. Wildlife is also in the area, so we require that dogs be supervised and leashed, for their safety, and our wild animal neighbors. No dogs may be left unattended in our cabins while you go out! Take your canine pal with you! Quiet hours: dusk to 7am. Also consider your dog's inclination for barking. We keep the peace and quiet of all of our guests in mind. *DRAGON LOFT has one double bed in a loft with steep ladder. Great for two people. Room for dog bed or kennel below the loft. You have full use of the trails in our woods! *RAVEN WATCH is larger and comfortable for up to four people. Solar power, off grid (no WiFi). Double bed upstairs overlooking the pond, and another downstairs by the cozy wood stove. A cute little kitchen with a nice gas stove and wash area. Fire ring outside. Wood supply. Price based on two adults. Small fee for up to two more people +pets. Next to pond, creek and woods! Private porta-potty, no shower. We raised our children here, and over 45 yrs have planted trees and pollinator acres. We always enjoy meeting other travelers. While living and teaching internationally we looked for adventure, staying in a wide range of hostels in developing countries around the globe. We are now retired but still traveling and exploring off-season.

I really enjoyed this campsite, it has truly breathtaking views of the lake and you can’t beat a beach fire! It was very peaceful, even with the other cabins being occupied. We ended up arriving later than planned so it was dark, and still the maps, signs, and trails were very easy to follow. The lodge with the showers and sauna is a HUGE bonus. The cabin and outhouse were very well maintained and very clean, my entire group commented their enthusiasm on that. Overall a great spot and I can’t wait to plan another trip back!

If you are looking for privacy, this site is IT! The campsite is essentially at the very end of one of the many paths on the property. Some parts of the path are harder to navigate if you are using any of the carts provided to haul your gear. There are a few spots with large roots that make it a challenge. However, there’s a stunning overlook shortly before the campsite where we watched the sunset over Lake Superior. The sound of the waves were so peaceful to fall asleep to. It was easily accommodated to our dog as well, he had a great time on his first camping trip! We greatly enjoyed celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary here.

Balsam site is a little bit of a hike. It was worth it for us to be right by Lake Superior and the beach. Having the main lodge available to you with hot showers and flush toilets is very nice. Site was really nice. We got our 6p north face down nice and level. It felt really private and the only vehicles we heard at night was planes. Had a really good time and will go back. Only thing that would have made it better would have been a pit bathroom at the site or closer.

I love how secluded and alone we felt the whole time, having that big beach to ourselves was incredible. We had so much fun at the dome! It's incredibly cozy, the wood stove kept us very warm, and the amenities were perfect for a birthday glamping trip. The sink/stove is very easy to use, porto was clean upon arrival, and meandering through the orchards bird watching made for a lovely morning routine. I'd just point out two things to future travelers to be aware of: flies. Holy guacamole. More flies than I've ever seen or dealt with in my life. There were hundreds, no exaggeration. They mostly left us alone and the hosts had fly paper up that captured most of them but they get inside the dome constantly somehow. Just something to be aware of. The buzzing may keep you up at night without other noise. Secondly, the dome windows and roof are some sort of plastic that are not the most see through. I'm sure that's no fault of the owners but don't expect to stargaze at night. Otherwise though it was a wonderful stay and we would certainly come back again.

This site is amazing! It’s our favorite spot now and we’ve highly recommended it to several friends. It’s beautiful and clean and feels secluded yet safe. We’re grateful to have the chance to be on the lake. My boys saw a porcupine on the trail which was a highlight. The stars are amazing. The beach is perfect and private. 10 out of 10 all around.

Nice spot, very private and well kept. Easy to find and beautiful sunset views! We brought a Subaru Outback with a 15 foot pop-up camper and a tent. It was a tight squeeze to turn the pop-up around, wouldn't try with anything larger. Big Bay Town Park is about 2 miles with trash, toilet/showers and beach access. Easy to get back to town, next time I'll bring a bike for more exploring!

Great open spot for camping. There is bit of a hike down to the beach, and after the rain the red clay was very slick, but still an amazing place. There is a lot of beachfront access and the view is amazing. We spent most of our time at the beach. Dogs couldn’t get enough of it!
