We just rebooted since 2022! Call or txt us at arrival time as we are a real working farm. Dry camping. We are a sixth-generation family farm, deeply rooted in the land and home to a wide variety of wildlife. Certified in both water quality and organic practices, we are committed to sustainability through cover cropping and regenerative farming methods. Our farm grows rare tribal seeds, Row 7 seed varieties, and specialty grains sought after by some of the nation’s top award-winning chefs. We supply grains for artisan bread, bagel shops, and even the Japanese market. In addition, we offer consumer-ready pancake mixes, flours, and rolled oats. Our work has been featured on the Food Network and in national publications. Noreen, our lead farmer, was honored as the first woman to receive the University of Minnesota’s prestigious Siehl Lifetime Achievement Award. Come learn more about our land: This is a working organic farm with chickens, vegetables, and grains. You'll find wide open spaces, vibrant sunsets, a clear view of the stars at night, and a peaceful river nearby. Lots of area to walk, and fish or see the night sky. We also very close to Fargo, Nd and Moorhead, Mn about 12 miles. Lots to do there as well and we can share our favorite places.

Spring Awakening in a Lakeside Cabin Watch the Minnesota wilderness stretch its legs after a long winter! Up North this time of year, the birds return, Strawberry Lake thaws, the trees pop out their blooms—and you can take a front row seat for the show at this lakeside cabin tucked into the lush spring woods. Built in 2013 by local Minnesota craftsmen, our Strawberry Lake Cabin presents an ideal place for enjoying the outdoors. Spend the day on the big outdoor deck, watching the lake sparkle and relishing the forgotten joy of sun on your skin! Inside, an open common area—including a fully-equipped and gleaming kitchen—faces cathedral windows overlooking the deck, the woods, and the lake. These windows span the width of the house, all the way up to the lofted sleeping area, which is perched at the tree line. If a chill lingers in the air during your getaway, the radiant in-floor heating will warm your toes. A RETREAT FOR COUPLES, FRIENDS & FAMILIES; MOREOVER, A PLACE TO REUNITE WHERE EVERYONE CAN SPREAD OUT Experience the easy romance of tucking into nature together and shaking off the stresses of everyday life. From the loft bedroom, views of an unpolluted Minnesota sky full of stars will lull you into a deep sleep, and the green, flowering woods will greet you first thing in the morning. No matter who you’re traveling with, we highly recommend a canoe trip out on Strawberry Lake. We will provide the canoe for you! And the water here is calm and peaceful, with less motorboat traffic than on many of the lakes in this area. Not to mention the water clarity: spring-fed Strawberry Lake is so clear; you can see almost 17 feet straight down to the bottom! And this time of year, the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, located just three miles away, is a spectacular place for a hike or cycling. When you return from your outdoor adventure, heat up the gas grill and get your energy back with a perfectly cooked lakeside burger. Or, maybe you'd like to be pampered and treated to a local homemade catered breakfast, lunch or dinner - we can help make that happen. One more spring activity we can’t forget: May marks the beginning of the fishing season! An early-spring morning is never better than when it’s spent on the calm, clear waters of Minnesota's lakes.

AN UNEXPECTED GREEN ISLAND

6. AN UNEXPECTED GREEN ISLAND

42mi from Detroit Lakes · 1 site
Green Island is an unexpected pine forest located actually inside a small town in northcentral Minnesota. The camping area is incredibly private and surrounds a small pond. It is primitive with minimal amenities beyond an outhouse and hand pump for water. Accessibility is only for tenting or truly tiny camper vehicles. The campground is a huge semi-shaded space for up to 20 tents, still, we prefer 1 or 2 at a time. However, larger group retreats are possible. We are serious environmentalists and we offer this opportunity just for true nature lovers as singles or couples, who totally take care of themselves, leave absolutely no trace, and are solid environmental stewards. In other words, its no place for a party. Separate from the campground there are: apple orchards, outdoor sculptures, wildlife, a meditation kuti, and perfect spaces for forest therapy. Yet almost unbelieveably, you can walk to a Pizza Hut or Walmart in 5 minutes. This is an excellent staging point for outdoors people en route to Itasca State Park, The Lost Fourty, and the state and national forests of the north.

49mi from Detroit Lakes · 1 site
West Crooked Lake Resort offers relaxation and enjoyment for the entire family on 20 acres of seclude woods. You can enjoy sun bathing on the sandy beach, swimming in the clear water, playing on the Rave Water Park, or reading a book in the shade. Listen to the loons calling, watch eagles soar overhead, glide through the clear waters in a canoe or paddleboat, or just bring a book, relax, and catch some rays on the sandy beach. Many area attractions are just minutes from the resort. Biking/walking trails, golf courses, casinos, challenge course, a local winery, horseback riding, shopping and restaurants are just a few of the attractions you will find. In addition, the Headwaters of the Mississippi in Itasca State Park is just 30 minutes from the resort. ATV riders enjoy hundreds of miles of trails in the Park Rapids Lakes Area, bringing them closer to nature's beauty in remote areas others often don't see. Local clubs maintain two primary trails in our area, which are connected with miles of trails along county highways/byways.  Drive your ATV directly to the trails from our resort. West and Middle Crooked Lakes are part of the famous Mantrap chain of lakes – the very heart of Northern Minnesota’s finest fishing country. Fish to catch in West Crooked Lake include Northern, Walleye, Bass and Panfish. You can fish right off the dock at the resort or venture out to the many inlets on this quiet lake. When on the lake, you will often find yourself enjoying the tranquil beauty of West Crooked Lake with no other boats in sight.
