Enjoy our back lot for a private campsite which borders a prairie preserve. Watch the deer come in the morning and evening and listen to our friendly, happy hens cluck away, not to mention all the beautiful song birds. We are happy to share our golf clubs and balls to hit a few into the field. Our kids love it!
Tree coverage along with an open field. We cut the field to offer a walking trail to the prairie preserve. There is a tree surronded, very private tent site for tenters, but if you have a camper you can find a spot that works best for you! (The tent site is very private and a camper would not fit.)
We are a short 10 min drive to Stillwater but there is so much to do in Somerset! Take a walk around the prairie preserve and kayak down the apple river, but don’t forget the local brewery and boutique shop. There is some great fishing on local lakes in the area as well. We offer a 30 amp electric hook up and our hose for water. We also have a shower tent with a camping porta potty.

Cozy lakeside cottage that sleeps two, with level lawn space nearby that will fit two additional tents in your group. Dedicated private space is in lower level backyard with access to dock* (*May -September), lake and wildlife wetlands with boardwalk. You'll see the setting sun from the end of the dock and have access to a paver patio firepit. Private 3/4 bath and comfortable TV room is 60 steps away in the house. Mostly private spaces with some shared spaces such as driveway, hallways, sometimes we cross paths in the yard. Mystic Lake Casino, Canterbury Downs, renaissance fest, Valleyfair, & many other area lakes besides the 600 acre all sports lake that the property is located on are in the immediate area. For location purposes, we are located 3.7 miles of the Prior Lake, MN McDonald's.
The basic price of $80 per night includes up to two campers inside or outside of the cottage, but up to two additional campers and tents can be added to the reservation for $20 per person/ per night. A limit of two persons inside of the cottage and four persons total are allowed per reservation. All persons must be declared ahead of reserving the space and ID’d for insurance purposes. Please note that all persons on the reservation must submit a copy of their valid picture government ID to the host (via platform) prior to arrival (but after booking), and sign a property liability waiver upon check in. The host will discuss the procedure with you as HC supports pictures only after booking. Please ask prior to booking if you have any questions about this- this is a requirement of our short term rental insurance, and part of our self check in procedure.

The space
Designed with modern and well equipped spaces in mind, the entire second floor of the barn space is for our guests use including a full laundry room and fully equipped kitchen.
For sleeping accommodations we have the main "owners" bedroom with a queen bed, the secondary bedroom has 2 twin beds. In the living room, the sofa has a pull-out queen mattress made of quality memory foam and bedding. In addition to or if preferred, we also have a Queen size double high air mattress with built in pump and also a twin double high mattress with built in pump and all bedding.
The Loft at Strawberry Hill provides its guests fresh towels, linens, and many other necessities such as dish soap, dishwasher/laundry tabs, shampoo etc.
Other things to note
Balconies on both ends to enjoy beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Many trails for walking. Afton Alps resort and Afton State Park close by. Private fire pit and Adirondack chairs on premises for our guests outdoor use. Great restaurants in quaint downtown Hudson 8 min. away and historic Stillwater 15 min. away.
For bed setup. We can sleep 6 comfortably or more depending on if the queen beds are shared. There is one queen bed in bedroom #1. Bedroom #2 has 2 twin beds. Then we have 2 nice tall inflatable mattresses with built in pumps and all needed bedding that set up in the living room. One mattress is a queen and the other is a twin.
We also have a tiny home on the property if extra space is needed, please inquire! You can find it listed as "The Little House on Strawberry Hill.

5 nights at Cozy Lakeside Cottage Guestroom
This was exactly what I was looking for. The property (and expected experience) is accurately described.
The property, including the cottage/camping area is bordered by trees and brush on two sides and the lake (with a dense growth of cattails) on the third.
Even though cottage/camping area is technically a spacious "backyard" I did feel like I was camping. The "cottage" is pretty much the size of an Expedition tent.
I stayed for five nights. I precooked my meals and home intending to heat them over the fire but ended using the microwave instead.
For this time year (late October) this is good option. If the weather gets nasty (too cold or even snow) the "cottage" is a wonderful backup.

We stayed here for our anniversary weekend and had a great time. The dwelling is a well renovated and spacious loft in a barn at the back of a property. Although physically near other hobby farms, it felt secluded and private.
It’s a short drive, about 20 minutes, north to Stillwater and all the amazing dining options or the same distance south to Afton State Park with its hiking trails.

Weekend Trip to Rustic Log Cabin with Stunning View
The view of rolling hills, fields and forest was indeed lovely, especially with the Autumn colors. We loved the dark night sky, and could see all kinds of stars, milky way, meteors, satellites. The cabin is cozy and comfy and the beds were too! We enjoyed cooking over the fire outside, and using the propane griddle. Hosts are super warm, friendly and positive. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We loved being able to have our own getaway at a family reunion. Penny is clean, cute and comfortable with loads of little thoughtful perks. We loved not having to bring our own linens and/or dishes and appreciated the K-cups and dog treats they stocked the camper with. Delivery and pick up were both super prompt and we would highly recommend this to anyone!

Weekend Trip to Whippletree Farm & Nature Trail
This was the perfect place to stay for the night. Such a cute little cabin and had everything I needed. Went for a walk in the nature trails after dinner and was so serene and quiet. Wild definitely stay here again.

We loved our time at the farm. It was secluded, quiet, and beautiful, the cabin was just what we needed as a home base for the week, and the hanging swings were a fun touch. Electric fans helped with summer temps and it was nice to have fresh linens rather than have to pack them
Bring your big repellent for ticks as you would with other natural areas. The goats and chickens were a delight. Thanks to Peter and family for hosting.

We had a wonderful time on the farm! The cabin was perfect for what we needed. Fans helped to circulate air in summer weather, the beds were comfortable with clean sheets, and the little prep surface and mini fridge made things easy. Very family friendly. We'd recommend repellent and keeping an eye out for ticks as you would in other natural areas. The goats and chickens were a delight for kids and the composting toilet set-up worked well. Thanks to Peter and the family for welcoming us!

We loved our stay in the RV Penny, and would definitely recommend. Nicole is the best host I've ever encountered (and that's normally a thing that stands out to me); she made everything so easy and was incredibly responsive. She even had a birthday gift waiting for our daughter because I'd mentioned we were celebrating her 5th bday. Penny is adorable and clean and has everything you could need--honestly, just bring your clothes. I thought it might feel complicated rent a camper and then find a site and coordinate everything getting set up, but Nicole took care of it all and it couldn't have been easier. I highly recommend!
