The property was originally owned by a family name Nichols (thus the name of the lake). It was handed down to the sons who each owned half the property. The driveway down the middle of property that leads to the lake was originally a fence line that divided the two pieces of property. The brothers did not get along and their are several stories of their warring on how to maintain the property.My parents bought this piece of property in 1964 and created a camp called "Lakeside Farm Camp", a small all boys camp. The camp has gone through several changes since then but has always been owned by the Edwards family. In 1984 the name was changed to "Cedar Lodge" a coed camp that specializes in English horseback riding and offering high level general camp activities. Enjoy the peace and quiet of our totally private fresh water lake. Take your boat out for a day of fishing or just chill next to the fire. Sites are approximately 50 feet from each other. The property is at mile market 13 of the Kal-Haven Trail - the midpoint. The Kal-Haven Trail is a biking, cross-country skiing, walking, running, snowmobiling - you name it, the trail that goes 34 miles from Kalamazoo to South Haven. Literally steps from the property and you are on the trail.
But you may not need to leave the property, with 6.3 acres of woods and field, with trail cut through PLUS the added public lands butted up to Tincan's property line, giving almost 20 acres to roam.
Each RV site - far enough apart to be separate, close enough if you and friends/family want to camp together, has a fire pit and fireplace. Each RV site offers water, 30|50AMP electrical and septic.
The dock may have availability for keeping you boat - please inquire. There are kayaks and some bikes (mostly teen and adult size) that may be used. These are shared amenities for the cabin and campsite guests and offered on a first come, first serve basis.

We are an alcohol and smoke free campus, and don't allow foul language, parties or any disturbances to other guests.... as we value the satisfaction and peaceful experience here for all our guests. We do not allow pets for our cabin guests, and we're also a smoke and alcohol free campus. We have boats for rent (kayaks, canoes, row boats, paddle boats). This is not for everyone, but if you want to come and commune with nature and enjoy some peace and quiet, then this is the spot for you!
Our goal to provide a peaceful, quiet ambiance for all our guests and so we don’t allow loud music and we require adherence of our quiet hours from 10pm to 10 am. If you’re using a generator, please run it during the day until 10pm, so that it’s not running all through the night.

Reading Area: We have a small, private library (The Book Barn) for all campers to use during their visit. We kindly ask that all books remain on-site and are not taken home. All the books have a horse-themed focus. Near the barn, you will find benches adjacent to the primary pasture, which is used for a local children's horse reading and confidence-building program. Campers are welcome to enjoy this space as well.

Pull off the blacktop onto the grassy drive running through the field and forest. The sites are just off of the road, and minutes from lots of local culture and recreation. We do have two sites available, but we'll only take one booking at a time. So, you'll have the area to yourself and your choice of campsites. We had a great time tent camping at John’s site! There was plenty of space, a nearby port-a-potty, and a grill and table all set up so we didn’t have to bring as much with us as we normally would. There’s a nice trail behind the site and plenty of tree coverage in case of rain or too much sun. John was very accommodating making sure we had everything we needed. Molly and Kevin were nice host, checked in on us via the hipcamp app and made sure we didn't need anything. They have a beautiful landscape for camping and any other family event. It was nice and spacious plus the star view was awesome at night and they also have a nice trail that leads back to more wide open land and a pond for fishing.

Great spot. We were the only cabin, so lots of privacy and the bathroom to ourselves. We rented a canoe and purchased firewood, they were ready and waiting upon our arrival. Lake was great to canoe around. Trail loop was short and sweet, but a nice walk through the woods. Seeing the horse get let out in the afternoon was really nice.

Tent camping works well on this land. It is off the beaten path, the views are perfect, and you have the possibility to commune with in a unique way. The few sites are spread well, meaning you don’t hear your neighbors much, there is plenty of space for parking, no red tape from state parks, a small trail, and community garden. John was a delight and checked on us routinely throughout our stay. We are definitely grateful for our wonderfully stress free weekend and hope to come back.
