We bought this property in 2012 and have built several buildings and forged paths throughout the 32 acres. Our road is part of the North Country Trail, a footpath stretching over 4,600 miles from Middlebury in central Vermont to Lake Sakakawea State Park in central North Dakota. While tearing down the existing house, we constructed two bedrooms in the pole barn for a quick living space. Once settled in the pole barn, we a built a small log cabin with already felled timbers from the local woods, except for the box frame which was purchased from the local Amish. Prior to building our permanent log cabin home, this small cabin was our camp site and is now being rented to people that want to relax and enjoy the outdoors. In the middle of the woods, we created a campground to be enjoyed by hikers and on the North side of our property is a tree line between two fields that is a great small camper/tent camping spot.

Learn more about this land: Our little slice of heaven is nestled back off the country road- with over 30 acres, we have a couple of old horse pastures and barns, a beautiful grassy area that has a large fire pit and a natural pond. Some wood is provided for your initial fire; more can be purchased from us for $5 per bundle. We have basic electricity, a country swing, a dock if you would like to fish- we also have nice grassy walking paths and a wooded area as well. Our land is very peaceful and safe. The perfect space to unplug and unwind and to recharge yourself. While we do only consider our space one site, it is large enough for groups as big as 30 ppl, with plenty of room to set up tents in your desired areas. Campers and trailers are welcome, with limited size requirements and space; we also restrict where they can be parked. We are very close to several rivers in the area, so bring your kayaks, or inner tubes and float down the rivers for a peaceful afternoon. We’re not too far from Lake Michigan (easy day trip), Kalamazoo or Lansing, Several breweries in the area- (Battle Creek, Kalamazoo and Marshall) as well as a casino (Marshall). We are in a very nice happy medium to a lot of Michigan favorite spots. Come and enjoy the quiet country- and get some amazing star lit skies. The Retreat Campsites are situated on land owned by the Red Spirit Retreat Center. The beautiful wooded land is perfect for walking in. The stars are like brilliant diamonds, and in mid June the fireflies float up from the prairie into the trees by the hundreds. It is pretty quiet except for the birds and the bullfrogs and your own crackling campfire. In the spring the fruit trees can be seen blooming across the fields. Straw is grown on the neighbor's farm and cut and baled midsummer. The farm buildings are off in the distance but have gleaming white buildings and silver silos. Guests may walk wherever they like on trails or bushwhack through the forests of the Red Spirit Retreat Center. Each campsite is unique and pretty private. While you may see other campers you probably can't hear them as they are about half a city block away through the trees. Staying at the Country Dome Home is an amazing experience. Located on a hill at the top of the prairie, the view of farms and forests is spectacular. To enjoy the view, the front window is 8 feet tall and 11 feet wide. The 12 foot ceiling enlarges the room tremendously. There is an awesome feeling of spaciousness. On a warm day 8 foot wide by 3 foot high screens can be opened up to let and with the screen door to let breezes blow through. The solar fan then pulls the heat right out of the roof. Outside there is a patio sail providing shade. A lovely dinner can be cooked on a propane griddle while watching the view. Refurbished Jordan Brown Tamiami table and chairs and a chaise lounge provide comfortable seating. Deck chairs are out on the front deck as well. Sitting around the campfire is a great way to end the day. About 9 pm hundreds or thousands of fireflies slowly make their way to the tops of the huge trees and the stars start to twinkle as the sun sets. The birds, crickets, and bullfrogs gradually quiet down, lulling you to sleep in the most comfortable bed in the world. You feel at one with nature.. Stay at the dome in the fall or early spring and the wood stove will keep you toasty warm on chilly nights. Three rustic campsites with their own personalities are also on the land but hidden by trees. The Frog Pond Campsite is a in a sylvan glade next to the pond and creek, with parking immediately next to the campsite. The Edges and Deep Forest Campsites are both larger campsites that are located inside the forest near the Prairie. These sites are separated far enough apart to allow for a very private feeling. Each campsite has parking space very close by. All campsites have their own private composting toilets, fire pits, one bundle of wood, sanitary spray, toilet paper, and at least three gallons of water. At the Deer Blind more wood is available at the Deer Blind for $10 per bundle with Venmo or PayPal. There are two yoga mats, frisbees, bubbles, and a corn hole game for borrowing. One of the best places we’ve stayed yet! Our host was great! No hookups at the site area but Matthew was very helpful and allowed us to use the water spigot on the side of the house. HUGE BONUS, you get to play frisbee with his awesome, crazy smart dogs!! The sites are in a field right on the river. The little road back to the field is a bit bumpy but we made it easily in our 39ft class A towing our car. Tons of room to turn around too. Just needed to take it slow. Will definitely be staying here again. Soooo peaceful and relaxing.

Loved tent camping on Rebecca’s land. This was my second visit and it was everything I remembered and more. I did bring my dog and she loved having a large site all to herself. As a solo female camper, I felt very safe while still feeling like I had pitched my tent in the middle of nowhere. Highly recommend Wildflower Runway!

This is the view from your tent on Site #3! Please remember that chickens and wildlife wake up very early! I personally find that alarm clock very endearing ~ even on the weekend. You know what they say about the early bird! ;-)

This camping property was beyond incredible! From the moment we arrived, Robyn’s kindness and warmth made the entire experience unforgettable. When we realized our initial site was closer to the house than we expected, she didn’t hesitate to help. She immediately offered us a more private, supported site, making sure we were completely comfortable. Robyn truly went above and beyond—she brought us fresh eggs, got us worms for fishing, let us use the paddle boat, and even personally drove us to go kayaking down the river! She was so thoughtful, sweet, and accommodating every step of the way. Her genuine care and hospitality made our trip so special. This is a friendly and well-managed campground with flush toilets and a sink nearby, easy electrical hookup, and even two clean - and free - showers! The sites were about half the size of what we’re used to, so I’d consider a premium site for next time.

My sister and I had a great time at the riverfront campsite. We were able to get on the water multiple times (instant river access is awesome!) including a beautiful sunrise paddle :) We thoroughly enjoyed the farm animals and the constant natural symphony around us. We didn’t have the chance to meet Matthew, but his property was beautiful and exactly what we were hoping for. Super close to town while feeling a lot more secluded. We brought a pop up privacy tent

This is an amazing place. The sites was very large and private. It offers shade and open space for stargazing. The host was very kind and went out of her way to give my kids a great experience with the horses. I can't recommend this place enough

3 nights at North country trail, riverside camp

Had a wonderful time here. Beautiful location on the Grand River. Wildlife was abundant. Very peaceful and close to town but you wouldn't even notice that while camping. My wife and I had a wonderful time. The farm animals were awesome! We will be back for sure.

3 nights at Wildflower Runway

Staying here for 3 nights was so magical! Rebecca was the best! So helpful with wonderful recommendations for the area and encouraging us to visit with the horses while they were feeding! The camp site was awesome - large, a mix of woods and open space, and was perfect for a group! We loved every minute of the peaceful getaway and can’t wait to come back.

Really lovely & magical! Molly has put a lot of thought into providing the exact amount of camping you want while recharging in nature. Great communicator. Would stay again!
