I am creating a homestead based on simple but holistic living. The cabin was built built by myself with the help of family and friends. There are a number of trails to walk on the 35 private acreage of rolling hills. This heavily wooded land hosts much wildlife and beautiful scenery. There is a sport court which provides opportunities to play basketball, volleyball, pickleball, or badminton. The property is a work in progress with lots of plans for the future; including a food forest, natural pool, recreation building (being built summer 2022), and more.. The property offers a chance to reconnect with each other, yourself, or the natural world in a simplistic and harmonious way. I hope you come experience it!
35 private acres of forest on rolling hill terrain. Lots of wildlife nestled very close to the flat river; 30-40 minutes away from Grand Rapids. The Fred Meijer trail provides great biking or hiking opportunities. Lazy float tubing or kayaking down the flat river is very popular and only a short walk away. Horse back riding, golf courses, and an amazing local bakery all within a couple miles. And a fun sport court (basketball hoop, volleyball/badminton/pickelball net all right on site!

Located on our private river bank this is on 3 acres of land shared by 2 personal glamping sites and a rustic group campsite. Our sight offers scenic views of sunrise on the riverbend as well as the New Richmond Swing Bridge, now open to pedestrian traffic only. The small county park next door offers a riverside boardwalk full of natural flora and wildlife for morning strolls or the delight of a fisherman who likes to be 1st on the water! Kayak and Canoe Rentals are also available on sight, best to reserve in advance. Hiking trails nearby offer a great way to explore the Allegan Forest or the lakeshore sand dunes. We are 7 miles east of Saugatuck and 5 miles north of Fennville, our site makes a perfect escape from the nearby lakeshore shopping and dining district while keeping you in close proximity to local wineries and other attractions. Just follow the paved road all the way to the end of 57th street and enter through our private drive. ....where the pavement ends, adventure begins! See ya at the river!

4 nights at Billy’s Place in the Woods
Billy's place and land is the epitome of a quiet, rustic getaway. The host himself is communicative and thorough. It's clear he cares about his property, and about my time out there. Billy explains the cabin and setup perfectly. Like camping, with four walls and roof. You have all you need there.
If you want glamping, this isn't it. If you want a real, genuine outdoor experience in a serene peaceful environment, this is it. Billy's place provides just enough comfort to truly enjoy being in the quiet. The highlight of the area for me were the trails. Long trails in two directions, really nice if you want solitude and a few hours walking in the pines with the sounds of the animals. I look forward to heading back in the near future... Thanks Billy

Weekend Trip to Billy’s Place in the Woods
I had a wonderful stay at this cozy cabin in the woods. The host was incredibly kind and attentive, even checking in during my stay to make sure everything was comfortable. The cabin is very clean, spacious, and well-equipped—with a fire pit, picnic table, three beds, and an outhouse. Despite the temperature dropping to 29°F one night, I stayed warm and comfortable in the dry cabin without needing the propane heater provided.
I traveled with two small dogs and felt completely safe. Cooking on-site and having a fire was easy—the host even provided wood, flashlights, complimentary candy, a broom, and a vacuum. The solar panels provided good lighting, and communication was prompt and helpful. Everything exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful, well-prepared getaway.

An amazing place to stay if you are looking for a private rustic getaway! My boyfriend and I picked this site to take our 9mo old puppy camping for the first time and it was an incredible experience. We did a lot of hiking, cooking, and relaxing. We saw deer, possums, and turkeys! Just remember to do tick checks!

Weekend Trip to Baggins Inn
My husband and I travel all over the country and we have stayed at unique locations over the years. This was a unanimous vote for our very favorite. The setting is something straight out of the cinema. You have 360 views of nature and serenity. The cabin is an art installation. It’s phenomenal. The attention to detail is incredible. The smell of it is something I’d wear like perfume. There is no power and low reception and that’s just what we were looking for. The bathroom is a short walk from the cabin. We brought cute little camping lights that made our stay all the more magical. The sounds of the forest around you and the way the sun and moon both shine down in the woodland is magnificent. We weren’t even checked out before deciding we need to plan a trip back. 10/10.

I would highly recommend the cottage! If you are looking for a rustic type spot and your own place without dealing with other people around, this is the place!! The owner is very kind and accommodating. He had firewood for us, bottled water and brought a canopy/pavillion over because it was raining. Very friendly!!
It is set back in the woods and the cabin was very clean. It has a picnic table and cute little fire pit area as well as a open top charcoal grill. We got to see deer and hear the amazing sounds of the wildlife.

Weekend Trip to Riverside Respite at New Richmond
The cabin at Riverside was absolutely adorable! All the ambience of a true fishing cabin from long ago. Julie and Bill were fantastic hosts. The communication was spectacular and they responded to us immediately when a little hiccup occurred. The cabin is situated right on the river and there are boats and kayakers waving as they pass. There is a train directly across the street hidden by some trees, so you will hear the train noises, but that didn’t bother us any. It’s not a secluded site, but you still have privacy.
You really only need to bring your clothes because everything else has been provided for you. Fennville is a cute little town with a surprisingly well appointed grocery store and some great dining spots. It’s a short distance to Saugatuck, Holland, and a little farther to South Haven.
We had a great day and would love to come back again to do some kayaking! Thank you, Bill and Julie!

We loved the cabin and its ambiance. Everything we needed was provided. The view from the back, the ledge patio for coffee. The convenience of how close to Newaygo town it was. A great place to go and stay for those who like to hike, bike, fish, and or be outside!

Group trip
Our stay at Mike's was great, the site felt pretty private and had a nice view. Mike also left firewood out for us which was nice of him, overall the experience was amazing.

Weekend Trip to Billy’s Place in the Woods
I loved the spot. Exactly as the description states: essentially a tent with elevated beds. Kept us dry through a weekend of rain. The host was very pleasant and accommodating.

3 nights at Muskegon Pines-Lake Cabin
A clean, secluded, well-supplied and maintained cabin with fantastic views from the entire back of the cabin. I was able to cook full meals without issue thanks to the well-stocked kitchen; and the furnishings, linens, and bathroom supplies made the place feel like home. There were even dedicated 'sofa blankets' for the dog! A lot of places that allow pets don't do much to make their presence feel welcomed, but Mike took that extra step, and it was greatly appreciated! Baseboard heaters were individually controlled making it easy to keep it as cool or toasty as we needed, and the appliances and fixtures overall were in better repair than most rentals I've ever stayed in. The hot water pressure in the bathroom sink was low, but it really was not an issue.
There was plentiful firewood for the pit out back and stove inside. The outside furnishings were plentiful, but it being off season, we didn't spend a lot of time lounging outside. There are ~182 steep steps leading down to the water, and the property does drop off sharply in back. But the view!!!
Mike is a pleasant, helpful, and responsive host; and I cannot recommend him or his property enough!
A note: For us, our nav/phone directions took us right to the property. Turn onto Partridge from Locust (right or left depending on your directions, but do go down to Mallard, past Partridge (PVT), and turn right. There are mucky spots in the lane that may be a bit much for a 2WD but not impassible.
