Nestled in Manistee National Forest is a family farm. Trailheads lead to hundreds of miles of public two-track, and the woods roll between oak/maple/beech and aspen/birch. Echo Valley Forest Reserve is a backcountry site located deep within the forest near the center of Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, ten minutes from Empire Beach, Glen Haven, and Glen Arbor. The camp site is completely private, with only party rented to at a time. It is in the center of a 40-acre parcel, surrounded by thousands of acres of National Lakeshore and private forested land.
Access is off of a rough seasonal two-track but most 2-wheel drive cars are fine. Watch out for rocks. There are solar lights, a pit toilet, a fire ring, and a ~8x8' deck. There is room for 4 cars, and as many tents as you can set up.
We have 4 rules:
1) Leave no trace. Do not leave garbage at camp. DO NOT BURN garbage, people cook in that pit.
2) NO cutting into the live trees. You will get a 0-star review, 100% of the time.
3) Keep cars on the gravel driveway.
4) Put out all fires completely (COLD) and respect any Burn Bans that may be active at the time of your stay. These are issued by the fire department, not me.

We're located between the two popular vacation destinations of Glen Arbor and Leland, MI - both a short scenic drive in either direction. The peninsula has tons of recreation: hiking, biking, beaches, boating, fishing, dining, shopping, wine tasting, and visit the Sleeping Bear Dunes!
Our farm produces pastured, all natural meat, including pork, beef, goat and fresh eggs/seasonal veggies. See the hens roaming, cows and goats grazing in the fenced-in pasture. A variety of cuts of meat from our freezers are available for sale or get a tour of the farm ~ Just ask! You may simply enjoy the scene at your leisure.
SITE DETAILS: Each camp site has woodchips, gravel surrounding a bonfire ring, a clothesline and neatly stacked firewood for sale. Our sites accomodate 2 adults and their minors. We recommend that larger groups or multiple adults book more than one site next to each other (sites 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 are good for this). Quiet hours are enforced between 10pm-7am. This is our home and farm, not a campground, please think of staying here that way.
A short walk from camp, you'll find access to a water pump for delicious drinking water straight from our well, so that you may fill containers of water or utilize for rinsing.
Our land borders the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. You'll be just a few miles from access to beautiful Lake Michigan beaches. Relax in the sand, hunt for rocks, hike a trail, kayak or paddle-board and watch an epic sunset.
School Lake, known for its fishing from non-motorized boats or a quiet place to paddle. 2 Miles away, access the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail, a non-motorized 27 mile groomed trail that follows the scenic M-22 from our location all the way to Empire, MI.
2.8 miles from our camp, you'll find a Mountain Bikers paradise at Palmer Woods Forest Preserve, with various hiking trails and a 6 mile mountain bike trail.

Llama Meadows Farm is a sixteen acre organic fruit and vegetable farm. Located in Beautiful Benzie Country, in Northwestern Lower Michigan. We have two large, level RV/Tent sites. Site 1 is a partially shaded pull in site on a gravel pad, with a large level grassy area next to it. Site 2 is a sunny and grassy back in site. Both have 30 amp power, water and wifi. The sites are nice and spacious with fire ring and picnic table. In view of quiet rural road on one side, forest on the other. Quiet Wooded Frankfort Campsite - Private tent only camp site (supply your own tent) in the woods. Just a short 200 foot walk up the hill into the woods from your parking spot. Water spigot on your site, and 12v solar generator supplied to provide lighting and USB charging of your important devices.

My rural property is nestled between cherry and apple orchards.
We have two large, level RV/Tent sites. Site 1 is a partially shaded pull in site on a gravel pad, with a large level grassy area next to it. Site 2 is a sunny and grassy back in site. Both have 30 amp power, water and wifi. The sites are nice and spacious with fire ring and picnic table. In view of quiet rural road on one side, forest on the other. Surrounded by 600 acres of cherry and apple orchards.
Quiet Wooded Frankfort Campsite - Private tent only camp site (supply your own tent) in the woods. Just a short 200 foot walk up the hill into the woods from your parking spot. Water spigot on your site, and 12v solar generator supplied to provide lighting and USB charging of your important devices.
There is an outhouse (commercial porta-jon serviced after each weekend) and an outdoor heated shower in a private stall between the sites.

The grounds are clean, spacious, and thoughtfully maintained, and you can tell there’s real care put into keeping everything comfortable for guests. Whether you’re sitting by the fire, sipping your morning coffee, or just listening to the sounds of nature, the atmosphere is genuinely relaxing.

We had a fantastic stay at Site 1 – Elm Valley (hosted by Jayne). From the moment we arrived, Jayne greeted us warmly, offered firewood, and helped guide our 22-ft travel trailer into the perfect spot. The site was level, flat, with water & electric hookups—just what we needed. We were among the last campers of the season and feel grateful we were able to secure such a great location. The location was very convenient—several wineries were just a short drive away—making it easy to explore when time permitted. We were in town for the Iceman Cometh Challenge mountain bike race and enjoyed chatting with Jayne about the event and her family/friends who’ve done it. Upon departure, her husband stopped by to ensure everything was good—it wrapped up the stay perfectly. Jayne is exactly the kind of host you hope for: friendly, attentive but unobtrusive. We’ll absolutely plan to return—maybe next summer to make fuller use of those nearby wineries. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The scenery was stunning—fall colors everywhere and peaceful views in every direction. It was incredibly quiet and relaxing, perfect for a weekend getaway. The campsite were large, clean, and perfectly level, which made setup a breeze. You can really tell the hosts take pride in keeping the place beautiful and well-maintained.
We’ve done a lot of fall camping, and this was easily one of our favorites. We’ll definitely be coming back!

The camp spot on Luke's farm was lovely. While we requested the kayaks for their pond, we did not end up using them. The space was very private. We had a little trouble getting to the space as the direction listed in the booking did not land you immediately into the space, but more like adjacent. We arrived late and it was dark out so we had a tough time knowing where to turn, there was very little signage to indicate where exactly to go, and we did not have the best cell service. We made it to their farm and we were given a map.
Overall, i would stay there again and recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful time out in nature. The views of the autumn foliage were abundant. Thank you!

Holly is an amazing post she's very friendly and kind. She has a beautiful piece of property located in quaint little piece of the woods. There's plenty of room for parking of a car and a RV. She is very accommodating. Also has a beautiful fire pit for nights outside. I was struggling with my propane in my RV and Holly was kind enough to let us use her grill.

Nice quite and secluded rustic camping. Plenty of room in between each camp site(50 to 100 feet) with tree's and bushes in between. Porta potty was very clean with plenty of supplies. There is even a disc golf course on site. There is also a convenience store and Dollar General 3minutes away.

My husband and I rented a site here for our anniversary and we had a great time! The owner was very welcoming and super chill!
The showers and restrooms are very clean and smelt good.
We will bring our kids here too since there’s an open area with things for kids to do and places for parents to hang out!
We came up to ride the trails and there are plenty of spots to start that fun!
