Echo Valley Forest Reserve is a backcountry site located deep within the forest near the center of Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, ten minutes from Empire Beach, Glen Haven, and Glen Arbor. The camp site is completely private, with only party rented to at a time. It is in the center of a 40-acre parcel, surrounded by thousands of acres of National Lakeshore and private forested land. Access is off of a rough seasonal two-track but most 2-wheel drive cars are fine. Watch out for rocks. There are solar lights, a pit toilet, a fire ring, and a ~8x8' deck. There is room for 4 cars, and as many tents as you can set up. We have 4 rules: 1) Leave no trace. Do not leave garbage at camp. DO NOT BURN garbage, people cook in that pit. 2) NO cutting into the live trees. You will get a 0-star review, 100% of the time. 3) Keep cars on the gravel driveway. 4) Put out all fires completely (COLD) and respect any Burn Bans that may be active at the time of your stay. Visit some of the local beautiful farms such as Friske's, Lavendar Hill, local farmers markers, and vineyards! There is a casino located in Petoskey on Little Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan as well as Mackinaw, and are a short drive away! Take a jump off the breakwall, or visit the newest bridge at Boyne Mountain Resort, just a stone's throw away! Relax in peace, the woods, and enjoy a little slice of heaven. There is no electricity, running water, or trash services. Please pack in, pack out. Please do not leave discarded or broken beer or alcohol bottles on property. There are over 30 fruit trees on site, from Black Pearl and Bing Cherries, Apricots, Peach trees, Honeycrisp apples trees etc, 250 sunflower seeds were also planted this season. This is a very delicate area near a local watershed source, Deer Creek, wetlands on property, and also fruit tree farm in it's early stages, organic strawberries, and organic raspberries growing as well. If you can't respect the trees, plants, flowers, on property please do not book! Also with all of the fruit tree plantings, parking is limited to one to two vehicles inside property at site, other vehicles can park along the drive on M32. A variety of cuts of meat from our freezers are available for sale or get a tour of the farm ~ Just ask! You may simply enjoy the scene at your leisure. SITE DETAILS: Each camp site has woodchips, gravel surrounding a bonfire ring, a clothesline and neatly stacked firewood for sale. Our sites accomodate 2 adults and their minors. The farm is walking distance to Lake Leelanau and Schneider township park. Walking/hiking trails are available throughout the property and nearby areas. Provemont Pond which lies across M-204 is a lovely natural area with many trails. Shopping or rock hunting in historic Fishtown, aka, Leland is 6 minutes by car, a bit longer by bike. We are just minutes to several Lake Michigan beaches, Suttons Bay and Northport. Drive 25 minutes to Traverse City to the Southeast or 33 minutes Southwest to Sleeping Bear Dune climb and the quaint village of Empire. Lots to enjoy for the foodies as well. Aside from the many wineries and distilleries, you can find Nittollos italian fare and stone fired pizza. Dicks Pour House where all the locals go, and Fiddleheads which features many local farm foods in their pop-up weekend menus. In Leland you can dine at The Cove, or Leland Lodge. For quick bites try The Sandwich Shoppe and Carlsons smoked fish during the late spring/summer/early fall times. Fischers Happy Hour on hour way to Northport has the best broasted chicken around. We are retired and live here with our two standard poodles Mila and Indiana. The property is 5 acres, mostly meadow with a maple grove as well as a wooded ravine. We have planted various fruit trees, cherries, apples, peach as well as pears. We also have a small grape and berry patch which is next to our vintage trailer. There is also an old abandoned trail through the forest that makes for a nice walk. Our location is convenient to Traverse City, Alden, Belaire, Kalkaska as well as the equestrian center and the casino in Williamsburg. There are various places to eat/drink within close proximity as well as places to purchase fuel, groceries and liquor. Old Mission and Leelanau peninsulas are a convenient drive where you can visit the many vineyards, orchards and enjoy the beautiful vistas of the lake and bays, or shop some of the unique stores and galleries. There are many off road vehicle and bike trails that are not far away as well. As well as boating on beautiful Torch Lake and the chain of lakes. A day trip to Sleeping Bear dunes is well worth the drive. We would be happy to make suggestions on activities, dining, entertainment during your stay. We currently have three sites which are on seperate areas of the property. Lake View site is a Vintage 1985 Avion travel trailer which as been completely renovated with all new systems. It is located with a western view of Lake Skegemog and next to our grape and berry patch in our back yard. Maple Grove site is a new Coachmen Catalina Destination series RV. It is located on the front side of the property next to the maple tree grove. Lavender Lane is located in front of our barn with a view of our small orchard and the forest, close to the walking trail. All our sites are fully outfitted with quality linens, towels, dishes and cooking equipment. All of the units have Air Conditioned and heat.

On the backside of the cabin, you'll find a peaceful sitting area with a firepit. When nature calls, there is a well-built outhouse that is available. There is also a large outdoor shower with heated water and a dressing area. There are trails that meander through the property for those who enjoy walking, biking, snowmobiling, or four wheeling. You won't find a more peaceful, tranquil property to relax in and enjoy the wildlife. Only 1.3 miles into Manton with several bars and restaurants. Within 3 miles you are able to gain access to State property, the Manistee River, and Chase Creek. From the trails in this area you can go as far as Houghton Lake and Fife Lake. Great area for hunting, fishing, four wheeling, dirt bikes, and hiking. This is a great getaway you don't want to miss out on!

This site is accessible by a gravel driveway that leads to secluded land perfect for your camping getaway. There is tree cover, but also open areas. We have a designated area for camping that includes a fire pit, ground level metal deck, and a comfortable outhouse. There is no power or running water. Experience camping for real! (fun fact: this property has been passed down four generations of women!) We are near downtown Manton, downtown Mesick, and downtown Cadillac. Our favorite places to visit are Dayhuff lake (10 minute drive), numerous seasonal roads and trails, the Manistee River, Traverse City (45mins), Emerald Vale Golf Course (10 minutes), and Pleasant Valley Amish market for baked goods (5 min). Notes based on feedback that we've gotten from campers: -the driveway is steep, as seen in the listing photos. The recommendation for trailer size should be followed (18ft trailer max, plus 17ft car/truck). There is a corner at the top of the hill that might be tight for anything larger. I will note that there is a review where someone made it through with a 21ft trailer plus their vehicle; proceed as you will with this information.

We are located a few miles from Torch Lake and walking distance to a public access on Elk lake. Close proximity to Elk Rapids, Alden, Williamsburg, and Traverse City and all those areas have to offer. We have water fill and a dump station on site, and we are working on electrical hook ups. Our property has many open areas to park, some very level, some not. We have woods and a large hill area with lots of birds and wildlife to see. We can accommodate large rigs, small rigs, and all in between. Pets are welcome but must be leashed as we have two of our own dogs. If you have any questions or needs, do not hesitate to ask, we will always try to accommodate. We are just minutes to several Lake Michigan beaches, Suttons Bay and Northport. Drive 25 minutes to Traverse City to the Southeast or 33 minutes Southwest to Sleeping Bear Dune climb and the quaint village of Empire. Lots to enjoy for the foodies as well. Aside from the many wineries and distilleries, you can find Nittollos italian fare and stone fired pizza. We currently have three sites which are on seperate areas of the property. Lake View site is a Vintage 1985 Avion travel trailer which as been completely renovated with all new systems. It is located with a western view of Lake Skegemog and next to our grape and berry patch in our back yard. Maple Grove site is a new Coachmen Catalina Destination series RV. It is located on the front side of the property next to the maple tree grove. Lavender Lane is located in front of our barn with a view of our small orchard and the forest, close to the walking trail. We have 11 acres, currently with a really ugly old farm home on site that is a rehab in progress, but a beautiful property. We are located a few miles from Torch Lake and walking distance to a public access on Elk lake. Close proximity to Elk Rapids, Alden, Williamsburg, and Traverse City and all those areas have to offer. We have water fill and a dump station on site, and we are working on electrical hook ups. Our property has many open areas to park, some very level, some not. We have woods and a large hill area with lots of birds and wildlife to see. We can accommodate large rigs, small rigs, and all in between. Pets are welcome but must be leashed as we have two of our own dogs. If you have any questions or needs, do not hesitate to ask, we will always try to accommodate. We were previous Harvest Hosts at our prior property, we have spent time as camp hosts, and have travelled the country in our RV and like to think we have a great understanding of what makes a nice camp experience and we will do everything we can to make sure that is the case, cheers! Peaceful setting on 40 wooded acres that is located at the end of two county roads with virtually no traffic. Upon arriving at the property, you will enter through a gate and arrive to the secluded camp area with a beautiful, cozy full log cabin. *Please note the directions begin at the Shell Station (102 South Michigan Avenue, Manton, MI 49663) because the cabin doesn't have a physical address.* We're happy to meet you and guide you right to it! The cabin has propane lighting, propane refrigerator, an antique stove with burner tops, and a free-standing propane gas stove for crisp evenings. There is a small kitchen area with a sleeping loft above and a sitting/family area at the far end of the cabin. The kitchen is equipped with pots and pans, coffee pot, dishes, and misc. utensils. *Please bring your own linens, pillows, and water. On the backside of the cabin, you'll find a peaceful sitting area with a firepit. When nature calls, there is a well-built outhouse that is available. There is also a large outdoor shower with heated water and a dressing area. There are trails that meander through the property for those who enjoy walking, biking, snowmobiling, or four wheeling. You won't find a more peaceful, tranquil property to relax in and enjoy the wildlife. Only 1.3 miles into Manton with several bars and restaurants. This site is accessible by a gravel driveway that leads to secluded land perfect for your camping getaway. There is tree cover, but also open areas. We have a designated area for camping that includes a fire pit, ground level metal deck, and a comfortable outhouse. There is no power or running water. Experience camping for real! (fun fact: this property has been passed down four generations of women!) We are near downtown Manton, downtown Mesick, and downtown Cadillac. Our favorite places to visit are Dayhuff lake (10 minute drive), numerous seasonal roads and trails, the Manistee River, Traverse City (45mins), Emerald Vale Golf Course (10 minutes), and Pleasant Valley Amish market for baked goods (5 min). Notes based on feedback that we've gotten from campers: -the driveway is steep, as seen in the listing photos. The recommendation for trailer size should be followed (18ft trailer max, plus 17ft car/truck). There is a corner at the top of the hill that might be tight for anything larger. I will note that there is a review where someone made it through with a 21ft trailer plus their vehicle; proceed as you will with this information.

This cozy cabin in the woods was exactly the peaceful getaway we needed. The starry nights, crackling campfires, and quiet walks through the forest with our dog made the stay unforgettable. The cabin itself was warm, welcoming, and full of thoughtful touches, especially the welcoming basket waiting for us. The propane gas fireplace kept us perfectly comfortable on the cold nights, and the entire space felt like a true retreat. We loved having time to relax, recharge, and enjoy nature together. This stay was a much-needed mental health reset, and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic stay at Site 1 – Elm Valley (hosted by Jayne). From the moment we arrived, Jayne greeted us warmly, offered firewood, and helped guide our 22-ft travel trailer into the perfect spot. The site was level, flat, with water & electric hookups—just what we needed. We were among the last campers of the season and feel grateful we were able to secure such a great location. The location was very convenient—several wineries were just a short drive away—making it easy to explore when time permitted. We were in town for the Iceman Cometh Challenge mountain bike race and enjoyed chatting with Jayne about the event and her family/friends who’ve done it. Upon departure, her husband stopped by to ensure everything was good—it wrapped up the stay perfectly. Jayne is exactly the kind of host you hope for: friendly, attentive but unobtrusive. We’ll absolutely plan to return—maybe next summer to make fuller use of those nearby wineries. Highly recommended.

This place is awesome!!! The cabin is so cozy and it is clear that a lot of thought has been put into this stay (extra lights, lighters, charcoal for the grill, multiple chairs, condiments, lots of wood etc.). My dog and I were nice and toasty when it got down below freezing. The outhouse was spotless. The fire pit and yard were so charming at night. Lots of trails to walk. Weekend Trip to HillCrest
Hillcrest (Lake View) has a beautiful view. Chose this for a fall getaway. Great location central to Traverse City (asylum tour) and Boyne Mountain (Skybridge). Hosts are friendly and Avion RV was a cool experience, clean and well-stocked with everything you need. Hope to visit again in the summer to experience Torch Lake, which is very close to this.

Carole and Art are two of the sweetest, most accommodating hosts you'll ever hope to meet! The amount of care and effort they put into making you feel comfortable is second to none. Like I told them, they thought of everything! Even the doggos and kiddos are made to feel welcome. There were even games for children of all ages to play - outdoors and in. For me, it was a solo trip. Carole and Art's property is so quiet and relaxing and was just what the Mental Health Professional ordered! I highly recommend the Arcala Bunkhouse for individuals, couples, groups, and families alike. The property has hills all around and is adjacent to a tree farm. Everything is so beautiful! I took so many pictures of the landscape and wildlife. I shared the atypical ones in order to not repeat the pictures that were already posted. Thank you Carole and Art for being amazing hosts and making my weekend truly memorable!

Remote private tract in northern Michigan with Portage Creek to camp at, right up close. No neighbors, no other campers! 10 miles from Grayling so you can run into town for needed supplies with little time or effort. Bring your kayaks and swimsuit for a quick splash. The creek is mostly shallow with some deeper spots. There are downed trees so the kids can kayak without going too far away but they can go out of line of sight and hearing, so please be watchful. The last ½ mile road in can be very sandy in spots or sometimes flooded so you are encouraged to call or enquire prior to arrival, 4WD recommended for towing an RV. We recommend your first arrival during daylight hours so you can see the entrance of the property. The non-maintained county road, the last ½ mile in is typically not passable during winter and snow seasons except by snowshoe or snowmobile due to the snow level. Never leave children or pets unattended! Be aware of the chance encounter with an endangered massasauga rattler, it may be endangered but it is still poisonous and they have been seen on and around the property before. Ticks are on the rise, and the springtime can be very buggy, and mosquito-y with the surrounding swampy areas. There are bear, coyote, and an assortment of other creatures big and small. This is a wilderness area and so please be aware of wild animals. Never leave your small contained fire unattended at the firepit and watch for sparks, completely douse the fire before you leave as this is a fire-prone area. No fires outside the firepit for safety reasons and fire hazards. If you want firewood here in Grayling, there are a few places that sell it. There is down debris in our woods but as the summer goes by, it may be picked through. You can pull and circle through the open area with your RV, or you can tuck into the RV / camping spot. There is enough room for 5 or 6 cars but campers may crowd that a bit. If you are tent camping, you are welcome to set up elsewhere on the property. There are trails throughout the property and you may see the ‘No Trespassing’ signs all along the perimeter of the 23.7 acres. The toilet is now working again, but we ask that you not overtaxed it ;p . The small cabin is fairly stocked with pots and pans, good for campfire cooking. Picnic table and fire pit with cooking grate on site for your use. There are tons of nearby outdoor recreational opportunities and water bodies very close by, or you can spend your time on this private tract. The military board land and small arms range is just past the road to the west, you may hear small arms practice at times, the sound of freedom.

You will not find a more charming place so close to the lakes of Northwest Michigan's lower peninsula and all within driving distance to the coolest cities. In full disclosure, we are not a commercial resort campground or a state park: this is our family property. We are excited in the joy and happy moments this land brings to our family and others. If you want a place with a hundred sites and tons of people around you this is not going to be a place you want to stay. Bring your boats, canoes, kayaks, bathing suits, and fishing poles!  Less than a 3 minute walk to Echo Township Park (Six Mile Lake) with beach, playground and boat launch (yes, you can literally walk there).  25 minutes to Torch Lake Township Day Park (Torch Lake), Antrim Creek Nature Area (Lake Michigan), Norwood Township Park (Lake Michigan), Elm Pointe Recreation area (Lake Charlevoix's South Arm), or Notewares Landing Beach (Lake Bellaire).  This is by far the coolest place east of the Mississippi to hit rivers, streams, and lakes. Hiking at its best!  Glacial Hills Pathway and Natural Area Trailhead (Bellaire); Avalanche Preserve (Boyne City); Sleepy Hollow Nature Preserve (East Jordan); and Northpoint Nature Preserve (Charlevoix). Go shopping or out to eat!  15 minutes to East Jordan (breakfast at Southarm Cafe is a must / dinner at Las Maracas for tacos), Bellaire (Short's Brewery), Central Lake (visit Bachmann's Five and Dime) or Ellsworth (Front Porch Cafe Breakfast).  25 minutes to Charlevoix (don't forget to visit Castle Farms on the way).  30 minutes to Boyne City (Indo China Gardens has great Asian cuisine). 35 minutes to Elk Rapids (Pearl's New Orleans Kitchen). 45 minutes to Petoskey.  1 hour to Traverse City.  Hour and a half to Mackinaw City. Wine and beer are good! Hit up Cellar 1914; the Cellars at Royal Farms; Bier's Inwood Brewery; 1918 Cellars; Chateau Lake Charlevoix; Waterfire Vineyards Torch Lake; Torch Lake Cellars; Vista Ridge Vineyards; and Short's Brewery!  Things for kids to do! Ravenhill Discovery Center in East Jordan! Hungry Ducks Farm to pet some animals and go trout fishing. Visit Castle Farms!

Hello and Welcome to Grateful Acres!! *Update* Wifi has been installed at Grateful Acres and is included with each booking. Message me prior to arrival for current password. Also new this year is a small bathroom house with a flush toilet (in season only) located on the back side of campsite #1 for use by all guests. I have two sites available that will accommodate both travel trailers, as well as tents. Both have 30amp RV and 120v outlets, as well as lights for late arrival setup. In the welcome Hut, you will find dry firewood for purchase, as well as a refrigerator and freezer for use by our guests. Each site has its own labeled shelf to keep your perishables fresh. Also available for purchase are organic farm fresh eggs, cold soda, and bottled water, as well as bags of ice in the freezer. At Grateful Acres we aim to make your stay with us, as enjoyable as possible. The two sites sit on 3 beautiful, quiet acres in Northern Michigan. Site #1 is flat, open, and spacious, while site #2 is a bit more enclosed and private tucked into the trees. Both sites come furnished with a picnic table, a fire ring with attached grill for cooking and 2 adirondack chairs. The Star gazing at night is absolutley Amazing!! The property is centrally located between Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Alanson. Nearby are many lakes, rivers, state forests, mountain biking trails, golf courses and ski resorts.
