I stayed here for the weekend of the 4th of July, and I’m so glad I did! My camp site was secluded, I had plenty of privacy during my visit. The terrain was great for setting up my tent, there was a fire ring, charcoal grill, outhouse, and large fold up table at the site. There was also some very cute wildflower planters at the site (wish I had gotten pictures!). The host provided clean water and dry firewood at the onset of my visit, he also directed me back to my site, as well gave me some recommendations of things to do in the area. It’s a great location, close to Traverse City, Alden, and Bellaire, plenty of things to do nearby.

We had to cancel our trip last minute d/t some travel trailer issues. Sam was super understanding and communicated very well to make sure we were okay. I know the area up there and will definitely book this place again if we can ever get back to the area.

Samuel keeps improving the site every year, and that is great to see!
The addition of a post-mounted park style grill is very welcome, and the new elevated flower box adds some beauty to the setting. This has become our favorite annual camping spot for visits to the Torch Lake area.

The camping site was very nice. Samuel had wood and water available for us to use. The location was close to TC and torch lake and other area lakes. We will camp there again. Thank you for letting us use your property.

Great location between Traverse City and the Chain of Lakes. There are a couple of firepits with plenty of open area around for setting up tents or campers, and an outhouse near one them. One of the trails south of Samuel’s property goes up to the top of a large hill, and has a great view of the lakes.

Great acreage! 60 acres of an old Christmas tree farm and backing up to state forests/2 track roads ,views of the surrounding lakes from some spots, sooths the soul. We walked all over enjoying mother nature Our site, which included the only workable pit toilet was awesome even though near the power lines. The outhouse was home/hand made and quite unusual and very clever. Bring some toilet paper. Plenty of wood to skunk for. Host will tell you where. The other fire pit site which had a "potty" is not workable right now but this property is a work in progress. But quieter.
Cons: The noise from M72 traffic was not enjoyable. If the wind blows from the south, it's not too bad, but if calm or wind from north, the noise at our spot was quite noticeable. We wanted to leave that back home in the city. Also, there are no picnic tables so be prepared. The host said he might have some kind of table he could bring. Work in progress. Sites are hard to find up 2 track hilly roads with ridges but host will be happy to lead you in.
Great stuff: Lovely views and so, so close to many activities. spent most of our time kayaking / hiking/walking. The hosts were above amazing. Many questions asked and answered quickly ahead of time due to personal needs and the brother hosts were so very kind. They also left us a little basket of veggies from their garden /small bottle of their homemade maple syrup. And we got to hear coyotes howling /yipping! we loved that !!
