Bayside Base Camp
I absolutely loved my stay at Heather's campsite. Wonderful site to set up the tent with ple privacy and quiet while being a short walk from the beach and a short drive to Traverse City. Heather was a very kind and welcoming host and extremely helpful and responsive. Very highly recommend this site.

Bayside Base Camp
I loved the secluded and quiet camping area behind the shed in the backyard up against the woods. The hosts were very kind, friendly, helpful, and responsive and I thoroughly enjoyed our interactions. I also appreciate the location of the campsite that is within a short walking distance to the East Arm of Traverse City Bay and a very short drive to the center of Traverse City and all it has to offer. I highly recommend this site.

Awesome People, Awesome Location
Super friendly and accommodating! The bathroom is in their home but it was super easy to get to and certainly beats an outhouse. It did not feel like we were imposing on their space to get to. We walked to the water access and watched the sun go down!

A Spot-on Site
A great 1st Hipcamp experience. Everything was as nice as they described and their welcome was very welcoming. We appreciated the site & privacy and bathroom access. The location is just a quick walk down to beach access, which we enjoyed, and a quick drive to downtown Traverse City or Elk Rapids.

Bayside Base Camp
Unfortunately I became ill the day before arrival thought it would be prudent to cancel the trip, so as not to put other campers and the host at risk. From what we could see on the website it looked like a great place and Heather was most responsive to pre-arrival questions, I sorry things did not turn out well for us. Having lived in the area 55 years ago we were excited about this return trip.

So friendly and a great vibe. Tent camped near a cute shingle sided shed with beautiful a wooded area in the back. Would definitely come back!

Bayside Base Camp
Great jumping point to explore Torch Lake and all the beauty of Traverse City and the bay! The tent site feels secluded behind the shed facing the woods and the closest neighbors were (as the listing) stated not home :). It was nice to be able to take a dip in the lake just a short walk away. Thank you Heather!

Bayside Base Camp
Heather was a great host and was very communicative! My friend and I had a great time staying on her property while traveling through Michigan. The bathroom was both clean and homey. Her property is just a small walk to a beach with a wonderful view of the water! This was my first Hipcamp experience and after my great stay with Heather I am excited to utilize Hipcamp more.

Camping Near The Bay
Heather and Christy’s hospitality was wonderful! The Bayside Base Camp was a convenient spot to camp at. We pitched our tent in a high ground, level area in their backyard. It was dark and quiet. Are are a short drive to Torch Lake, Elk Ridge, and Traverse City.
Starting our day with a short walk down to the bay and bathing in the bay added to the experience! We highly recommend Heather and Christy as hosts!

Adorable base camp
Everything was as described and perfect for my stay! The camping spot is a nice grassy area with woods as the backdrop. There is a high table perfect for cooking from your propane stove, and natural seating for two made out of tree stumps. Heather and her wife greeted me on arrival and showed me everything I needed to know. Located in a quiet neighborhood, across the street from the bayfront properties. The public beach access is less than a 5 min walk down the road. This is a great location for exploring Traverse City and the surrounding beauty!

Bayside Base Camp
Happy with our first Hipcamp stay
Bayside Base Camp was our first Hipcamp and it worked out great. The location provided close access to Traverse City with retreat from the town bustle just a few steps from East Traverse Bay. Our host Heather was welcoming, helpful, had everything ready when we arrive, and was a pleasure to meet.
I am exciting about future Hipcamps on future treks.

Bayside Base Camp
Had a great stay at Bayside Base camp. Heather has a great backyard to pitch our tent for a night. It feels kind of private while being super convenient, having access to the bathroom was a plus. Could not have asked for a better location for our need, right between Elk Rapids and Traverse City. Also, just a few steps away from a dip in Lake Michigan! Talking to Heather was simply a delight. I could have chatted for hours with her and she offered many wonderful suggestions for food. Until next time!

We had a lovely stay at Bayside Base Camp. Heather and Christy are super nice - we are already looking forward to coming back and having fireside chats with them. Their backyard campsite was peaceful, quiet, and close to the beach. Highly recommend!

Heather & Christy were incredibly welcoming, and offered us fantastic recommendations for explorations of both the city and the wilderness. Bayside Basecamp is conveniently located for easily accessing all area attractions, and it is so nice to be able to literally walk right into the crystal clear water of the bay, less than a block away. Bayside Base Camp
Perfect camp retreat by the bay!
We loved our stay at Bayside Base Camp! Heather and her wife were friendly hosts with helpful recommendations for nearby hikes and restaurants. Heather responded promptly to our questions with great suggestions. The location was great--a 3 minute walk to the water and a short car ride to a number of beach options. We found that the street was quiet and friendly. It was close to downtown Traverse City (15 min drive) but nice to be away from touristy bustle. The pictures and description were accurate. We appreciated the kitchen prep table and compost bin! The yard was plenty spacious for our tent and bicycles. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend others stay at Bayside Base Camp as well!!

The place was as described in the listing. It is walking distance to the lake opening nearby. The neighborhood is safe and drive to convenience spots (groceries and restaurants) is like a 5-10 min drive.
Heather herself is friendly, gave me recommendations and very prompt in her responses. I enjoyed my stay

Perfect location. Amazing campsite!
Heather was an incredible host and made us feel so welcome and cared for. The space in her back yard felt very private and was a perfect location for exploring the area. Bathroom was very clean and camping area felt like a little oasis. We set up a hammock and there was even a little table area where we prepared dinner and breakfast. 4 min walk in one direction is the bay with beautiful sunset and 4 minutes in the other direction is a beautiful short hike that leads to the bay. Will definetly be back!!

Warm & Welcoming Basecamp
Heather and Christy were very warm and welcoming!! Awesome hosts!! The tables for prepping were super helpful. There was compost bin super accessible for food waste as well as trash and recycling. Small lot so not a long walk to car. We could view the moon from inside our tent through the trees above. Very pretty to wake up to. There was more street noise than anticipated and visibility from two neighbors, but did not detract from our trip much. Just be aware depending on your site expectations. We enjoyed our stay!!

Bayside Base Camp
We stayed here for two nights in the beginning of August, on the first leg of our trip up to the UP & we couldn't recommend this place more!
Heather was super welcoming & had great recommendations for hikes and breweries. We did the Pyramid Point hike while we were there. Great views and dog friendly!
The bathroom was super clean. They provided hand soap, sunscreen, band aids, etc. Very accommodating to covid times. Wear a mask in the house. Use provided wipes to sanitize all touched surfaces on your way out. They made sure to let us know when the bathroom would be occupied in the mornings the night before.
The backyard is a 1 minute walk from the public beach/boat put in area. We took several swims during our stay & got to take the kayaks out! The backyard was nicely secluded with no neighboring dogs (ours tagged along and was able to stay on the quieter side thanks to this detail). The house is in a quiet neighborhood. It seems most of the houses around are used as vacation homes, including one of the immediate neighbors. We caught it on a weekend when they weren't there and it felt very private!
It felt like next level camping & you cant beat a 1 min walk to a neighborhood beach for chats with locals & an afternoon dip in the water.
