Our 75 acres is a wonderful, diverse mix of habitat, harmoniously integrated with our small farm. This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you! Your host, Thom, invites you to property to explore 75 acres of meadows, woods and water. Choose one of several sites either in the woods or open areas. You are also free to use our outdoor solar shower or take a dip in the cold pond or artesian spring fed pool. Our location is convenient to the Berkshire Mountains, state parks, hiking and other attractions, including Ramble Wild tree to tree adventures and Jiminy Peak. There are a few miles of rail trail access just down the road.

Lake Taghkanic is a great place for both summer and winter stays, with plenty of tent campsites as well as cabins and cottages, and a variety of activities to do year round. For winter folks, there's cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails, as well as ice skating and ice fishing areas, and plenty of fire pits to warm those chilly bones. For summer lovin', there are two beaches, so if someone kicks sand in your potato salad (accidentally, of course), you can just go to another beach and pretend like it never happened. The only sleeping quarters that are on the water are some of the cottages in the West End Cottage Area, so if you're planning on playing Beach Party Bingo, plan accordingly or be willing to walk a bit from your tent or cabin.

Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a bit of heaven. There are separate sites to choose. Around the farm, you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be in a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, others are on the edges of different farm fields, one a cabin nearer the farmstead. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is a cultural mecca, there are also numerous opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. It’s nice and secluded. Was perfect for our two dogs. The cabin was clean and they supplied us with a lantern which came in handy in the cabin. The outhouse was clean too. The hosts answered our questions and was there if we needed anything. We were there for 5 days and the no showers were a little inconvenient, but we found public showers that were a half hour drive and stopped there after going out on hikes. Overall it was a perfect “off grid” vacation.

Had a lovely stay at Renel’s little cabin by the river. Would NOT have guessed it’s so close to a main road based on other reviews. That is not mentioned! The flow of the river right beside you drowns out most of the sound but big trucks and motorcycles are easily heard. Also, the cabin is in plain view from the bridge on Harbour Rd but there is not much traffic and we never felt intruded upon. So do not expect to be in the middle of nowhere, but we felt like there was plenty of privacy and peace. Cabin itself is great and Renel and family are delightful. Amazing first visit to Vermont!

Beautiful property with nice views. Cabin was comfortable and clean, as was the outhouse. Rainwater for washing was an added bonus. Julie the host could not have been nicer and accommodating. She knew it was going to be colder the night we stayed and left an extra blanket, which made all the difference. Also gave us lots of recommendations for eating spots. There is a great deal of wildlife, we heard owls and coyotes at night, but nothing bothered us. Would stay again.

We loved our stay in Cabin D! I was looking for a camping experience but wanted some privacy and peace and quiet that a camp ground can’t offer. This was the perfect experience!! Total peace and quiet with an awesome view. We stayed in the Sunshine cabin and it exceeding what I expected for a rustic cabin. Stephanie added so many functional and Grateful Dead related items! As a long time head and aspiring homesteader Grateful Acres was the perfect fit for me. The site were spacious and have grills, firepits and hammock stands (hammock provided). My goal was to watch the Persieds and see the milky way away from the light pollution and this place was perfect for it! The property practices wildlife preservation which is the cherry on top for me! I'll be back for sure!

Runamuk Farm DID NOT disappoint! The views were wonderful, and Bonnie was an excellent host. The beds are real (as opposed to some older comments that they’re blow up mattresses) and quite comfortable. We felt like we were in a dream waking up under the perfectly placed bug net and sunrise. Every accommodation for camping is provided. Be mindful that you are renting in farm country so you might hear typical farm noises like cows, roosters, tractors, etc. If you’re a light sleeper, bring some earplugs (I don’t leave home without them) and you’ll sleep soundly! Don’t hesitate to book…just do it! Go! Right now!

The location was beautiful and wonderfully private while still being easy to get to. Mark was very friendly with just giving us a basic tour and then left us unbothered the rest of the time. The name of the place is accurate as we watched otters play our first night and saw eagles a few times as well as a lot of other wildlife. I have put this place at the top of my list for when I need a peaceful woodsy getaway in the future. It was perfect.

Weekend Trip to Otters and Eagles Cabin

My best friend and I had a lovely time at Mark’s cabin. The property is so peaceful and well-equipped to make for an stress-free stay. We enjoyed sitting by the pond with our books and making a fire with s’mores at night. There are plenty of things to do nearby; we enjoyed visiting a local coffee shop and bookstore and hiking. Thank you Mark for such a relaxing weekend and for being such a thoughtful host!
