Trish was very friendly and welcoming. She responded quickly to texts and welcomed us when we arrived. The goats were a hoot! The geese were not as happy to see us but they learned to tolerate us after a while. Great place to enjoy animals.

Weekend Trip to Fernwood on Alan F.’s Land

Fantastic stay for first time campers looking for a little exposure to the outdoors. Great accommodations with a clean porta potty and plenty of wood for the fire. It’s easy go for a hike into the woods nearby and listen to forest around you!

I had my birthday here with a couple friends and had a blast! Campfire was amazing and the wood provided was really amazing. Recommend some bug spray definitely bring that the mosquitos can get pesky around the water. 10/10 Would come back again and probably will!

2 nights at Souhegan Shores

Bob and Tini were great hosts and went out of their way to make the experience excellent. Because of the wet weather, the mosquitoes were fierce, but Bob provided enough wood, without charge, to help keep the fires going. The site is clean, quiet, and feels remote, though it's not too far from town. Definitely recommended.

Weekend Trip to Cozy Wooded Nook

We truly enjoyed the Teardrop Camper for our one night stay! It was quite the adventure. We loved cooking over the open fire, the hammocks, and due to no other campers around, the privacy was great. We might have left with a few bug bites, but that’s what you should expect when camping in the woods. (Make sure to bring your bug spray!) Our stay was definitely one for the books!!

This was a secluded nice place to camp out for a couple of days. Kathy could not have been any nicer or helpful making our trip extremely pleasant. You will not go wrong by camping at cozy kove.

Private, quiet, wooded camp site. Close to local attractions. Host is very friendly and responsive to questions and concerns. I would definitely recommend visiting this location.

Weekend Trip to Souhegan Shores

We love staying at Bobs campsites along the Souhegan River. Group of 4 adults, an 11month old baby, and one pup enjoyed a late May weekend at campsite #1. Although it rained for a good portion, the huge tarp over the picnic table was incredibly helpful! We set up an ez-up but didn't end up using it as intended over the picnic table, but put it just off to the side acting as a baby corral while we cooked meals at the site. We also fit an SUV, truck camper, and tent on the site. Loved the sound of the rushing river, made even higher by all the rain. So peaceful it felt like we were alone in the woods, even with the horse pasture on the other side of the fence. Ticks were bad this time around but we checked ourselves often. As always, we love the grate over the firepit for cooking, as well as the option to purchase firewood on site!

Nice quiet and private site. Level, gravel site, water and power available, safe location. The host was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again.

1 night at Glamping with the Wild Horses

We were traveling in New England and decided to try this cool glamping site instead of booking an ordinary hotel. It was a great choice. We stayed in a geodesic dome complete with two real beds, woodstove, dresser, small table with chairs, and a nice leather sofa overlooking the woods. The pictures of the interior are accurate, and there was also a power bank for charging our phones. The dome is one of three clustered close together with a shared fire pit, on the grounds of an equestrian facility for rescued mustangs that was really cool. We got to watch the horses eat and play, as their feeding station was only about 20 yards from the domes. The woods surrounding the campsite are beautiful and largely untouched. There are several trails worth exploring, one of which leads to a giant dome used for large groups and yoga. Keep in mind that this is a rural area and cell phone reception is not good near the domes (Verizon), and at the time there was no wireless near the campsite, so plan accordingly. Both calls and texts were spotty and often took several minutes to go through. Facetime did not work. Internet browsing was not possible. The other cell phone providers may work fine...we had Verizon and it did not. Other than that, it was a fun stay, for a good cause, and I would recommend.

Weekend Trip to Hammock Hallows

It was an amazing place. Clean site with two places to set up tents. The wood fire hot tubs were amazing, really happy we were able to tend to them ourselves, rubber mats made it perfect. The hammock was the best hammock ever. Almost fell asleep in it one night because we put a blanket under and on top. One side was complete forest, felt like u were totally in the woods. The other side you could see the house. Was left alone unless we texted Andrea, who offered to help with anything, so that was great. They had barriers between so it wasn’t completely visible. The hot tubs were could also use more privacy. Felt a little awkward seeing people well trying to have a romantic soak, and I’d do it again. Overall a great place and I would recommend completely recommend to others.

We loved Bob and Tini’s land! There were well marked signs so you wont be able to miss it. Very spacious campsite with chairs and picnic table. It has been raining for the past few days so the river was rushing and was nice to hear at night. Everything exceeded our expectations. Definitely one of the best hip camps I’ve been to so far!

Weekend Trip to Woodland's Edge Glamping & Hot Tubs

The Mossy Glen Bell Tent is one of three beautiful campsites here. The area is gorgeous and magical, with fairy-lighted paths leading to the campsites. This was "glamping" in the sense that we did not have to set up our own tent and Andrea set up a double-size cot, an air mattress, and a big bean bag with blankets, pillows, and sleeping bags. I am glad we also brought our own sleeping bags and pillows to add to the bedding options and make it even more comfy. The bell tent itself is like a big army-style tent with a zippered door. We were a group of 3 and had plenty of space. The first night it rained a lot, but we stayed cozy and dry in the tent. The floor is not very even (it's set up on pallets to keep the floor dry and elevated) so be careful walking around. The campsite also featured a covered kitchen structure with counter space and a place to lock up food and trash. Andrea provided a cast iron pan, 3 tin cups, a cutting board, and a glass growler full of water, which she refilled once for us. Bring your own water too. Attached to the kitchen structure is a composting toilet (for poop only, you should pee in the woods). There's also a table, 2 plastic chairs, a bench, and a fire pit. Andrea provided one bin of firewood for free, and we bought a second bin for $8. This kept our fire going all day! There is a huge expanse of beautiful, magical forest right behind this site that we explored for hours. This place is amazing; highly recommend! Andrea is a great host!

The best forecast we've found for Merrimack is https://www.wmur.com/weather. Want to see what the river is doing? Check out https://water.noaa.gov/gauges/SOHN3. 500 CFS is a sporty run with canoe or kayak. SPECIAL NOTE: June 16th Update River has dropped to 300 CFS which means it's still a bit pushy but is at a nice level for boating. Roads are passable. We just had campsites and surrounding trails sprayed for mosquitos so we hope for a sharp improvement on those pests. Still bring your repellent and stop at WalMart or shop Amazon for a Thermocell. Keeping the campfire burning helps as well. More description... Site-1 is located under the trees adjacent to our 3 acre meadow and Christmas Tree farm. Camp near the bank of the Souhegan River in the shade while listening to the river tumble over the ledges upstream. In season, enjoy the chest deep swimming hole 100 feet from your campsite. Two horses graze on the other side of the privacy fence. If you don't like friendly dogs try site 2 where we have a better chance of keeping our dog Wilson from dropping in to visit. He loves people too much not to want to greet folks on Site 1. Site-2 is at the farthest most downstream end of the property and from mid-May to mid-October it is totally screened by foliage. From your site you only see trees and the river. If you don't like other dogs, this is the site you want. Still no guarantee Wilson won't visit, but it's easier to keep Wilson away from this corner of the property. The other side of the river is town conservation land so the only people you're likely to see will be passing by in kayaks or on paddleboards. In dry season, both sites are a great place to start a float trip and you'll likely have the next 1.5 miles all to yourself since rapids up stream become impassable wet rocks in July and August. You are only two traffic lights away from the Merrimack Premium Outlet Mall if you need something to do during inclement weather.

Timothy Ruggles bought this land from the Native Americans for his family to live on, and to work the land. His son, Brigadeer General Timothy Ruggles became unpopular after he introduced the Stamp Act, and was banished to Nova Scotia. His daughter Bathsheba became the last woman executed in the United States for the murder of her husband Joshua Spooner. (There’s a book about it called Murdered by his wife, by Deborah Navas.) Medicine River Pow Wow is in August here in Gilbertville, on River Run Rd. The East Quabbin Land Trust has birdwatching and fabulous views, and the Mass Central Rail Trail entrance is located here. Bike it or hike it! Quabbin Reservoir is close by for boating and fishing. There are free concerts in Grenville Park in Ware, (check for dates). Ware also has Janine’s Frostee ice cream and fast foods- and live music on weekend nights! Also check out these on line: Ragged Hill orchard and Rock House Reservation in West Brookfield, and Carter and Stevens farm in Barre. The Leicester, and Mendon movie drive-in’s. Old Sturbridge village is 30 minutes away. Lake Lashaway has a swimming area in East Brookfield, right off of Rte 9. It’s about 20 minutes from here. Lake Siog in Holland has a lovely picnic area and beach for swimming. (30 mins South from here) Is this area great or what?!

The best forecast we've found for Merrimack is https://www.wmur.com/weather. Want to see what the river is doing? Check out https://water.noaa.gov/gauges/SOHN3. 500 CFS is a sporty run with canoe or kayak. SPECIAL NOTE: June 16th Update River has dropped to 300 CFS which means it's still a bit pushy but is at a nice level for boating. Roads are passable. We just had campsites and surrounding trails sprayed for mosquitos so we hope for a sharp improvement on those pests. Still bring your repellent and stop at WalMart or shop Amazon for a Thermocell. Keeping the campfire burning helps as well. More description... Site-1 is located under the trees adjacent to our 3 acre meadow and Christmas Tree farm. Camp near the bank of the Souhegan River in the shade while listening to the river tumble over the ledges upstream. In season, enjoy the chest deep swimming hole 100 feet from your campsite. Two horses graze on the other side of the privacy fence. If you don't like friendly dogs try site 2 where we have a better chance of keeping our dog Wilson from dropping in to visit. He loves people too much not to want to greet folks on Site 1. Site-2 is at the farthest most downstream end of the property and from mid-May to mid-October it is totally screened by foliage. From your site you only see trees and the river. If you don't like other dogs, this is the site you want. Still no guarantee Wilson won't visit, but it's easier to keep Wilson away from this corner of the property. The other side of the river is town conservation land so the only people you're likely to see will be passing by in kayaks or on paddleboards. In dry season, both sites are a great place to start a float trip and you'll likely have the next 1.5 miles all to yourself since rapids up stream become impassable wet rocks in July and August. You are only two traffic lights away from the Merrimack Premium Outlet Mall if you need something to do during inclement weather.

My thirty acres is attached to the family's estate, which is eighty acres in total. PLEASE NOTE: The campsite is not accessible by vehicle; you must park your car and walk in to the woods -- the "verify entrance" portion of the Hipcamp website does not list this as a selection. You will need to leave your vehicle in the parking area just off the driveway. Shared driveway entrance to the woods to leave car or truck. if you're just looking to pitch a tent behind your car for the night, this has been an option for people in the past who were traveling and wanted a safe, quiet space to sleep (as an alternative to having to book a hotel/motel) - No RV campers please! Tents and car camping only. The driveway is small, and two houses are nearby and partially visible from the parking area. For privacy and seclusion, tenting in the woods is recommended. Wilton is a great location to explore neighboring towns as well, drivable to Temple mountain/pack monadnock, mount monadnock, and Pat's peak/crotched mountain ski resort. This is pack in pack out. My animals and I live here so there are people in and out during the day. The farmer Walt is here most summer mornings/afternoons working on his vegetable garden. I communicate quickly, if you need anything just reach out. As one person already found out, yes there are bugs here and no I won’t treat for them with pesticides. The yard by the fire pit is treated with essential oils though! You’re welcome to use it! Fire Marshall wont let me put a pit out the field! Sorry! This in NOT a place for glampers(yet. Maybe some day!) happy hip camping!
