Our cabin is an off grid (very limited power, now way to charge or plug in AC devices) post and beam structure that we built 8 years ago. It's has a full kitchen, wood stove, and screened porch. There are jugs provided for doing dishes etc and a large (150 gallon) tank outside for refills. There are a generous supply of lanterns (both battery and inflatable solar) flashlights and string lights for lighting.
This is a small two story timber frame cabin off grid and secluded deep in the woods. It has a separate outhouse as well as shower stall to use the solar shower bags in. The cabin has a king sized bed in the loft with a child size fold down bunk above it; there is also a pull out couch on the first floor. As well as a kitchen, screened in porch and fire pit. Linen, dishes and utensils are not included please bring all that you need. There is a propane 4 burner stove with oven and solar shower bags. Trash and campfire wood is included. We are very busy with kids and work, we try our best to clean and re-supply between guests but it is not always possible, please let us know if something needs attention!

Tucked among spruce, fir, and birch on Sunshine Island in Deer Isle–Stonington, Four Acre Woods began more than 60 years ago as a small, family-run campground known as Sunshine Campground. In the years that followed, Caleb, a longtime local operator on the island, took interest in the property. Recognizing both its history and its potential to offer people a deeper experience of Deer Isle’s natural beauty, he began the process of carefully restoring and reopening the land.
Working season by season, Caleb rebuilt the sites, added new infrastructure, re-established utilities, and designed a campground that honors the land’s roots while offering a comfortable, modern, and nature-forward experience for today’s guests.
In July 2020, the property reopened under a new name: Four Acre Woods.
Today, it blends the spirit of the original Sunshine Campground with thoughtful stewardship, simple comforts, and a deep respect for the forest that surrounds it. Visitors once again gather under the birches and spruces—sharing campfires, slow mornings, quiet nights, and the timeless island calm that makes this land so special.

Each year we will build on this wilderness campground to make this a place for many. For 2025 we have just a few campsites, some have platforms, some without. Each campsite has a buffer of vegetation with the lake as a view, a fire pit and space to have more than one tent. There will be a camp style toilet; currently we are in motion to have a wooden privy built. There's no running water, not much cell service, no electricity. Park at the main road and pull/carry your camping items into the woods. Your site will be labeled. Trash in, trash out. Firewood, camp owned canoe, and walk the beach (if low levels). Dog friendly: must be friendly, on a leash and please be mindful of dogs digging. Here we value the land, it's sanctuary and soil erosion prevention along the shoreline. There's a hangout at the entrance. Friends and Family Market on rte 1A is the closest resupply.

When you arrive at the big posts and posted signs keep driving through because you are almost there. Originally settled in the early 1800's with a few house's, barn's and an old one room schoolhouse. A few foundations are still visible along with a couple old dug wells and dumps with old bottles.
We now own 365 acres that was named Texas Four Corners (no one knows why) in the middle of 1,600 undeveloped acres with the closest inhabited house from our property is over a half mile away. 15 Mile Stream runs thru the property. 16 miles to Common Ground Fair in Unity. 15 miles to Waterville and 28 miles to Belfast.

Primitive Tent Camping within a mixed wood forest. Located ten miles East of Waterville, Maine or Six miles West of Unity, Maine. The Sebasticook Millennium Green is a terraced 207 acre forest with over 18 miles of trails. Vehicle access is via a seasonal town road with parking a short walk from campsites. There are four unimproved sites with picnic tables and fire rings that will only accommodate one tent. These sites are accessible with a regular vehicle and located a short distance from the marginally maintained (dirt) town road. We try to provide firewood for the sites when possible and campers are welcome to gather downed wood to use. There is a fifth site (ridge) that is a mile hike through the woods or accessible via 4wd vehicle, this site has room for four tents, has a large firepit, three picnic tables and an outhouse.

Wherever we go people either say "I love Maine!" or "I've always wanted to go to Maine!" This naturally wooded lot with a platform for your tent or table, is a perfect place to camp or park your RV and enjoy the beauty of Mid-Coast Maine. (Look for the lobster bouy on the tree and the lobster trap on the ground as you circle the street turn around.) It is located in the middle of the Pemaquid Peninsula, home to Maine's most famous lighthouse: it’s on the U.S. quarter. This is a great spot from which to explore beaches (8 miles), canoeing and kayaking (2 miles), state and national parks, and hiking trails (8 miles). There are great restaurants, shops, summer theater, art studios and antique markets in nearby Damariscotta and all along the Maine coast. Throughout the summer there are lobster fests, music fests, fairs and even a Pumpkin Regata (in Oct) when the fall foliage is at its peak.
No camp fires as water source is 1.5 miles at town spring tap. This water is currently not portable but fine for washing. Public Port-a-potty at swimming hole 1.4 mi.

Guests can walk the gardens, sit by the pond, walk down to the tidal falls, walk the hundreds of acres of conservation land adjacent to the farm, or check out the abandoned rail line, which folks can walk to town on.

The land our farm is on has been in my family for generations. It was originally part of my Great Grand Fathers dairy farm. We took over this section of the land to create our own farm several years ago. We raise beef, pork, chicken, and goats to sell. We also have several horses on the farm. The camping spot has been used by our family for years hosting “back forty” parties and weekend getaways. The pond was dug by my grandfather over 40 years ago for irrigation. It is no longer used for that and has become a wonderful frog pond that is stocked with trout. Tucked among spruce, fir, and birch on Sunshine Island in Deer Isle–Stonington, Four Acre Woods began more than 60 years ago as a small, family-run campground known as Sunshine Campground. Travelers from across the world visited this quiet island forest, drawn to its raw beauty and the peaceful energy that generations before us had loved and cared for.
The campground eventually closed in the 1990s and sat untouched for over 15 years—its trails, clearings, and old campsites slowly reclaimed by the woods. The land waited, quietly, for someone to bring it back to life.
In the years that followed, Caleb, a longtime local operator on the island, took interest in the property. Recognizing both its history and its potential to offer people a deeper experience of Deer Isle’s natural beauty, he began the process of carefully restoring and reopening the land.
Working season by season, Caleb rebuilt the sites, added new infrastructure, re-established utilities, and designed a campground that honors the land’s roots while offering a comfortable, modern, and nature-forward experience for today’s guests.
In July 2020, the property reopened under a new name: Four Acre Woods.
Today, it blends the spirit of the original Sunshine Campground with thoughtful stewardship, simple comforts, and a deep respect for the forest that surrounds it. Visitors once again gather under the birches and spruces—sharing campfires, slow mornings, quiet nights, and the timeless island calm that makes this land so special.

Each year we will build on this wilderness campground to make this a place for many. For 2025 we have just a few campsites, some have platforms, some without. Each campsite has a buffer of vegetation with the lake as a view, a fire pit and space to have more than one tent. There will be a camp style toilet; currently we are in motion to have a wooden privy built. There's no running water, not much cell service, no electricity. Park at the main road and pull/carry your camping items into the woods. Your site will be labeled. Trash in, trash out. Firewood, camp owned canoe, and walk the beach (if low levels). Dog friendly: must be friendly, on a leash and please be mindful of dogs digging. Here we value the land, it's sanctuary and soil erosion prevention along the shoreline. There's a hangout at the entrance. Friends and Family Market on rte 1A is the closest resupply.

The Sebasticook Millennium Green is a terraced 207 acre forest with over 18 miles of trails. Vehicle access is via a seasonal town road with parking a short walk from campsites. There are four unimproved sites with picnic tables and fire rings that will only accommodate one tent. These sites are accessible with a regular vehicle and located a short distance from the marginally maintained (dirt) town road. We try to provide firewood for the sites when possible and campers are welcome to gather downed wood to use. There is a fifth site (ridge) that is a mile hike through the woods or accessible via 4wd vehicle, this site has room for four tents, has a large firepit, three picnic tables and an outhouse.

Wherever we go people either say "I love Maine!" or "I've always wanted to go to Maine!" This naturally wooded lot with a platform for your tent or table, is a perfect place to camp or park your RV and enjoy the beauty of Mid-Coast Maine. (Look for the lobster bouy on the tree and the lobster trap on the ground as you circle the street turn around.) It is located in the middle of the Pemaquid Peninsula, home to Maine's most famous lighthouse: it’s on the U.S. quarter. This is a great spot from which to explore beaches (8 miles), canoeing and kayaking (2 miles), state and national parks, and hiking trails (8 miles). There are great restaurants, shops, summer theater, art studios and antique markets in nearby Damariscotta and all along the Maine coast. Throughout the summer there are lobster fests, music fests, fairs and even a Pumpkin Regata (in Oct) when the fall foliage is at its peak.
No camp fires as water source is 1.5 miles at town spring tap. This water is currently not portable but fine for washing. Public Port-a-potty at swimming hole 1.4 mi.

The land our farm is on has been in my family for generations. It was originally part of my Great Grand Fathers dairy farm. We took over this section of the land to create our own farm several years ago. We raise beef, pork, chicken, and goats to sell. We also have several horses on the farm. The camping spot has been used by our family for years hosting “back forty” parties and weekend getaways. The pond was dug by my grandfather over 40 years ago for irrigation. It is no longer used for that and has become a wonderful frog pond that is stocked with trout. Over the last few years, we upgraded the camping area with a shed, outhouse, fire pit and granite bench, and a bean hole bean pit. The shed is used for firewood storage and other camp items. We have direct access to the ATV/Multi use trail system that can take you all over Central Maine. We have mowed waking trails around the property and acres of woods to explore.

This spot was nice and felt secluded and it's in a great location making it easy to access the coast and Bangor. I met a man out there "Tipping" for wreaths which apparently is done after the 3rd frost? It was cool to get a brief run down about it. I would definitley recommend Bruce camps. I stayed at the "Greedo" and it was a short walk in because I have an HRV and not enough clearence but I'd say its about 100' down a slight grade to the tent site.

Amazing spot! This was one of our best Hipcamp experiences. Quiet, private spot with amazing sunrise views. Cory was very communicative and gave great directions. The site is located back from the road and working farm so you feel remote. There are tons of amenities in the area, and it was a great place to explore Moosehead and the Belgrade areas. We can’t wait to return.

Hosts were so helpful. The site #3 was lovely. It is tucked in against the woods under a sheltering tree. There is a fascinating pile of boulders nearby, pulled from the fields over the years. The view across the blueberry fields in their autumn colors was spectacular.

A great place to do nothing. But if you must do, there’s plenty to do. The privacy and expansive views are hard to beat. And — while maples and oaks get all of the attention in autumn — blueberry barren fall foliage is hard to beat. You’re surrounded by scarlet waves.
The site itself has everything you need: porta potty, fire pit, picnic table, privacy.
You’re about an hour and change outside of Acadia NP if you wanted to do a day trip. There are some nice trails on the quiet side by Long Pond. Closer to the site, the Barred Island Preserve trail is one of my favorites. Or grab a coffee at 44 North then head to Sand Beach in Stonington.

Excellent site in one of Maine's best places. Unusual (in a good way) sites that are well set on a blueberry barren. Gives for open views and beautiful nights. Castine is 15 minutes away and complements your outdoor journey.
