It started years ago my sister and I stayed in a yurt at a campground in Oregon. That was it. I was hooked so I got one. There is something magical about staying in a round structure in the trees. My love of nature and comfort drove me to create this special place to be able to share it with others.
My TreeYurt is a platform built high in the trees so it essentially like a treehouse but with a yurt instead. It is located in the back part of my property surrounded by woods. In the spring there is a small stream running nearby. The land is somewhat sloped yet comfortable.
There are apple orchards nearby and many hiking trails a short distance away as well as Portland a mere 15 minutes.
The kitchenette has a small fridge a toaster oven a coffee maker a cook top with two burners pots pans utensils plates and bowls and kitchen towels as well a propane grill outside.
There is a wood stove for heating in the winter as well as a monitor heater that makes it very cozy for chilly nights. The yurt is insulated so it is a great year round glamping (glorified camping) adventure. I provide fire some wood for the wood stove inside but the camp fire wood for the outdoor fire pit is $8 per bundle.
The outhouse has a dry flush toilet and instructions at located in the yurt and out house. There is seasonal running hot and cold water (May through October) for the outdoor sink which is available for use for dishwashing and a bit of cleaning up. Also an outdoor shower is available for use May through October and biodegradable soaps and shampoo are provided. I provide gallons of drinking water and dishwashing water for the colder months inside the yurt with dish tubs sponges and soap.

Megquier place as they used to call it. Built in 1775, Megquier farm was the first homestead in the town of New Gloucester. The house here is supposedly the oldest in New Gloucester. Situated on originally 60 now 30 acres of woodland, with trails of all sorts that weave through the property which is surrounded by mostly farmland and wooded terrain.
The Megquier family who built the house had relations with local indigenous people trading cider from their orchard. They also were known to be rebellious towards English rule at the time and were involved in the local militia leading to the revolutionary war against English rule. Proof of which lies in some historic photos of family members dressed in militia uniform right in front of my house way back when. Furthermore, construction of the house itself violated the kings rule that no tree over two feet in diameter marked by the kings agents was to be harvested. However, the roof sheathing in the house are two feet wide at least. Interesting to review the history of mast landing in Freeport Maine, just a few miles away.
More recent undocumented history of this property is just as interesting. I’m told that during the Vietnam war period, many people resided here in commune to resist the draft for that illegal war. They camped along what was once a pond here on a sunny hillside with towering Hemlock trees. Proof of which lies just under the ground such as old beer bottle and cans from that time as well as the rusted front end of an old International Harvester bus similar the one Ken Keasey and the merry pranksters drove around the US with. Pretty cool.
I’m told that this place has a cool vibe to it, in the house and around the property. Hopefully I’m keeping that intact. After 7 years here I’ve created a network of trails for biking, skiing and exploring. I’ve carved out a nice high and dry hilltop camp with two 12’x12’ platforms and a composting outhouse. It’s situated on the most isolated area of the property. It’s quiet, private and gets great afternoon/evening light. Totally chill place to isolate. And mountain bike.
There are approximately 7 kilometers of private bike trails to explore and more always being created. Very close to other local biking trial networks via some road sections or a quick shuttle to other trailheads.
Also there’s a decent little sandy swimming hole a mile down the road.

You’ll be able to bike directly from here all the way to Bradbury Mountain state park and back (about 3-4 hrs) or easily drive to multiple trail networks. Pineland Farms located 1 mile away. 15 minutes to Bradbury Mountain state park. 20 minutes to Freeport Maine and LL Bean. 30 minute drive to downtown Portland. 10 minute drive to the nearest store. You’ll be all by yourself out there but close enough to hear the road nearby. You may see people riding a bike down on the main trail but you’ll be all set on top of the camp hill. I’ve created this one awesome refined site. There’s a lot of room here and plenty of spots for primitive camping. Don’t hesitate to contact me with questions.

Hidden Brook is located on a small family-owned vegetable farm five minutes outside the village of Cornish, Maine. Three generations of farmers live here presently, but our family has been working this land since the mid 1700’s.
Cornish is a pretty special place to live and visit because we are about 50 minutes drive from both the city of Portland on the coast and the White Mountains to the west. There are tons of local hikes here in the foothills, two big rivers to float or paddle, dozens of swim spots, good fishing, and a lively little village with at least 7 antiques shops, local art, and some pretty darn good restaurants. Our neighborhood even hosts some of the best musicians in the world each July at The Ossippee Valley Music Festival. Yeah, we got it all going on! Come play with us or just chill at Hidden Brook.
So far, we have one spot open for “glamping”, The Bus, but we will add the Wagon this fall.
The Bus, an engineless 1973 Bluebird School bus is pretty pimped out. Though off the grid, cell reception is pretty good and rechargable lighting is provided. Our outdoor kitchen, on a spacious deck ( fenced in for kids ) includes a heavy duty propane stove, Yeti cooler and pots and pans. Indoors, there’s a slop-bucket sink for tooth-brushing (dishes are to be washed out on the deck ), a small woodstove to take off the chill come fall and a nice big fire pit outside. Wood is provided. Buses can get hot in summer, so we put ours in a shady little grove of ancient oaks amongst the remains of the farm’s original stonework and installed screens the full length of the bus. We built a compost-style outhouse and a beautiful outdoor shower we call “The Cold Drizzler” down in the old homestead cellar hole. Kind of a secret garden bathroom : )
Inside is a full-sized bed for one or two people and two cot-sized “75 long bunks, sleeping a total of four humans. Quality mattresses, sheets and blankets with a change of sheets and tons of pillows ought to provide a comfortable night’s sleep. Four towels and face cloths provided. Coffee and “pour-overs” on site as well as silverware, bowls and plates. All you really need is ice for the cooler and your food - or just go out to eat.

Directions to Hidden Brook and the Bus:
You will be given directions to an address once you book but please make sure that you follow the signage to the bus carefully, otherwise you’ll end up at the wrong property. Drive until you see two giant, eyeballs attached to a telephone pole, and the bus will be immediately after that on your right. Thank you so much.

Christine and Tyler’s land is very private and they have everything you could possibly need for your camping getaway. They have solar powered lights, solo stove, chairs, kayaks, canoe, porta-potty and if you happen to forget anything, I guarantee it’s in their trailer of goodies! My dog was able to spend some time off leash while we fished right off the small dock. A perfect touch was the extra chair and table set up at “the point” which was my breakfast spot. Lots of good local hiking , we enjoyed Mount Cutler which is only 10 minutes away. Christine and Tyler were super communicative and even called a local spot to make sure they had what I needed before I drove there! They’ve made a great spot that I will definitely visit again!

Weekend Trip to BrandiLee Woods at the Woolley farm
We booked this stay at the last minute, and it turned out to be one of the best weekends we’ve ever had.
The farm is beautifully natural, peaceful, and full of amazing animals. We stayed in the Pasture View Tent, and it had everything we could have needed. The bed was comfortable, with fresh, clean sheets and towels. The tent was thoughtfully stocked with pots and pans, utensils, grill tools, wine glasses, cups, salt and pepper, paper towels, and so many little extras. It honestly had more amenities than many hotel rooms!
The outhouse was absolutely adorable, and we even enjoyed taking an outdoor shower, which made the whole experience even more special.
The owners are some of the kindest and most welcoming hosts we’ve ever met. Sandi took the time to introduce us to all of the animals, let us help feed them, shared wonderful stories, and even gave us the opportunity to brush and sit on a horse for the first time in our lives. It was such a memorable experience.
Brian is an incredibly talented carpenter, and his craftsmanship can be seen throughout the property—from the covered bridge and charming trail light posts to the sauna, cabin, and beautifully built tents. His attention to detail truly adds to the magic of the farm.

Lovely place tucked away from the main hustle and bustle but still very much easily accessible to the main hub of town. I wish I'd had a bit longer to stay but with traffic and plans to go further north I was a quick turn and burn. It was a nice clean site with a table, chairs, benches and a firepit provided and an easy walking woodchips base to get around and set up on. Out house was nice and clean and easy to utilize for your #2 happenstances. Overall, I recommend and would come back again!

Can’t say enough good/ great things about the camp site. Completely dialed and private. We spent 2 nights there, plugged in. Paddled everyday, fished - site is directly on the water. Quiet, beautiful view (special point with chairs down a wandering path with 180 degree view of the Saco and a constant breeze. And…. No bugs, magic!

We absolutely loved our stay! You can tell how much love and care has been put into this place from all the little details, starting from the moment you arrive at the gate. Sandi was so welcoming and even introduced us to the animals, including the horses, which we loved. The cabin was so cozy and peaceful. I also loved walking around the property and coming across the beautiful gazebo and covered bridge tucked away in the woods. The whole place felt so special. Christine and Tyler’s Hipcamp is just as described! It’s a fairly quiet spot right on the Saco River. They provide kayaks and tubes for floating. Their trailer is full of lots of useful and thoughtful items including a broom to sweep out your tent!
It’s lovely to sit in the Adirondack chairs and drink coffee. So peaceful. There are plenty of local trails to choose from for day hikes too!
The only thing I’d point out is that you can hear traffic from a local road across the river. It’s pretty constant. It didn’t bother us but I think it’s useful information if someone is looking for a more silent getaway.

41 ft fifth wheel
What a gem of a spot. We tow a 40ft 5th wheel and had no trouble getting into this secluded and immaculate spot. Dan was super welcoming and a real pleasure to speak with. He checked in on us - you can tell he is an extremely motivated host and takes pride in his property and strives to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of his guests. We look forward to the possible improvements to the trail/shoreline (which Dan was working on when we left!) .
You are tucked away so expect the usual suspects of mosquitoes and flies but nothing that would change our mind about returning or affected our stay. The lake was refreshing, clear, with an awesome sandy bottom. Loons calling were a bonus!! We would absolutely return! Thank you Dan for the level of care and thought that went into creating this destination!

I loved staying at campsite 2 for the night. I’m not from the area and I felt so welcomed by the farm hands and had a great time walking around seeing all the animals. The dogs were my favorite (they’re so sweet)!

My husband and I had a great time tent camping here with our two dogs. It was very shady and perfect for the hot weekend we landed here. 😅 Plus the river down the road is awesome. We all enjoyed hanging by the river and going in for a dip to beat the heat. It was perfect. Matt was very friendly.

Weekend Trip to Hidden Brook At Merrifield Farm
This is a very welcoming atmosphere! Everything was thoughtfully planned and very organized! The host, Andrews, is super kind and very accommodating. Surrounded by beautiful nature adventures to explore as well as awesome antiquing and restaurants downtown, it’s truly a perfect spot. The binder was full of everything you need to know! We can’t wait to be back and we’re so thankful we booked!

3 nights at BrandiLee Woods at the Woolley farm
Truly the best Glamping experience was provided! We really felt so much thoughtfulness went into preparing the cabin and loved talking with Sandi. Tucker is the friendliest pup, Drifter is the warmest barn kitty. We definitely want to visit again. Directions were clear, easy to find location.

16 ft travel trailer
We have stayed at a lot of different hipcamps in a lot of different states and this is one of our favorites! Full hook ups, super private and an amazing cove to swim in. What more could you ask for!
