Great synchronicity led us to the wild 30 acres of marsh and woodland that is Turtle Marsh. In addition to making a home here, we dedicating the area as a sanctuary for the quiet enjoyment of nature, eco-spiritual practices and healing. We are now recognized by the World Wildlife Fund as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. We have trails on the property that are designed for contemplative walks, along with several benches where you can sit in quiet enjoyment, undisturbed by human intrusions. There are several trailheads for the Hills to Sea Trail within a mile of our property. The quintessential New England waterfront town of Belfast on Penobscot Bay, is less than 30 minutes away. One of our favorite spots for quiet hikes along the shore of the bay, is Sears Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the east coast, that is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is 50 minutes away and even on the busiest summer days, its's usually possible to find a quiet spot on the shore to sit and reflect. As we continue to deepen our relationship with this land, we are trying to follow the principles of Deep Ecology in all of our interactions. Our tentsites, while only a 5 minute walk from the road, have been sited to offer as much solitude as possible, with minimal disruption to the surroundings. For 2025 we are opening a new site. It is a little more secluded, 2-3 minutes further from the road in a very quiet wooded niche, at the edge of the marsh. It is also a little smaller tent (10' diameter) situated on a platform, and a little more "camping" than "glamping". We are pricing the stay there according. In spite of being nestled in the woods, no trees were cut to prepare these relatively accessible sites. We believe that they still offer a very tangible sense of wildness and solitude. Its 108-acres feature historic cabins and 4000 feet of frontage on Cobbossee Stream in West Gardiner. I have now camped on the lakefront in my tent and then again using the cabin. You can read my other review about the lakefront, which was fabulous. The cabin was too. Cozy, plenty of things to make one comfortable, another outdoor fire pit there, quiet, private, a great place to be in the woods!

This was a very comfortable, well organized and visually pleasing place to land, especially for a weary traveler who had tent camped in the rain the previous night. There was an efficient system for everything. Even the fire pit was set up and ready to light! The toilet and shower/washing sink set up were well thought out as well. I'd definitely return to this cabin!

Weekend Trip to Hidden Valley Nature Center

So fun!! This seriously rocked. If you are a family looking to take kids on a low effort trip… book this now! The cabin was perfect for my family (2 adults, two 8yo boys, 2 yo and infant. Was simple to pull a wagon to. The covered picnic table was awesome. There was no traffic past our cabin all weekend making it feel so secluded which was awesome for our sometimes anxious dog. The boys loved riding their bikes on the trails and exploring the ponds. We can’t wait to come back!!!!

What a great area I was really surprised when I got down in there that we couldn't hear any traffic whatsoever which was really nice it's really tucked away nicely deep down in the woods there listening to the loons watching the eagles the people before I left it a little messy so took it upon myself to clean up what they left behind cute little setup though can't wait to go back going to try out the other cabin next

Had a terrific solo trip at cabin 2! The cart to bring your supplies to the cabin was greatly appreciated. The beautiful 1/4 mile walk through the forests was stunning. The cabin was perfect for the price, water pump in the sink to wash hands/dishes, lots of pots/pans/bug spray/salt/plates, bed was ok, screened porch was a godsend and solar lights really helped! I loved that they had firewood for the campfire and the privacy was unmatched. No one was in cabin 1 so it was just me in the Maine woods! The only thing that would have made it better is if they had a sofa inside. FYI: AT&T doesn’t work at the cabin, but it’s good to fall off the face of the earth every once in awhile.

This campsite/trip is one for the books! Total privacy, great location(drive in theater and restaurants close by), trails and gardens to walk through, and at night the skies were clear to see the stars out in the fields. Highly recommended!

New deck in 2022 and inviting Adirondack chairs make for a pleasant stay.

3 nights at The Bird's Nest-Private Tiny House

Beautiful place. We loved every second. Very clean and sooo charming. It was literally the best place. Felt very much alone and removed from everything (which was what we were going for :) ) Close to the lake, which was beautiful. We cooked on the fire, played fetch with the dog, read books and did nothing all day.

Weekend Trip to Owls Corner Cabin

Staying at the Owl’s Corner Cabin was great! The place was easy to find and Michelle gave us great directions. She was always eager to help and give us advice on things to do and explore near Clinton which made our stay much more unique and unforgettable. The amenities were clean, well kept and the cabin was isolated enough to feel good privacy (except good company from the owls). We really have no complaints. Everything was awesome and we’re hoping to come back!

Best campground for families with children and doggies! , they have a doggy 🐕 play area, pool, bouncy floor area, playground, gem mining area, rec room with bathrooms/showers inside and washing machines! And you HAVE to go out at night and see the beautiful stars !! Juay stare at the sky and let your eyes adjust for a few seconds! Cabin 1 is so far the best and a bit more private if you park your car sideways for a bit more privacy from the rv camper next to you and it's very close to all amenities like only steps away! So if you have little ones I highly suggest cabin 1!! Especially if you need to do late night bathroom trips or for washing your laundry etc! Also the camp store is connected to the amenities. The food is AMAZING tasted like your local restaurant the pizza is sooo cheesy and delicious 😋 tenders, mozerela sticks etc was so good, prices were really good too ! The staff of women i saw and interacted with are so friendly!!! The vibes was just perfect. Love it, highly recommend for families with children, they will love it! Also they have movie nights on Fridays 😊 it was worth the 5 hour trip! Also there were many with atvs so i bet those people had a blast too riding around! Also if your hesitant about bringing bicycles for your little ones , you totally should! The road is perfect for bikes , even saw little ones with training wheels riding around like nothing so perfect flooring !

The clear lake, the beautiful trees, the view of the hills, a great fire pit and cooking/eating table, a spot for a tent or a cabin in the woods, and a wonderful responsive host who is friendly and helpful. Don’t miss out on this gem. It truly gets away from it all and back to nature. 💚

1 night at Owls Corner Cabin

We had such a lovely trip. This newly built offgrid cabin is cozy and beautifully decorated. The showers and compostable toilet were very well designed and pristinely clean. It’s a fun location with wild blueberry picking in the summer and goats you can spot on the way in. The host Michelle is a great communicator and the directions were so nicely laid out. is My 9 year old and I enjoyed thoroughly and will be back :)

4 nights at Porcupine Creek Rustic Camping

This was our second time at Porcupine Creek and it was (once more) absolutely wonderful! We stayed in the Owl's Nest this time (last time: Chickadee Corner) and loved every minute. Jeff and Cathy have set up everything extremely thoughtfully and they provide everything one could possibly need for a relaxing vacation. Every day they stopped by and brought us anything we might need (such as water, solar shower bags, firewood, etc.). The site is private and it's a true nature experience--from our campsite we saw many deer, a porcupine, a skunk, and many different kinds of birds. The location is excellent as well; there are many nearby beaches on lakes that are great for swimming and kayaking. There are also some great places to hike--we recommend the Palermo Preserve and Camden State Park.

1 night at Owls Corner Cabin

This cabin is an absolute delight! Really, it was just what I would have wanted in a cabin in the woods, and nothing more. A clean simple cabin that smelled like the pretty wood it was made from, with a big queen air mattress as described, and a wood stove I could imagine loving in the winter. Super private, owls calling late into the night with all the other woodsy cricket and bird sounds. The fire pit is great, with a small pile of hardwood for us to use. You may want to have some smaller pieces of woods on hand for building the fire up, but it was also fun to search in the woods and figure it out like a puzzle. Nice composting toilet, and a little sink setup and little shower that we didn’t try. The stars were beautiful. I hope to come back sometime. Enjoy!
