Closer to home Porter Lake is a beautiful lake to Swim, Kayak, Canoe or Fish. This lake has an island which is home to Bald Eagles raising their young there. Eustis offers Flagstaff Lake, a popular spot for Kayakers. The lucky ones get a glimpse of a Moose.Maybe you prefer Biking or golfing in Carrabassett at Sugarloaf, hiking in Coos Canyon in Weld, Whitewater Rafting in the Forks Certain times of the year folks take tubes floating down the Sandy River. Our ATV trail is right out of the driveway heading up the dirt road.
There is a lot to see and do in the area. . We look forward to meeting our guests, our new friends. Bring food, ice, clothing, extra blankets if you are one that gets chilled at night and of course some bug and tick repellent. Your site will be well stocked for comfort. This is a quaint, off grid cabin located in Elliotsville, Me., surrounded by wilderness, next to the Appalachian Trail in the 100 Mile Wilderness. Propane lights, glass front woodstove, fully operational kitchen, propane cookstove, fire pit out front, BBQ grill on porch. Firewood and propane and plenty of water at sink provided. 2 8ft kayaks for your use to explore all the ponds and lakes nearby. You can spend days or weeks exploring the area, hiking, biking, canoeing, mountain climbing and swimming. Its like going back in time a hundred years but you have some cell reception, unlike our ancestors. Have made several improvements to cabin not yet reflected in guest photos. Yeti type cooler provided for refrigeration of food for longer stays. The cabin is small but can accommodate 5 easily. Queen bed with bunk beds in 1st floor bedroom, full size and twin bed in upstairs bedroom. Clean linens provided. Open kitchen and living room. Seems like most people love it. Pretty sure you will too. So much to do in the area. Be as bored or as active as you want. Welcome book with directions to local spots all very close. Waterfalls, the most beautiful lake (Onawa), swimming holes... all close by. Appalachian trail out back. Other sites close by must be driven to but close by still, away from town. Great synchronicity led us to the wild 30 acres of marsh and woodland that is Turtle Marsh. In addition to making a home here, we dedicating the area as a sanctuary for the quiet enjoyment of nature, eco-spiritual practices and healing. We are now recognized by the World Wildlife Fund as a Certified Wildlife Habitat.
We have trails on the property that are designed for contemplative walks, along with several benches where you can sit in quiet enjoyment, undisturbed by human intrusions.
There are several trailheads for the Hills to Sea Trail within a mile of our property. The quintessential New England waterfront town of Belfast on Penobscot Bay, is less than 30 minutes away. One of our favorite spots for quiet hikes along the shore of the bay, is Sears Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the east coast, that is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is 50 minutes away and even on the busiest summer days, its's usually possible to find a quiet spot on the shore to sit and reflect.
As we continue to deepen our relationship with this land, we are trying to follow the principles of Deep Ecology in all of our interactions. Our tentsites, while only a 5 minute walk from the road, have been sited to offer as much solitude as possible, with minimal disruption to the surroundings.
For 2025 we are opening a new site. It is a little more secluded, 2-3 minutes further from the road in a very quiet wooded niche, at the edge of the marsh. It is also a little smaller tent (10' diameter) situated on a platform, and a little more "camping" than "glamping". We are pricing the stay there according.
In spite of being nestled in the woods, no trees were cut to prepare these relatively accessible sites. We believe that they still offer a very tangible sense of wildness and solitude.

Take a walk out the door into the woods, play down by the stream- have a campfire- or spend the day with your nose in a good book. The loft is fully stocked with paints and brushes if you're feeling the flow! It's just a great place to let go, and relax!
The sky is intense- the owls are loud, and there is plenty to do within a short drive incase ya get cabin fever and want to get back into the world for some fun!
Make sure to save some time to take a paddle on the canoe, kayaks, or paddleboard that we leave down at a nearby pond for you!

Inquire about fishing gear rentals if you don’t have any or forgot to bring it. Ample parking provided & solar lights will guide you to your yurt. There are three units in total so if there are other guests occupying other units please be respectful and courteous. Great synchronicity led us to the wild 30 acres of marsh and woodland that is Turtle Marsh. In addition to making a home here, we dedicating the area as a sanctuary for the quiet enjoyment of nature, eco-spiritual practices and healing. We are now recognized by the World Wildlife Fund as a Certified Wildlife Habitat.
We have trails on the property that are designed for contemplative walks, along with several benches where you can sit in quiet enjoyment, undisturbed by human intrusions.
There are several trailheads for the Hills to Sea Trail within a mile of our property. The quintessential New England waterfront town of Belfast on Penobscot Bay, is less than 30 minutes away. One of our favorite spots for quiet hikes along the shore of the bay, is Sears Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the east coast, that is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is 50 minutes away and even on the busiest summer days, its's usually possible to find a quiet spot on the shore to sit and reflect.
As we continue to deepen our relationship with this land, we are trying to follow the principles of Deep Ecology in all of our interactions. Our tentsites, while only a 5 minute walk from the road, have been sited to offer as much solitude as possible, with minimal disruption to the surroundings.
For 2025 we are opening a new site. It is a little more secluded, 2-3 minutes further from the road in a very quiet wooded niche, at the edge of the marsh. It is also a little smaller tent (10' diameter) situated on a platform, and a little more "camping" than "glamping". We are pricing the stay there according.
In spite of being nestled in the woods, no trees were cut to prepare these relatively accessible sites. We believe that they still offer a very tangible sense of wildness and solitude.

Now a tiny dirt road, with ultimate privacy, Stone Hill was once a bustling 'highway' for folks traveling by horse and carriage as early as the 1700's and before then the lush valley was a thriving home for the Abenaki Tribe.
This land is a gorgeous example of Maine's pristine nature and is full of native plants, fungi, and animals that we share the space with!
The cabin is a cute little space made from recycled materials, creative building skills, and a whole lot of love. Nothing fancy by any means, just a fun spot to hide away with loved ones! We celebrate the simple things in life here. It's perfect for couples, small families, or upto 4 guests in 2 beds.
Take a walk out the door into the woods, play down by the stream- have a campfire- or spend the day with your nose in a good book. The loft is fully stocked with paints and brushes if you're feeling the flow! It's just a great place to let go, and relax!
The sky is intense- the owls are loud, and there is plenty to do within a short drive incase ya get cabin fever and want to get back into the world for some fun!
Make sure to save some time to take a paddle on the canoe, kayaks, or paddleboard that we leave down at a nearby pond for you!

The bathroom consists of a clean “two holer” for those of you more comfortable with one another, outhouse, toilet paper provided. It’s a 5 minute walk to Wolph Pond where you’ll find some of the best Large Mouth Bass fishing in Maine. You’ll also catch Crappie, Bluegill and Sunfish if you prefer. We only allow catch & release fishing & ask that you bend the barbs on the fish hooks for the safety of the fish. Feel free to enjoy a paddle in one of our complimentary canoes or get in a leg workout with a paddle boat. Life vests are provided & must be worn at all times if you’re in one of the boats. Inquire about fishing gear rentals if you don’t have any or forgot to bring it. Ample parking provided & solar lights will guide you to your yurt. There are three units in total so if there are other guests occupying other units please be respectful and courteous. Some of the amenities are shared such as the communal fire pit, outhouse and boats.

This was a great cabin! Had everything we needed and kept us nice and warm through the night. Jamin was super helpful in showing us how to get to the cabin when we arrived in the dark. Did some fishing and was perfect for our two nights. We were there in mid November and were so grateful he kept the cabin running for us.

Weekend Trip to 100 Mile Wilderness Cabin
This was our second visit to Paul's cabin and did not disappoint again. Paul made sure there was enough water and wood to last our stay. There is now a flushing toilet outside which was a nice treat. There are many fantastic walking trails close by including the Appalachian Trail. This time round we spent time at North Pond and Juniper Knee Pond and hiked 4ish hour to Little Wilson Falls (there and back and time at the falls).

My pup and I had a great time at ToLR. We had a hilarious greeting of turkeys and hens and then about 100 yards then to the right and we were there!
The happy birds were a highlight each morning, the nuthatches were busy. The trails behind the woodshed were lovely and quiet. The cabin was so clean and so thoughtfully done. We didn’t want to leave and will for sure be back. Such a lovely and peaceful place.

Really unique and amazing stay, can't recommend this place enough! Learned about three medicinal mushrooms that grow on the property through the walks with Peter and Willie. Some neat evidence of beaver activity was spotted as well. You can hear barn owls in the evening. If you did get any rain or wind while there it's rather pleasant. Was nice to know if you do need anything the cabin and Peter were a short walk away. I even got Peters book which I can't wait to read!

Sweet little cabin in the woods! Jamin was super accommodating and even built an outside fire for us prior to arrival. More spacious than you might think for a small cabin. We opted not to use the generator but it was nice to have that option. We enjoyed staying here as a launch point for the weekend of the Common Ground fair just up the road in Unity. Felt very cozy and private. Could be great for a small group of people or just a couple like us.

Weekend Trip to Turtle Marsh- secluded wooded site.
Due to impending weather, we had to change our plans and make a last minute booking. The site was perfect for us. The property is beautiful with a network of small trails crisscrossing it. The site is peaceful and private, and even during a significant downpour we were able to stay dry in the canvas bell tent.
Peter is everything you could want in a host. He went out of way to be helpful, he's friendly, genuine, and responsive to communication, while still respecting his guests space and privacy. Plus his dog is the best!
We would highly recommend staying here.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The cabin was cozy with everything we needed for cooking right on hand. Super easy to get to, which made the trip more relaxing.
The location was prime, about 100 yards of waterfront to enjoy, with sunny mornings and shady afternoons that were perfect for hanging out. Our two dogs had the best time. We’d absolutely come back!
