Weekend Trip to Maine Wild Blueberry BlissA great place to do nothing. But if you must do, there’s plenty to do. The privacy and expansive views are hard to beat. And — while maples and oaks get all of the attention in autumn — blueberry barren fall foliage is hard to beat. You’re surrounded by scarlet waves.
The site itself has everything you need: porta potty, fire pit, picnic table, privacy.
You’re about an hour and change outside of Acadia NP if you wanted to do a day trip. There are some nice trails on the quiet side by Long Pond. Closer to the site, the Barred Island Preserve trail is one of my favorites. Or grab a coffee at 44 North then head to Sand Beach in Stonington.
Food, Drink, Etc: Tinder Hearth, 44 North Coffee, Bucklyn Coffee, Blue Hill Books, Blue Hill Wine Shoo, Blue Hill Co-Op, Brooklin Inn, Brooklin General Store, Pilgrim’s Inn, Roaring Lion, El El Frijoles.
Overall would definitely recommend!
