Only one community remained. Perched on a ridge along the banks of the Atchafalaya River, Butte La rose is the only community in St. Martin Parish that is still located between the Basin levees. The community is nestled against one of the more winding meanderings of the Atchafalaya River, and residents remain closely tied to the river and other nearby waterways--fishing, crawfishing, frogging and hunting, enjoying bayou-side crawfish boils and pleasure boating. So many waterways surround Butte La Rose--Butte La Rose Canal, Henderson Lake, Lake Begneaux, Lake Pelba--it's as close to an island as you can get without actually being an island. We use the money from these bookings to fund the community food access work that we do. While you're here you can enjoy our peaceful and spacious garden property, and we encourage you to get to know some of the fantastic neighbors who use our community fridge and herb garden. Take the scenic Mississippi River Levee Path 1 mile to get to the Algiers Ferry dock which departs every 30 minutes and drops you off at the foot of Canal Street in the heart of New Orleans. If you have a car you can cross the bridge and get to most of the city in 15 minutes. You can also explore Algiers Point with its many restaurants, bars, local art and historic buildings. The levee trail is a block away, where you can jog, bike, or just watch the boats go by. Enjoy your morning coffee on the brick patio and feel free to use the fire pit (fall/winter only) and hammock! The description says an acre because it is impossible to put in a smaller number, but the actual parking space is about 25 x 50 ft, with additional hangout space nearby. I am right next door (on the other side of the fence) if you need anything and can help navigate entering and setting up and give you a key to lock the gate with. Warning: If your camper/RV is tall, it is tight getting in because there is a branch near the gate that hangs down to about 10.5 - 11 feet. This is best for small pull behinds and camper vans.

Learn more about this land: The fenced-in site is in a well lived in, low-income, busy neighborhood of New Iberia. The hosts live in the small brick cottage in front. The property is surrounded by gardens for guests to enjoy. There is a 15AMP regular outlet to plug into and a nearby water hose for travelers to use. We used to have a white German sheperd "Peanut" but he passed away in 2025. So that's the dog seen in some pics. There is a little dog "Lithium" (terrier mix) that stays on the property and will be out sometimes but generally stays inside the camper belonging to our groundskeeper Jenn.

We were here for 2 nights with 17 ft camper and 2 dogs. Everything worked great and we had a wonderful time. Like any beachy area, there are some goathead burrs. My dogs only encounter 1 burr the whole time. They loved the beach. We had them on long ropes so they could enjoy the water. Only warning would be to protect yourself at night from mosquitos. Turn off all lights before opening your door. Welcome to the south. Overall, very relaxing and quiet. Enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets. Would stay again. 😊

Stayed here for a week during Jazzfest. Affordable RV park in the back of a motel. The manager is very friendly, helpful, and responsive. At $30/night for full hookups it was by far the cheapest option around New Orleans that I found. The park is bare bones, just a gravel lot. The biggest negative for me is it’s right next to the railyard, the trains are loud and I could feel the ground shake at times. I liked that it’s right across the street from the bus line (9), which runs very close to the fairgrounds, I got a week pass on the RTA Le Pass app for $15 for unlimited rides.

Very secure for your trip into New Orleans. Very friendly staff and electric hook ups. I didn’t hear the trains when I slept but they are close so bring ear plugs if you wake to any noise. Uber is around 20-25 to French quarter and there is laundry I Wish there were a little grassy dog area, he did not want to go to the bathroom there, lots of rocks. But again very secure to keep your fur baby safe in your RV while you check out the sights with 24/7 cameras and isn’t that the most important?! We will be back and recommend.

It depends on what you are looking for. This is a no frills all hook up, secure lot. We stayed while at Jazzfest and it worked out great! It is right next to the freight train tracks so definitely train noise.

Good place to stay for the budget conscious. Trains didn't bother me at all, actually helped me sleep cause we are train enthusiast and I grew up semi close to hearing trains all night. Yeah, the neighborhood is a little rough, but don't cause any problems won't be any problems. The entire property is securely gated requiring a card to enter for those that are concerned, we weren't. Very close to Jazz Fest and the French Quarter. Brijesh was super nice and accommodating.

Weekend Trip to Royal Palms RV Park

Perfect affordable safe spot to camp if you are headed to the New Orleans area. Visited New Orleans for work and partied in the city after work. 15 mins from the city in a gated well lit secure lot with water and power hook ups. Will definitely return. Not the best area in the city but just like anywhere else. Staff/owner was very helpful and it's obvious they take pride in maintaining the property.

Mark’s place was quiet, welcoming and easily accessible. Nice walks along the water and an easy ferry ride to the city- would definitely recommend and we.loved the community garden and what it represents!

Weekend Trip to Bayou Bend Rv And Camping

Phildon was super communicative wven when not on site. Recommended a perfect available pitch and answered all questions quickly. My tip would be to aak for WiFi password before arrival as we had zero signal with Verizon and had to drive out to get supplies and a signal. We did not use the bathrooms or laundry facilities so cannot comment on those. Hook up was 50 amps. Phildon had an 50-30 adaptor if required but we had our own. Lovely little spot in the Bayou.

Great little spot and love the gardens! Easy walk to ferry, and Mark provides nice places to check out too! Very quiet area, met some nice folks who were camping here or helping out in the gardens.

Weekend Trip to Bayou Bend Rv And Camping

Nice quiet out of the way campsite with several spots to choose from. Sit and watch the lazy water drift by on the bayou as you listen to the frogs from the backwater creek. This was a peaceful stop for us and the host was accommodating, helpful, and informative. There is a shower house and laundry as well as WiFi, and full hook ups. We highly recommend this site. Easily fit a 35 foot rig. It was surprisingly easy to get to.

this place was definitely bare bones but also very safe, clean and accessible. the owner was super nice and made sure to stay up and available for our arrival around 10pm. there is a train that goes behind the park and it’s super loud!! we play rainstorm noises in the RV at night so it wasn’t too bad but maybe bring earplugs if that sort of noise would bother you. this is a great place to pass through! we will most likely be back when we take some time to visit new orleans.

Quiet spot but close to everything you want to do in Baton Rouge. There was one tent camper there the whole time we were there (they looked pretty permanent/settled) and 2-3 others who came for the night but were gone by morning. We were in the RV spot which had a great view of water and easy to access hookups. We have a small camper (under 20ft) and it was easy to get in and site was pretty level. The site is on a loop which was about 1 mile around and a nice walk. Minimal traffic
