Learn more about this land: This is a family farm which I now steward. One house was built by my grandparents in 1939 and the other by my father in 1981. There is a hay field and a horse pasture that is home to Biscuit and Shorty. Vehicle campers can locate a spot near either house if they need electricity or water. Tent campers can set up almost anywhere that appeals to them.

Found paradise on a Louisiana farm
William was the a better host than I even my wildest hopes could imagine. He was kind and welcoming, kept a respectful level of privacy, provided more than the essentials with wonderful recommendations for how I can enjoy the area. His conversation was engaging, the property was beautiful (be sure to say hi to Shorty and Biscuit), and I’d highly recommend anyone to visit William.

I had to change my arrival day ANd My arrival time twice. Julie was just so easy about it. She even suggested a different site that was better than I had selected. Her roam free dog (Quibly?) was so special. He even took my crazy dumb Labradors and my scrappy terrier on a customized hike. Always looking back to see if we were smart enough to follow him. I can’t say enough about this place! This is why I love being a Texan! 400 + acres of paradise and they’re willing to share some of the bounty? Couldn’t ask for more. 5 stars.

Beautiful and comfortable property
This is my favorite Hipcamp I have stayed at. The site is well maintained and is very convenient. I was able to pitch my tent right next to my vehicle. The houses on the property are beautiful as well. William is so kind and hospitable, and has provided a truly welcoming environment for those new to camping and the more experienced alike. This site feels very safe, even for a solo traveler such as myself. You have to try the outdoor shower, it is very refreshing after a day of travel.

New Favorite Get-Away
I booked super last minute, and was going to arrive fairly late in the evening. William was MORE than accommodating and so kind. The property is beautiful!! We cannot wait to come back when it’s a little warmer. Lots of future memories will be made at Savage Lane!

Good Spot For An Overnighter
Easy to find with the GPS directions. William guided me in and gave me a quick rundown on the surroundings. Nice fireplace and a big beautiful Pecan Tree. Water and bathroom is available but I didn’t use. Two or three trains came through but it was kind of nice to hear them, and also nice to hear the coyotes. Good spot with a nice host. Thanks!!

Very nice, peaceful place. William was very kind and accommodating. Maybe a little out of the way of most things, but if you're driving through the area would definitely recommend!

Do yourself a favor and stay here.
We’ve stayed in 25+ hipcamps and never had an experience like we’ve had with Bill. He is so generous and welcoming with his space and with his kindness. We will be coming back to LA just to come here. I highly, highly recommend everyone to make their way here…you’ll leave a better person. Yeah, it was that great.

Great site and great host!
My dog and I had an absolutely incredible time here!! William was an outstanding host and an outstanding guy in general! The farm is beautiful and I got to pitch my tent under the unbeatable shade of an old pecan tree. For dinner we even prepared a fresh meal straight from William's garden and it was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I definitely recommend this site to anyone looking for a peaceful camping getaway!

Great host
Although we could not be able to make it William property due to a major inconvenience in our. The host the communication with host was great and even tried to work with us in our arrival time even as we kept pushing our arrival to very late at night. A great property it is nothing without a great host, just like a nice restaurant without a good chef. Thank you for looking out for us as we tried to make it

Great host!
It was pouring rain when we pulled in- William directed us to a barn on the property to park our car under cover and it was a sweet place to set up camp during the storm. Such a nice property and great host! Definitely recommend!

Hidden Gem!!
We have to say Bill sets the bar high, being our first HipCamp trip! We could not have asked for a better host, place, or experience. Beautiful area for tent camping, the sunset, sunrise, and walks will stay in our memories forever. There’s plenty of privacy, as well as an awesome outside shower, herb garden, vegetable garden, fire pit, the entire experience was nothing less than perfect for us. We will be returning many times and having an enormous dog that fell in love with the place as well I should say all 3 of us will be back sooner than later! Thank you Bill for your kindness and sharing the experience with others!

Will be a return stop in LA
Great sunsets, open fields, horses and peace and quiet (there is an occasional nearby train, but, I love trains, so not an issue). I definitely recommend this site. William is a friendly, just the right amount of attentiveness and respectful host sharing his wonderful space.

This was a nice spot and William was very accomodating. The fire pit was perfect, the directions were spot on and the open sky was beautiful on a night with a full moon.

Excellent host!
William was a gracious host. The ground was completely flooded from rain so he let me pitch a tent in the barn. It had electricity, 4 walls, and was the cleanest barn/shed I’ve ever seen! If I pass through again on a clear day I’d happily stay again.

William was so gracious. He had plenty of wood for my evening fire and had a friend help load it in a wheelbarrow and get it to my fire ring. We chatted a bit but he let me set the amount of conversation I wanted. The weather was perfect with clear skies and a beautiful sunset 🌅 . The songbirds were sweet the next morning as I was preparing to leave. There are train tracks at the back of the farm. I only heard them when I was awake. William said they go by randomly; no set schedule. I’m sorry I was only there for an overnight stay. It would be nice for a longer visit. I would advise to buy gas before getting too far from the highway. I don’t think there was a station in Collinston.
