Thirteen years ago my best friend and I started a canoe and kayak company to allow people to experience the same things that we experienced as children.

As of 2026, Beardsnest provides a glimpse into the 5th year of succession, which is characterized by spacious views of a gently rolling young prairie that is flanked by the rocky and steep slopes of a mature forest.
Pet friendly and a good fit for self-sufficient types that prefer quiet camping over dense layouts, but still want to get into to the park quickly (~6.2 miles to Visitors Center) or travel into Cave City (3 mi) for a greater variety of food, drink, and other cave experiences. Expand from campsites into a sketch-work of prairie and woodland trails featuring characteristic karst elements of topography.
Visitor support allow us to plant trees (~530 seedlings as of March 2026), establish native grasses and flowers, restore wetlands, create trails, and remove invasive species.
In our opinion, the essential Mammoth Cave NP experience should have 3 basic layers: 1) the underworld (cave tours), 2) upper world (hiking), and critically, the flow of water that connects the two (Green River). Mammoth Cave is unique in the way that a study of the underworld will repeatedly draw the mind into a creative space where we imagine what is beneath the surface and how these worlds are linked, while above ground hiking on land or kayaking on the rich and biodiverse Green River. There is more here than can be digested in a lifetime of observation, but examining in orbits of the 3 layers will provide a foundation of intuition and understanding.
Floating the Green River is like leaving developed reality and dropping into pure nature. We offer kayak trips and guided tours that leave from camp, tailored to your schedule.

We have water, septic and electrical hook ups (50 amp). This is a back in site. If you are not comfortable backing in, this is not the site for you! If you are staying over the colder months, we do not allow the use of space heaters. You must be using propane to heat. This is a farm and you are free to roam about in the front field around the camp site and watch the sunset, relax and simply enjoy nature. We are less than an hour drive to 4 different Tennessee State Parks and about 40 minutes east of Nashville. We do not typically allow dogs for long term stays We have had some confusion come up because people aren't reading the site specifications, so here is the most important. It is a gravel site, so it is not level. We do have cinder blocks at the site to help with leveling. The site is going to accommodate rigs 35 to 36 ft max However, you MUST be comfortable backing your rig. In the winter, it is dark here by 4:30-5. So if you arrive at that time you will be setting up in the dark. Make sure you are reading the rules and safety for what is allowed here.

Quiet, lush and lovely. Attention to all the little details make this site a true delight! Flat back-in gravel site. Full service site. Fits our 38 foot TT well! The roads into the sight are a little tight for our 105" wide. Okay with caution. Great place for dogs including walking trails and a large field to be off leash. Owners met us upon arrival to ensure we landed well and were incredibly kind even providing a care package including trail map and biscuits for the dogs! Five stars out of five only because we can't give six!!!

This is a smallish site, directly on the road. However its pretty quiet, well lit. Water and power easily accessible. Downtown Nashville was roughly 15 minutes away down back roads that avoided traffic. Great spot for a visit to Nashville without all the people surrounding you. Would recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay here on Ditte and Stan’s farm. They are so incredibly welcoming, kind, and generous. It felt like home from the minute we pulled in. Elizabeth is an awesome owner and really sweet host. Upon our arrival, we were met with offers of burgers for dinner and treats for our dogs. The bathrooms were recently redone and clean and the park itself was kept up well. This park was a great spot for an overnight stay as we travel back east. Highly recommend.

We absolutely stumbled onto a hidden gem with this HipCamp stay. The property was peaceful, beautiful, and felt like something straight out of a storybook. Huge wooded trails, wildlife everywhere, quiet campsites, and the sweetest screened-in sitting area with fresh flowers waiting for us when we arrived.
But what truly made this place unforgettable was the host, Ditte. She went above and beyond in every possible way. We were welcomed with a thoughtful gift bag that included homemade elderflower jam, fire starters, dog treats for our pup, and a hand-drawn map of the entire 50-acre property with trails marked out. She even brought us fresh eggs for breakfast!
The trails were gorgeous and clearly loved and cared for. We saw peacocks, toads, peaceful forest paths, and little signs throughout the woods that made the whole experience feel magical and personal. Lovely spot. Communication with Elisabeth was great! It was so nice to have a quiet place to park in a pretty, woodsy setting and still be near the city. It was raining heavily, but it would've been nice to enjoy the fire pit and seating area if the weather were nicer!

Lovely farm enjoyed the quiet scenery with the occasional call of the peacock. April and Dave were very attentive to getting us connected with Wi-Fi and that we were comfortable easy in and directions easy out shady after afternoon area love the cow the pigs, the horses cat chickens just what we needed we met our friends great time had by all
