Each site is in a wooded, shaded area with a flat area on the ground to place a single large tent. Each site has its own fire ring and a small wooden table. There is wood on the ground you may use for firewood, and ample twigs etc on the ground for kindling (do not cut any trees or branches off trees). There is a covered firewood shed with dry firewood as well. There are maintained trails with river access for kayaks. There are 2 porta potties near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. There is a single bathroom with flush toilet and sink with running water that is a short walk away (open May-Oct depending on weather) There is an outdoor on-demand hot-water shower at bathroom, with a water hose available as well. On-demand hot water heaters provide hotter water at a low water pressure, and cooler water at full blast. We do provide a large trash bin near the porta potties for trash disposal. DO NOT throw trash into fire pits or burn barrels in the woods. Campsites are a short walk (100-200 feet) away from parking area (you CANNOT drive directly to or park at your campsite). Foster Park is a short bike ride away where you will find greenway trails that run throughout Fort Wayne (ride your bike to downtown!!) Our property backs up to the St Mary's River, bring you kayaks and fishing poles! Less than a mile from Montpelier, a golf cart community. Small town still host Montpelier Speedway one of the last dirt tracks in Indiana. Races on most Saturday nights. You can also get a round of golf in at Bluewater Golf course 9 hole course located across the road from the lake. The property is located just on the outskirts of the town of Portland, Indiana. It is a country feel with the nearby conveniences of town. Laundry mat, Walmart, Dollar Tree, city parks, and a variety of restaurants are within 2 miles. The property features my beautiful 1950's red brick home, and 2 restored red historic barns surrounded by farm fields. Parking is always available in front of the barns on gravel. When the ground isn't too soft, you can also park within the couple acres of open, mowed ground behind the barns. 30 amp electricity is available near the barns. New for 2025 we have our own flock of chickens and will usually have fresh eggs available. The flock includes roosters, so you may get an early morning wake up call! Leashed pets are welcome.

Bare-bones camping! This secluded spot allows dry camping in a beautiful 9-acre woods. A winding gravel drive takes you to the heart of the forest and away from civilization. Fully self-contained RVs/camper vans can park level and find a large clearing to enjoy the sounds and sites of native Hoosier flora and fauna. This is a single lane with no turn-around for lengthy vehicles. Our family’s desire is to eventually live on the site and some signs of development can be found, but our first priority is the tedious but rewarding task of removing the non-native species (Burning Bush, Winter Creeper, Asian Honeysuckle, Garlic Mustard, Multiflora Rose) to allow for the native woods and understory to thrive. We are a few years into this process and have already seen major gains in the health of the woods, thanks to the guidance we received from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Limited use of the site ensures the native animal presence is not overly disturbed and preserves a true experience for campers to enjoy. Fill your fresh water tank before arriving and dump your black water tank at a dump station when you’re done. Gray water may be dumped onsite ONLY if you are using earth friendly soaps/ cleaners. Pre-cut and dried firewood for your enjoyment can be arranged ahead of time for a fee. Kindling can be gathered in the cleared areas and along the trails, but we ask that you do not enter non-cleared areas of the woods as this is disruptive to the plant and animal life. There is a one party limit so you may enjoy your nature experience in privacy. With two connecting trails carefully carved into the woods, you are sure to spot signs of creatures like red squirrels, chipmunks, possum, rabbits, garter snakes, frogs, toads, and deer. This property is a bird watchers delight! In the past year, we have observed Blue Jays, Cardinals, Goldfinches, Carolina Wrens, Baltimore Orioles, Cedar Waxwings, American Robins, Sparrows, Tufted Titmice, Finches, Downy Woodpeckers, Northern Flickers, and Pileated Woodpeckers. Black Vultures and Red-Tailed Hawks are a common sight, and you may hear Owls during your overnight stay. Despite the feeling of total privacy, this site is minutes from Muncie, a mid-sized city in Delaware county. Muncie is home to Ball State University, which hosts concerts, speakers, and other programs. Muncie boasts an active downtown with shops, restaurants and breweries. IU Ball Hospital, an award-winning medical facility, is a 15-minute drive. Ruoff Music Center, a beloved outdoor music venue that provides live entertainment throughout the concert season, is less than an hour from the site. Indianapolis, a little over an hour drive, offers vast entertainment opportunities.

Yes you may occasionally hear some trains or even particularly loud cars while camping deep in the woods but this is the tradeoff for a one mile drive to bars, restaurants, and groceries! Best of both worlds. The Muncie Eagles, whose nest resides directly across the river from us, do not seem to mind! This location is also directly on two main bike trail routes and our trails are fun for low impact mountain biking! We also have a small armada of kayaks/canoes on site; IF arranged that option does exist for cost of transport! We have 2 porta potties on site as well and fresh water hose available at main house. The host Larry was always available and extremely accommodating! Great little field, perfect for kids. I will say when I stayed we did get stuck in the mud pretty bad, but that is of no fault to the owner whatsoever. I am including this so you can be prepared based on the weather, and Larry did everything in his power to help us out! I also think he will be getting the spots concreted very soon so that may not be an issue going forward! I would recommend to EVERYBODY to stay here :) if I could give more than 5 stars I would.

I had no problem finding the entrance to the property. I pulled in and contacted Amanda as was asked for in the sites posting for the reservation. I waited and didn't get a reply after about 25 minutes or so I explored and I found my site. It was numbered and found it quite easily on the edge of the large pond which I found out later was once a dolomite quarry. Setup and while I was doing so Amadas parents pulled up and greeted me. View was great of the water and site was level with a large area to turn around my for vehicle and trailer to leave the next morning. No electric or potable water which I knew beforehand but the porta potti was appreciated. Would definitely use Amandas property again.

Weekend Trip to Red Brick Homestead

We had a great stay! The setup was a breeze, and Audrey was incredibly helpful throughout the process. What We Loved: Easy Setup: Setup was easy and Audrey was very helpful. The electric hookup was conveniently close, and Audrey even provided a hose extension since the water was a few yards away. It was a unique experience waking up to the sounds of the chickens and crowing rooster. There is also an abundance of grass to hangout if that's what you're looking for. Could Be Improved / Important Notes: The actual spot I stayed on (15amp) was part of the rock driveway. The turkeys are a bit curious and hopped onto my truck and camper. I was worried their talons might damage the cloth. However, after messaging Audrey, she quickly put them away which eased my worry. Overall Impression: Audrey was a very responsive and accommodating host. I would book again if heading to that area.

Weekend Trip to Barefoot Retreat - Star Host

We loved our weekend at Barefoot Retreat! The pond is naturally clean and it’s also stocked with fish. My husband enjoyed fishing and I enjoyed the paddle boards. The pond also features a water slide and diving board which I wasn’t aware of so it was a nice surprise. This place is so peaceful. The sunsets are stunning. Meditating on the dock at night paired with water sounds from the pond fountain really helped calm my mind. That matched with the moonlight and stars really made this place so dearly tranquil. Our three dogs really enjoyed roaming around. I’d say if you bring pets or kids definitely bring a canopy for shade because it gets toasty in the sun. We brought a canopy tent and that was a nice relief for all of us. We will be back!

Great quiet little spot for a one night stay over on our way to Maine. We have little kids and were looking for somewhere quiet on the 4th and this fit the bill perfectly. The pond was perfect for a swim while our RV cooled down from the drive without AC and made for a lovely view to watch the sunset. We even saw fireworks in the distance. Would definitely stay again.

Was passing through on a bigger trip out west and this was a perfect place to spend an evening.

1 night at Barefoot Retreat - Star Host

My stay was just a quick sleep and depart, but for the few hours I was there, I felt safe and my dogs had plenty of room to run around in. Although it was dark, it seemed very clean and peaceful. Would definitely stay again if given the opportunity.

1 night at River Camp Fort Wayne

River camp is a wild, natural area just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Fort Wayne. It's amazing how remote it feels. Marla is a great host, and has kept the natural feel while having every convenience you would want while camping. I sat down on the river watching geese with goslings, and a Bald Eagle that was hunting for a relaxing evening.
