Each site is in a wooded, shaded area with a flat area on the ground to place a single large tent. Each site has its own fire ring and a small wooden table. There is wood on the ground you may use for firewood, and ample twigs etc on the ground for kindling (do not cut any trees or branches off trees). There is a covered firewood shed with dry firewood as well. There are maintained trails with river access for kayaks. There are 2 porta potties near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. There is a single bathroom with flush toilet and sink with running water that is a short walk away (open May-Oct depending on weather) There is an outdoor on-demand hot-water shower at bathroom, with a water hose available as well. Sherri’s property is beautiful! It’s an old campground that they’ve spruced up, there’s a nice bathhouse with showers and flushing toilets. There’s a cute little pavilion with yard games & a coffee maker. There’s a sand volleyball court, tether ball, and swings. There’s a gravel drive so you can get your car to the camp sites and back right into your spot.

Heritage Farm was such a great getaway to slow down and soak in nature’s sounds and farm life! We enjoyed it all- from hiking in the woods with the goats to feeding and walking the alpacas! All experiences we have never had. Our daughters (ages 3 & 5) especially loved the huge slide down the hill and the adorable cats and kittens to play with. Tim and Beth are wonderful hosts! If you’re looking for a great place to unwind and reset, Heritage Farm is truly the place to escape to!

Weekend Trip to Heavenly Acres Creekside Camp

Absolutely loved staying here! I car camp with my agility dogs and was looking for somewhere to stay while in the area competing. Sometimes it's hard to find a place that a) allows dogs and b) allows people to sleep in their cars and c) has spots you can drive into. This fit all the bills so I was really happy to be able to stay! Forrest met me at the gate and we talked farm animals, chickens, ducks... he showed me the camping area and gave me a choice of a few areas. I got set up in a nice spot that was easy to get into and out of because I leave very early (read: very dark!) in the morning for the start of our competitions. It's quiet and private, even though there were some other campers. LOTS of space, so even in the area I was setting up in, I had the room to find some nice level ground to park. I was gone much of the day and early to bed both nights I stayed, but the farm looks incredible and no doubt the farm tour would provide an amazing experience if you have kids. There's a huge variety of farm animals! Easy to find with a sign right on the main road to steer you in. Outhouse on the property is always a big benefit! Loved staying here and will definitely be back!

This was probably the best Hipcamp experience we have had so far! Sherri and her husband have done a great job making this a great site - there were games, campfires and coffee in the morning, plus a real bath house. They are located close to Turkey Run State Park (less than 10 min) and Shades State Park (about 25 min) - a great place to stay if you like hiking at these great parks. We loved staying here and plan to come back - we highly recommend it!

Sherri was a phenomenal host! Upon arrival she greeted us to show us around the beautiful property. The pictures don’t do this place justice. We loved exploring all the trails and possible places we were allowed to camp. It is really a little nature pocket tucked away that is close to many amenities. We enjoyed a camp fire with wood included looking at the full moon and stars! The ninja grill worked well for our cooking needs and Sherri helped us work it. She provided many recommendations to us on what to do and explore too. Also her cat and doggos were so friendly! The bathrooms were clean and felt luxurious for camping. She provided many basic amenities from soap, shampoo, bug spray, and fire starters. She even brought out a Keurig for us to have tea and coffee in the morning. We will be back to return and appreciate her hospitality. We really felt taken care of with our expectations exceeded!

The property was a pleasant surprise for being in a rural area. It was nice to have options of river access for kayaking or a salt water pool to reside in. It was clean. If you’re a tent camper your areas appeared nicely spaced out. If you have an RV you will be at the entrance just off the road (which was rarely traveled). Wide open places if you were to have a group you would have the front all to yourselves. Kayaking on the river was fun. It was a nice couple of days.

1 night at Heritage Farm Stay Adventure

Heritage Farms was a unique location. Directions were clear and hosts responsive. Upon arrival we were met and assisted to our site (red barn RV). There were many pens of alpacas and our site was next to one. We were greeted by the friendly dogs and there were many kittens. The farm and buildings are well maintained and there are beautiful flowers. You do need to understand it is a working alpaca farm and if that isn’t your thing then it wouldn’t be for you. There was less privacy where our site was located due to the attraction of the animals.

This camp is absolutely amazing. We visited it on the 4th of July and we really enjoyed everything. The communication was very clear and prompt, the hosts are so friendly. All the territory is so functional, beautiful and clean. The swimming pool is really great with a slide, the water was warm. The river view is beautiful. We had a beautiful weekend. Nicole was a great host. The farm fresh eggs were delicious. The float on the river was peaceful and the closest I've ever been to a bald eagle. The nearby Ruth Kern nature preserve offered a quick hike with luscious greenery.

Where to go

North Indiana

Indiana’s most Instagram-worthy landscapes can be found at the state’s northeastern boundary. Sloping dunes and sandy beaches line the southern shore of Lake Michigan, and Indiana Dunes National Park has tent and RV camping right by the beach. Further east, industrial towns pepper the road to Amish Country, where you can check into a rustic log cabin in the woods or camp by the lake in Chain O’Lakes State Park.

Central Indiana

Indiana’s central plains are dotted with laidback market towns, cornfields, and lakes. Indianapolis pulls in crowds for its summer motorsports events, most notably the famous Indy 500, but campers can easily escape the city for nearby Mccormick’s Creek State Park or Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Just to the south, Brown County is home to Monroe Lake, the state’s largest lake, hemmed in by Yellowwood State Forest and Brown County State Park.

Southern Indiana

Hilly southern Indiana is blanketed with woodlands, most notably the forested trails and canyons of Hoosier National Forest. Come in fall to hike against a backdrop of foliage or canoe along Sugar Creek, one of the state’s top paddling destinations. Further south, the Ohio River Scenic Byway draws adventurers to hike, paddle, camp, and fish.
